Rating: Summary: OK Family fare, but not up to par with the original Review: OK film for the family, with updated fashions and gadgets, and a few gratuitous and inappropriate scenes which should have been cut. When compared to the original, this one is clearly inferior in most respects. Several reviewers have criticized the happy ending as a fairy tale, but I have seen successful reconciliations several times in my experience. Not a bad movie, just not as good as the old one.
Rating: Summary: Awesome Review: While visiting my grandchildren (6, 7 and 2) recently in Belgium, where they are living with their parents for 3 years on business, I watched Parent Trap at least three times and loved it more each time and found it had a lasting impression on all three of the children, my 7 yr old granddaughter in particular. We found her impersonating the video and dressing like the sisters in the video, wearing the same nail polish, placing sunglasses on the top of her head, etc. and then came the lingo - we were hysterical but loved every minute of it.
Rating: Summary: Hey! Review: This movie is DA BOMB! I got it last year, and I love it
Rating: Summary: Film of the Century Review: What can I say about this film that hasn't already been said? It must be the film of the century. It has some indefinable haunting quality that makes you watch it again and again. The climax has got to be one hour into the film when Annie reveals her identity to Chessy. It still brings tears of joy even after twenty viewings. The music is so dramatic - one song after another. The orchestral music is so good that even the endless credits at the end bring an unspeakable joy. P.S. I must give Martin the butler a plug since he seems to have been ignored ; he is a wow!
Rating: Summary: A movie for the ENTIRE family... Review: The Hayley Mills' version was one of my all-time favorite movies...and then I saw the new "Parent Trap." I love this movie! From the opening scene with Annie and Martin (that handshake!) to the romantic ending...sigh...it doesn't get any better than this movie. Lindsay Lohan is brillant as Annie James/Hallie Parker. I loved Natasha Richardson as Elizabeth James. The scene were mother and daughter see each other for the first time when "Annie" returns home from camp is haunting (I cry - it reminds me of the late Princess of Wales and how much she loved her boys.). I love the Abbey Road scene and the photography session at the salon. Dennis Quaid is great as Nick Parker. Elaine Hendrix is wonderfully wicked...and Joanna Barnes as her mother - what great casting! The hiking scenes were hysterical. I can watch this movie over and over. AND the soundtrack is one of the best movie soundtracks ever. I love all the songs. Everyone loves The Parent Trap.
Rating: Summary: Great Review: This is such a good movie. I watched it 3 times in a row! And because I had to watch it downstairs in the kitchen because the VCR upstairs wasn't working my family became interested in it too!

Rating: Summary: A view from London Review: Superb, Brillant Fun for all the family. A must have film for the family
Rating: Summary: Awesome! Review: I think the Parent Trap was a great film because I liked the way Lindsey Lohan (twins) plays twp roles at once. And at first i didn't know that she played both because she was so good at the different accents. i think the nanny is very funny and the best bit of the film is when they're at camp. I would reccomend it to ANYONE!
Rating: Summary: Better than the original... Review: I am a big fan of both the new version, and original version, but I do think the newer one has some better points than the older one. For one thing, I think it has better acting- Lindsey Lohan does a great job of making it sound real, and I don't think Hayley Mills really had such a great ability in that area at that age. I think it's the same thing with Natasha Richardson and Maureen O'Hara: while Maureen O'Hara was beautiful and is a good actor, I think that her lines sound too "planned-out," while Natasha Richardson makes it sound spur-of-the-moment, like it is in real life. As far as Dennis Quaid and what's-his-name: I think they're equal. Not that the women in the newer version are better actors than he is, but that the older one is just a good actor all-together. Besides the acting: I think the tricks that the girls play on each other are more fun and entertaining than the older version, except of course for the dress-at-the-dance trick: you know what I'm talking about! So if you enjoyed the older version at all, I think you'll love this version even more like I did.
