Summary: Don't Dismiss!
Review: Although the humor is spotty, there are many laugh out loud sequences. (I count the Prince sequence as one of my absolute favorites.) Do not judge this by the HBO special, or even the VHS. The DVD includes so much more priceless airtime. Stay tuned after the credits to learn why you must buy his next musical album, then stay for the next two encores to find why he is the people's comedian!

Summary: Laugh out loud funny
Review: Be warned....this concert has a LOT of vulgarity. If you can get past that, the show is hilarious. Jamie Foxx is a gifted impressionist (Prince, Al Pacino, Mike Tyson, Bill Clinton) and physical comedian (Michael Jackson's declining moonwalking ability, a giraffe loping away from a lion, himself having a conversation with Al Pacino). There are several funny routines, including an encounter with Prince, Foxx's trip to Africa for "Ali," and more. Perhaps the funniest material of all, though, is the stuff not shown on the HBO special. There are two very funny musical encores where Foxx plays piano/organ and sings--and he's surprisingly very good. I enjoyed this far more than I expected to.

Summary: sucks
Review: Boring, boring, boring! You know how sometimes a comedian dosn't make you laugh out loud but you keep on listening because it's still interesing? Or he can atleast make you smile? Jamie Fox dose none of this on this dvd. It is so boring that the audience hardly responds, by laughter or applause. I was glad that he told black people to learn the truth about Africa but then he went on to make the lamest Africa jokes. His whole routine was lame! Save your money.

Summary: If you love Eddie Murphy, you'll love Jamie Foxx
Review: I can almost guarantee that those people who were "disappointed" with Jamie Foxx's performance in "I Might Need Security", absolutely hate Eddie Murphy's stand-up routines as well (I'm sorry this is meant for the reviewers who disliked Foxx's use of profanity, because Mr. Murphy's mouth isn't exactly clean, either). Yes, I agree that Eddie Murphy's routines are more relatable to and despite being made back in the 80s, had jokes way ahead of its time. Eddie has some great impressions, but Jamie had his share also (Sure, it might not have been Mr. T or Bill Cosby, but Shaq? Prince? And who could forget P. Diddy?) I guess Jamie Foxx's jokes are a little more "ghetto" (e.g., his incessant use of the word, "playa"), which may expalain why his stand-up routine might not appeal across a greater age span as Eddie's might. If you don't mind profanity and GHETTO raunchy humor, you will love Jamie's performance in "I Might Need Security".

(By the way, Jamie Foxx is an excellent singer! Some of the special features included on the DVD are definitely worth checking out.)

Summary: Boring DVD!
Review: I do not own this DVD,but I did watch this on HBO,and I was not impressed. The part about Jennifer Lopez is very stupid. Also, his routine about Africa is very boring. If you want to hear a good routine about Africa, watch Richard Pryor's "Live On The Sunset Strip. That routine and movie is hilarious. The worst thing about this DVD is that almost all of the jokes are all about security issues.I don't mind jokes like this, but these tend to get old fast.If you want to hear some good security jokes, watch either of Chris Rock's DVD's.He is the greatest comedian ever.So whatever you do,steer clear of either Jamie Foxx DVD.He is not funny.

Summary: Not very impressed
Review: I love jamie. And the title of this concert 'I need security' fits. He starts out with making comments on j.lo, tyson and a few other celebrities. After that he gets into discussing his trip to africa, sept 11th, the playboy mansion and a few other things. This wasn't the best concert though. The jokes were good but not his best. But a must see concert anyway.

Summary: Disappointing
Review: I really love Jamie and I love to laugh and I don't mind crude or rude jokes, but I'm not all the way through this tape yet, and I can think of a million other things to watch or do before I finish this. I can't understand that someone needs to feel funny by using the 'f' word in each and every sentance. After a while it's no longer funny (if at all) and it becomes really annoying. Like I said, he's great usually, but this just didn't do it for me. Sorry Jamie
