Summary: the best!
Review: A true cult classic that keeps getting better everytime you watch it!! A laugh out loud and pee your pants flick!

A tale about a nice guy (with a strange family) who seems to think bad about the girls he dates or tries to find their faults! But then he meets the perfect girl (but is she that perfect?). Will it work out for these two?

Summary: So when's the Special Edition coming out?
Review: Unfairly slammed by critics when it first came out, So I Married An Axe Murderer has become something of a cult film with a small, but dedicated following. I have always felt that this was Mike Myers' best (and most personal) film to date because he doesn't feel the need to hide behind tons of make-up as he does in the Austin Powers films and also the character of Charlie's dad and his insane love of all things Scottish seem to be an obvious reference to Myers' real-life dad. Everything about this film has an cozy, intimate vibe that is much more personal and engaging.

How can you go wrong with a killer cast like this one? First off, you've got Anthony LaPaglia who rarely does comedies and is just great as a frustrated cop who feels more like Fish from Barney Miller than Serpico; there's the kooky Amander Plummer playing yet another bizarro role (does she play any other kind?); the great Brenda Fricker as Charlie's very Scottish mom (another casting against type); and a whole slew of cameos ranging from Charles Grodin and Alan Arkin to Steven Wright and Phil Hartman.

What makes this film so good is the insanely quotable dialogue. Pretty much anything Myers says as his dad is classic ("HEAD! PANTS! NOW!") and the film really hits a groove when he's on-screen. There are a couple moments when you can see LaPaglia actually breaking character as he cracks up over Myers' Scottish rantings about the Pentavert! And then you've got Myers' dead-on homage/parody of Jack Kerouac-style Beat poetry that is so well done -- especially if you're familiar with his style of prose and the way he speaks it.

I really hope that some day soon Myers revisits this movie with a lavish special edition DVD treatment it so richly deserves. He's obviously hip to the medium, judging by the extras-packed editions of his Austin Powers films. In the meantime, fans will have to be content with this bare bones DVD, which at least, restores the film's theatrical aspect ratio.

Review: So funny. Classic Mike Meyers--I didn't even know the Scottish were so funny. Phil Hartman steals the show in a scene all about alcatraz. The movie shows all the best views in San Francisco.

Summary: one of my favorite movies
Review: This is by far one of my favorite movies. It's the kind of movie that gets better every time you see it. Mike Myers is amazing in both roles, and the casting of the other characters was done very well. Nancy Travis does a great job being the quirky butcher, and the the woman that plays Charlie's mother is hysterical. All the characters interact very well with each other. I truly think this is the best role Mike Myers has ever played. My kids and I watch this movie probably once a month or so, and laugh out loud every time.

Summary: This is the best Mike Myers Movie
Review: I have to take issue with the editorial reviewer's suggestion that Mike Myers's character work has nothing to do with the movie. On the contrary, it makes the movie. Some of the most memorable bits are where Myers plays the gruff Scottish father, for instance, he asks Travis if she likes her own sausage, then later belts out a drunken rendition of Da Ya Think I'm Sexy by (Scot) Rod Stewart with bagpipe accompaniment. Anthony LaPaglia and Alan Arkin are hilarious, and Amanda Plummer is well cast also. There are a few nice cameos as well. Free from the cliche and baggage of Austin Powers, this is the best Mike Myers movie.

Summary: So I Married An Axe Murderer
Review: My brother introduced me to this movie when I might have been too young to understand it. I fell in love with it and I haden't seen it for a long time. Then I found out one of my friends also liked it and I was thrilled! She had gotten the movie for christmas this year and we always watch it. This movie has a weird humor to it, either you like it or hate it. If you like Mike Myers in Goldmember you'll like him in this movie too. I also suggest the soundtrack, all the songs are great and fun to listen to. If you have a good sense of humor you should see/buy this movie!

Summary: Excuse me, miss?
Review: This is one of the best movies ever!... I can say this with some authority after 4 years of graduate film school at Columbia University and having seen hundreds of movies. That editorial reviewer was a mega film snob, gimmie a break. The performances were excellent, the twist brilliant--a clever script that never lags. I've seen this film dozens of times over the years and still laugh just thinking about some of the pee-in-your-pants funny moments. It rules. Buy it.

Summary: Great Movie!...
Review: I've been a big fan of this movie ever since I first saw it back when it first came out. Hillarious Movie. One of Mike Myers most underrated movies of all time. You thought Fat Bastard was funny in The Spy Who Shagged me, you ain't seen Mr. McKenzie in action. And the wedding was one of the best parts. Where else can you here a scotts man playing If Ya Want My Body on the bagpipes, then with Mike Myers singing it in his Scottish accent! Priceless![.] I am part Scottish by the way and took no offence to it just laughed so hard I thought I'd pee myself. Check this one out. Even non Mike Myers fans can be converted! My boyfriend is one that doesn't like Mike Myers at all and laughed at the whole movie with me! Definate classic in my book!

Summary: Hilarious; deserves to be a classic
Review: May just be my all time favorite movie. Got my family to view it over Xmas and we ended up watching it THREE times; they loved it as much as I do. I've been known to use it as a date screening movie. If a guy doesn't laugh, I know we have no future. (Though, to be fair, I do agree with another reviewer who wrote that the movie gets funnier each time you watch it.)
