Rating: Summary: Charming and memorable Review: I'm so glad I ignored the tepid press reviews and went to see this movie on my own! It was both romantic and well-paced, not too fast or too slow, and well worth the price of admission. Duchovny and Driver fit well together, and I was rooting for their romance, once I got over the lump in my throat when the wife (Joely Richardson) died. It was so great to see adult, interesting characters in a human-interest story that was simply and credibly told. Don't know if most men would appreciate the story, but I haven't found a woman who disliked it.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic, Man Review: This is a very wonderful and sensational movie. I guess I went into the cinema thinking it would be quite average so I was pleasantly surprised.I have never been a huge X-Files person so I never realised how great David Duchovny is. Now I know he really is gorgeous and loveable! He'll make you cry for him. Actually, every one in this film was just so cool. No-one annoyed me, which is so rare. The family, which included James Belushi as the Dad was soooo realistic - extremely chaotic, which is what families are really like! There were senior cits and young'uns all hanging out together which is so fabulous. Oh I'm gushing again aren't I? It made me laugh a lot and cry a little bit too. You mostly cry in a bittersweet way if youre anything like me. It had so many funny or just amusing bits, it was just entertaining from start to finish. The best new movie Ive seen in yonkers. If you like realistic, down-to-earth romances, this is the one for you.
Rating: Summary: This movie mad me cry! Review: That heading may not say a lot about the movie, but I rarely cry for movies! It was SO CUTE! I loved it! It was so refreshing to go see a movie that is just a good old-fashioned love story without having to worry about unnecessary bedroom scenes. I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves cute romances!
Rating: Summary: Great film! Review: This was one of my favorite movies! It was such a cute story and had very good acting!
Rating: Summary: A Funny, Warm, Wonderful Film! Review: I can't say enough good things about this movie. I loved it so much when I saw it on the Friday it was released that I ended up going back to see it again on both Saturday and Sunday. And I think I even went back the next weekend. They rarely make movies like this anymore, so when they do I sit up and take notice. David Duchovny is unbelievably good in this. I have to admit that I had some trepidation about seeing him as anyone other than my beloved Fox Mulder, but I was utterly and completely charmed by his portrayal of Bob Rueland. Comparisons to Cary Grant have been made by some, and while that may be stretching it a bit, I can certainly see what they're talking about. He has a real gift for subtle, intelligent comedy. I hope Hollywood can get past the Mulder typecasting and give him a chance to do this kind of work again. (Soon, please!) Minnie Driver was lovely, winsome, and terribly funny. She gives Grace a sweetness and vulnerability as well as a wry, self-deprecating humor that keeps her from being TOO sweet. Grace's wonder at the new world opening up to her is palpable and a joy to watch. The supporting cast is phenomenal as well -- Carroll O'Connor is great as the overprotective Irish grandpa, Robert Loggia and the other old guys are hilarious, Bonnie Hunt plays the wisecracking but loving best friend to perfection, and James Belushi will keep you in stitches in every scene he's in. There's a real sense that everyone in this movie cares about what happens to Bob and Grace. Pretty soon you're pulled into this quaint little group and you're rooting for Bob and Grace, too. This movie does require a suspension of cynicism and our usual hip irony to be fully enjoyed. It's utterly innocent, yet very wise in the ways of the heart; it has an unbelievable premise, yet contains a romance that grows into one of the most believable relationships that I've ever seen onscreen. I'm not a prude at all when it comes to movies, but it was really refreshing to see two people fall in love without hopping right into bed. Sometimes less really is more. Director/Writer/Co-Star Bonnie Hunt did a great job on her first movie. I can't wait to see what she does for an encore. She's one to watch. This is a movie I know I'll watch over and over in years to come, whenever I need a sad, sweet, funny, joyous, and heartwarming couple of hours. See it -- you'll be glad you did.
Rating: Summary: Return To Me- A Step Back in Time Review: I really enjoyed the movie Return To Me. It was like movies made when my parents were kids-entertaining without resorting to eccessive sex, violence and special effects. It makes you cry, laugh, feel sad, feel happy, and really gets you involved with the characters. I didn't want it to end. David Duchovny and Minnie Driver had great chemisry, and all the supporting cast was excellent. You can take your mother, sister, friend, significant other to see this movie, and know they will all enjoy it.
Rating: Summary: Better than expected Review: This is truly one of the better movies that David Duchovny has done. I found it surprisingly funny and romantic, and is worth owning a copy. Minnie Driver plays the perfect part of a woman who receives a heart transplant and a new leash on life, while Duchovny plays an architect who is trying to move on after the death of his wife. Bonnie Hunt's direction on this movie made it not only enjoyable, but funny and sweet as well.
Rating: Summary: Comedic and Dramatic Review: This film will move you to tears of sadness and tears of laughter. The scenes with Bonnie Hunt's character and her husband are hysterical. David Duchovny's character is so sweet. If you liked "While You Were Sleeping" and "One Fine Day", you will probably love "Return To Me."
Rating: Summary: great romantic comedy Review: The story of Return To Me seemed a bit too outlandish to me but I saw it and loved it! It is a great romantic comedy. It is definitely a good date movie and overall family movie. I really enjoyed it and there were great performances by Minnie Driver, David Duchovny, David Alan Grier, Bonnie Hunt, and Jim Belushi.
Rating: Summary: Very Fun Classic Style Comedy Review: Return To Me is one of those cute comedy movies that people of many different ages enjoy. David Duchovny is in a role that is new for him, and Minnie Driver is also a very good pick for the main role. The basic story is about Grace (Driver) who needs a heart transplant, or she will die. Duchovny plays Bob, whose wife as just died in a car accident, and her heart is given to Grace. Bob and Grace meet without knowing that his wife's heart is in her, yet they feel a strange connection between each other. This movie is filled with great laughs and leaves you with a smile when you leave the theater. I recommend this movie who enjoys the whole romantic-comedy genre.
