Summary: Great Movie
Review: This movie is simply one of Jim Carrey's best. I see that alot of people here didn't enjoy it, and can only guess that they are a little too sensitive to foul language. If you can stomach the rudeness in language then this movie is absolutely incredibly funny. I was practically in tears with laughter throughout the film. Definately worth it!!

Summary: A Thud for Both Carrey and the Farrelly Brothers.
Review: It's no secret that Jim Carrey's star wattage has been dimming within recent years. With the exception of "The Grinch," his last few movies including "Man on the Moon," and "The Majestic" have flopped considerably. "Me, Myself, & Irene" didn't exactly bomb at the box office, but it's among Carrey's very worst films. Carrey plays a cop who is dumped by his girlfriend; the breakup traumatizes him so badly, that he develops a split personality called "Hank." Meanwhile, he fathers 3 thuggish African American men who are incredibly bright even though they all have mouths of drunken sailors. The film makes a big deal of the fact that these guys are smart, as if Black men who curse aren't supposed to be intelligent but just slack around. I guess the Farrelly Brothers intended to counter this racial stereotype, but they ended up shooting themselves in the foot. Nevertheless, the film does have its chuckling moments, but it has none of the charm or sweetness of the Farrelly's other hit, "There's Something About Mary."

Summary: What were you thinking, Jim???
Review: This movie is horrible. It is nothing but filth, which has nothing to do with the storyline. All of the funny parts occur in the first 5 minutes of the movie and are the scenes that were played as previews in theaters before this movie came out. I was really looking forward to a good laugh and all I got was a stomach ache.

Summary: Doesn't cut it for me
Review: I detested "Something About Mary"....so that should have told me in some way that I would find this film as unentertaining (unless your mind is fully in the gutter). I am a Johnny-come-lately fan of Jim Carry....having started to see his films The Majestic and The Truman show first and working my way back. The Mask was brilliant, and so was Cable Guy for dark comedy. If it were not for Jim and Rene Zelweger, I couldn't have lasted through it. For story line, it sinks, but it is a perfect set up for Jim Carrey. Too bad he couldn't have made it work better. Rene is an excellent actress who is hugely underused in this film. Interesting premise, and my dad loved it, but personally, I expected more.

Summary: Farrelly Brothers flounder in Carrey comedy
Review: I am an admirer of Peter and Robert Farrelly. They directed the underrated Kingpin and the wildly successful There's Something About Mary, one of my favorite comedies of the 1990s. One of my guilty pleasures is Dumb and Dumber, which they wrote. Now comes Me, Myself and Irene, and I find myself taken aback. The bawdy and sometimes infantile jokes are there. The gross-out humor is there. The mad characters are present. The movie is as politically incorrect as one could hope for. All the Farrelly ingredients are in place, except for one. The humor doesn't gel. The movie simply isn't very funny, and being funny is the only reason for a Farrelly brothers picture to exist.

Jim Carrey is Charlie, a Rhode Island State trooper. Charlie has been letting people run him over all of his life. No one takes him seriously, either at work or at home. On his wedding day, his wife falls for an African-American chauffeur who is also a dwarf. When she has triplets, Charlie refuses to admit they these boys obviously are not his children. Soon the wife and the midget run away, leaving Charlie to raise the boys. The movie then moves forward a couple of decades. Charlie is still a laughing stock to everyone but the triplets. One day a girl named Irene Renee Zellweger] is arrested for a traffic violation. It turns out the Feds are looking for her because they suspect she has a lot of information on her ex-boss, who is a really nasty fellow. Charlie is assigned to take her back to New York State. Shortly before this, Charlie, having had enough of being pushed around, develops a second personality, a guy named Hank. Hank is everything Charlie isn't. This is one mean and confrontational alter ego. Hank can come out and take Charlie's place at any time, and this causes a lot of trouble. The problem becomes worse when both Charlie and Hank fall for Irene.

I don't know enough about screenwriting to tell you exactly what would have saved Me, Myself and Irene. I do know that, as written, there are too many comic setups that don't work. Even the remarkable Jim Carrey was unable to make me laugh more than two or three times, and heaven knows no one tries harder than he does. The main problem seems to be that the Farrellys didn't know when to give up on a running joke. Take the triplets, for example. They grow up to be geniuses, literally capable of being rocket scientists. They have been accepted into Ivy League colleges, yet, not only do they use the 'MF' word constantly, they are the only characters in the movie to do so. If they were minor characters seen only briefly, this might have been humorous. As it is, they are seen throughout the movie, and the joke becomes quickly tiresome. Later, we meet an albino waiter who is present though the rest of the picture. He, too, is someone you wish would go away. If you look at earlier Farrelly movies, as well as those of comic masters like Mel Brooks and the Zucker brothers, you will note that they work because they constantly move on to the next joke. What few running jokes that are utilized are used sparingly and to good effect.

Me, Myself and Irene is merely a pothole in the careers of Carrey and the Farrellys. They are too smart not to learn from their mistakes, and I look forward to their next efforts. Knowing this doesn't make this movie any less painful to watch.

Summary: One of the comedy's I seen in ages!
Review: Thats right, this film surpassed my expectations by a mile and a a half. The jokes are done extremely well, even though many are simplistic set-piece gags, they are executed with brilliance! I found myself laughing at nearly every joke in the movie, and believe me thats unusual for me, I'm a certifiable grouch.

Its no sophisticated comedic piece but if you're in need of some belly hurting laughs definately check this movie. Brilliant!

Summary: Pretty much a nasty movie, but funny
Review: Jim Carrey once again shows us his crazy and wacky side with this movie. Meet Charlie(Carrey), real nice guy with the Rhode Island State Police force. Unfortunatelly, his wife leaves him for an overly-challenged african american, and the 2 have three sons. Instead of totally expressing his anger, Charlie bottles it all up, and takes care of kids his wife leaves behind with him. Years later, his anger bottles up so much to the point that a dark side of him is created. Meet Hank(a.k.a. Charlie), and soon this bad dude begins to take matters into his own hands, including challenging Charlie for the affection of the lovely and endangered Irene (lovely Renee Zellweger). When her life is at risk, Irene must rely on Charlie (and Hank to save her). The chemistry between Carrey and Zellweger is so good that you cannot stop laughing. Best line from one of his sons when a corrupt cop says he didn't know their dad was crazy:"He may have advanced dillusionary schizopphrenia with involuntary narcissistic rage, but he is a very gentle person!" If you say so(laughing)!

Summary: C'Mon People, Lighten Up
Review: Anyone who sits down to watch a Farrelly Brothers movie should be ready to be shocked. That is the fun in it, and Me, Myself and Irene delivers with an outstanding performance by Jim Carrey. He pulled no punches and I'm left wondering how much of it was improvised.

Those people who are critical because it made light of multi-personality disorders need to lighten up a bit. No one is making light of the disease, but think of when we were children. The behavior made us laugh, and we were innocent then, let's try and find that part of ourselves again. The movie was shockingly funny and I was surprised by the original humor.

Keep 'em coming Farrelly Brothers!!!

Summary: If it were possible, I would give it ZERO stars
Review: Can someone explain why mocking a psychological disorder is funny. If you want to understand something of mental illness and movie is your chosen medium, I would suggest you see A Brilliant Mind.

Summary: vulgar, disgusting langauge and scenes
Review: I hoped that this movie will be similar to "Dump and Dumper", but I rarely laughed: disgusting and full of trash, offensive scenes and language.
Briefly it is a movie about a Rhode Island trooper suffering from mental disease after his wife left him, who then had the assignment of transferring Irene to up state New York. First of all, I do not think making fun of people suffering from any disease to be considered at all funny. Just to count few: dog followed by man squatting naked on the lawn, to be immediately followed by brown ice cream? Or the young girl using F words, then being tortured in the fountain, also the announcement in the supermarket. The most disgusting was the cow scene, what is funny about killing any animal, and repeatedly shooting him/her. The three sons were exceptional using every and each words the MF.
