Summary: You hate "I Know What You Did Last Summer"? Me too!
Review: This movie rocks! It was so twisted and crazed, yet you could tell was an accurate depiction of true white trash. I can not give it enough praise. However, if you did enjoy I know what you did last summer (and its sequel) and other horribly directed, horribly acted, and horribly written flicks, then you just might hate this. This movie is just a little more than what those who hate it think it is. Yes, it is madness and one would think pointless. However, if you inspect it with an artfully trained eye (and an unbiased one) you will find that the way this movie progresses (I would say story, but there isn't much of one) you will see just how much effort must have gone into it to make this a movie. Think about it... NO STORY! pretty tough to make a movie using town idiots (which were actually used for most of the cast, as that is Harmony's style) and telling no real story, yet make it so captivating, a bit tougher than your average flick with a STUPID story! Get real and open your eyes you disbelievers, learn to appreciate art and work!

Summary: Take It For What It Is - A Movie
Review: I'm seeing that people are either raving or slamming this movie. Granted, it's not one of the most socially aware, life-changing movies that the people who hated it (obviously) thought it should be. Nor is it the brilliant commentary that the people who loved it wanted it to be. However, I watch movies usually for one reason and for one reason only - to be entertained. This movie wasn't brilliant. This movie didn't suck. But this movie DID hold me captive, entertain me and engross me totally. It accomplished what a movie should.

Review: Maybe I'm weird. I get SUCH a kick out of reading the radically mixed reviews...it seems that people either think Gummo is the worst thing they've ever seen or the best. Personally, I'm a fan. Korine's cinematography is fantastic, and the actors are all so...WEIRD-looking. It just FITS. And having grown up in Dayton, Ohio (which is about 20 minutes away from Xenia), it has special meaning. PEOPLE LIKE THIS DO EXIST. It's reality, folks, like it or not.

Summary: I dunno is it good or bad?
Review: I was basically perplexed, shocked, by this movie. I could not stop watching it. But the I cannot stop watching teletubbies, but I'm convinced that show has subliminal messages. I was horrified by tis movie as I have known people only a little less dememnted, I grew up in a town as "special" as in Gummo. So it appeals to me by familiarity but I am disgusted that people are like this. Having a sociological background, it was fascinated. I think I'd have to see it again to appreciate it. If you are one who likes to watch things that catch your attention due to disgust factor (a disgust factor based in rality, ont like a disgust facotr over slimy monsters) than this movie is for you. otherwise, do not rent it.

Summary: NARROW MINDED NAYSAYERS SHOULD STICK W/ RAMBO!
Review: Gummo, a flower holding enough wine to quench the thirst of those who desire, crass creativity. Many egotist demote this masterful piece, with illregard to their lack of attention span for art. Gummo can be takein on many different levels so if you fancy your self open minded, and can look at "ART" in a conseptuous way, and you dont get distracted when your short attention span has to look at more than the face in front of you, you will love Korine and his work.

Review: Watch out! there is cult of people whose sole mission seems to be to try and trick you into thinking this is a movie that has any value. The latest Scwarzenneger film has more content. Furthermore, it's likely more intellectual. If you want to watch your neighbor's naughty kids home video, go ask. You don't need to buy this tape they're hocking.

Summary: how did anyone watch this?
Review: Well, here I am running into the problem that there is no zero star rating. I honestly don't know how the people working on this film were even able to stand it.If something positive can be said for this movie, it is that is will make you grateful for all the other good movies that are out there. I'm not a stickler for traditional plots - Koyaanisquatsi was a great movie without a plot. But this was just awful. LEonard maltin (above) hit it on the nose.
