Summary: the original working girls!
Review: I used to watch this flick ad nauseum on cable in the 1980s, a few years after it came out. Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda and Dolly Parton (in what was possibly her last good role) are great as three put-upon women working for a sexist boss (Dabney Coleman) who decide to just lock him up and take over the firm and prove that they can make it better.

The best scene is when the three women, who were at first strangers, have become friends and are smoking marijuana as they dream up ways that they would make their boss see the light about his mistreatment of them. As the women get empowered at work, they start to take control in their personal lives as well.

It's over-the-top but has a good message, and can be appreciated for the fact that it was made at the tail-end of the 1970s when there was a resurgence in the number of women entering the workforce and the feminist era.

Summary: Fun, but Far-Fetched Even by Hollywood Standards
Review: I checked out this video because I like the theme song and I found it to be enjoyable but a little over-the-top. The interaction between the main characters (played by Lily Tomlin, Dolly Parton, and Jane Fonda) works very well. They fantasize on how they will get even with their jerk boss, only to find that their fantasies, to an extent, become reality. They find themselves in a number of predicaments and concoct easy--and very far-fetched--ways to get out of them. Nine To Five is one of those films I'll probably only see once.

Review: I loved this movie!I'm huge Fan of Dolly Parten. SO I figured I like it. But it was better than I expected. I would have taken there boss hostage a lot earlier if I had been them.. But. All the acting was great and The outfits were realy great because I love the 80's look. If your ever in need of a realy good laugh this is the movie too see.

Summary: classic
Review: great entertainment. most people wish they could do this to their bosses -- hold him/her hostage and take over. All the lead actress are funny -- great comedic timing and chemistry. the audience is involved throughout the entire story. we really feel as if we are in the sitution with them, and thus, we are rooting for them. good times.

Summary: Hilarious
Review: Couldn't believe I would actually like this movie. Simply because Dolly Parton is on this film and I'm no fan of her's at all because I don't like country music. I mostly watched this because of Lily Tomlin since I hadn't seen much of her lately except for A&E airing Tea for Mussolini and re-runs of Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In on Trio TV. Turns out that 9 to 5 is quite hilarious. The movie is about three secretaries, played by Tomlin, Parton, and Jane Fonda who decide to get back at their male chauvinist boss (Dabney Coleman). To me I think the acting, the clothing, and the hairstyles are really bad and you can tell this was from 1980, but that's actually the charm of the movie. Since this is from 1980, you'll notice, instead of PC computers, you see plenty of electric typewriters and calculators (I was 8 years old when 9 to 5 came out so I should know how an office was like in those days). I liked the scene of Lily Tomlin daydreaming that she was Snow White and you get Disney animation in that part of the film, a little strange, given the content of the film. Bambi even makes an appearance here, and this is where Tomlin wished her boss was on a seat that springs out and he falls out the window. As far as I'm concerned, 9 to 5 isn't a movie I'd watched every day, but for something totally corny and off-the-wall, this is worth watching.

Summary: A must for collectors of Comedy
Review: I love this movie. Having been in the business world for many years, I can relate to this movie. The acting is great.

When I call clients now, and the secretary tells me that they are "tied up right now" I generally respond..."with ropes or chains".

The movie is delightful.

Summary: Great movie
Review: This is a really fun movie. Dolly Parton made her movie debut in this film, and does a great job, as do the other actors. "Nine To Five" was released in 1980, which was (in my opinion), one of the best years the film industry ever had. It was intersting to watch the office scenes in "Nine To Five" because there were no PC's then. Just typewriters and calculators. Things sure have changed. The 2nd half of "Nine To Five" is somewhat far-fetched, storywise, but still extremely funny.
