Summary: gerr eight
Review: This movie is funny all the way. All the characters are great. It's got mystery and suspense on top of the comedy. It's Mike Myers brand of comedy without re-using any stuff from "Wayne's World".

Summary: One of Mike Myers' best movies
Review: Very good characters, very good storyline. Phil Hartman has a great cameo role as an Alcatraz tourguide "everyone here calls me vicky". Charlie's poetry is also bitterly funny, and Harriet is great. Charlies' parents are humorously neurotic "its funny how you consider the weekly world news 'the paper'". Stuart's constant comments about his younger son's head are very funny (islike an orange on a toyoothpick). Good comedy, worth the money.

Summary: A great comedy
Review: This is one of the early Mike Myers Comedies before Austin Powers that most people didnt really see. He is a comic genius in this movie with his portrayel of Charly and his scotish father. Nancy Travis and Myers have a great chemistry all througout the movie. Overall it is one fun comedy for everyone to watch.

Summary: Something to Lift Your Spirits
Review: .....this movie is just a gem. Sometimes when my mood is sour, I'll pop this movie in. My mother and I will repeat the lines--we both own it. Mike Myers is absolutley darling--he does a terrific job of playing his Scottish father,"Look at the size of that Kid's HEEED, you've go to admit that's a HUGE Noggin', quick, spherical, pointy in parts." Nancy Travis is great too! My mom, sister, & I all own it. It's just a great, fun, movie!

Summary: Great Flick, Poor DVD
Review: A cute, funny movie that I still enjoy each time I see it.

Sadly, the transfer from film to DVD left a lot to be desired. When played on properly-calibrated equipment, it's dimmer than Dark City, which was supposed to be that way. Hopefully the distributor will re-master and re-press it.

Summary: Classic Mike Meyers
Review: I think that Mike Meyers continued his excellance in this film. His ability to play multiple characters and his comic talents make the movie an awesome oldie.

Summary: Still enjoyable, despite Mike Meyers
Review: Don't get me wrong - I used to think Mike Meyers was hilarious. Then he started over-doing that British/Scottish-accent humor to the point that it became annoying, reaching his comedic nadir with Austin Powers, easily the worst comedy I've ever tried to sit through (it was so bad, I had to turn it off halfway through, and I've never looked back).

Fortunately, this movie came out before Mike Meyers became truly annoying. It's kind of hard to watch this movie without thinking of some of the SNL characters Meyers created (particularly Linda Richman - HEL-LO!), but his performances are hilarious. His portrayal of Charlie's Scottish father is out-and-out, over-the-top funny, and will have you quoting several of his lines for weeks after a given viewing. Fortunately, his portrayal of Charlie is, relatively speaking, fairly restrained.

Anthony LaPaglia is great as the cop who wants to be Serpico (but isn't), and who wants his boss to be like the hard-nosed ones from 70's cop shows (Starsky & Hutch, et. al.) (but he isn't), while Alan Arkin is funny as his kind-hearted boss who tries to oblige him (but can't quite get it right). Nancy Travis manages to be both funny and vulnerable at the same time, so that you're actually rooting for Harriet and Charlie to finally get together. Amanda Plummer is cast - surprise! - as the type of character she's usually called on to portray. Kind of an ill fit (though because of the plot), but she makes it work (more or less).

Overall, this is a cute, romantic light comedy. You'll like it either in spite of what you see, or because of what you see, but you'll still like it.

Summary: Weird, that's all I can say is weird.....
Review: This movie is Weird, but in a funny way. It has somewhat of an original plot line and has a few good jokes here and there, but for the most part this movie was weird. If you're just becoming a Mike Myers fan or something like that I reccomend you check out Wayne's World and stuff like that before watching this movie, because this movie is truly for the die hard fans who are really into the comedy of Mike Myers.

Summary: I'm not kiddin' that boy's head's like Sputnik!
Review: This movie had me literally rolling on the floor for hours. My freinds and I had to rewind and watch the scene with the Father numerous times each time we watched it.

If you have ever lauged at Mike Myers' Scotish humour... this movie is for you!

"Oooo I hated the colonel... with his wee beady eyes... and that smug look on his face... ooo you're gonna buy my chicken... oooo!"
