Summary: I love this film
Review: What can I say I have the vhs of this movie and love it. To start I have been waiting for this to come to DVD for about a year and a half, and the best thing is I'm not that only one. I've spoken to several people about it. Now what to say about the film itself? it's riot of laughter. The humor is funny and childish, but I would have to say its for specific people. It's not really for people who live off the droned humor of late. It's more a for a fan of the stooges or evil dead. A cult film. I suggest you check it out.

Review: I can't say enough good things about this movie. I am overjoyed it is finally on DVD, revitalizing the classic. This movie is hilarious and is easily worth the money. You can't go wrong by purchasing this film. With the mass of [stuff] that Hollywood has thrown in our faces over the past couple years, and the unfortunate success of said films, you'll do yourself, and your DVD library, a great favor by picking this one up.

Review: Strange Brew is a fun and entertaining bit of Canadian slapstick. I give the movie 4 stars. It's the DVD that I'm unhappy with. The Bob and Doug McKenzie characters were honed on SCTV (Second City Television) back in the late '70s. Their skits revolved around Canadian stereotypes (especially their appearance and speech idioms), coupled with an insatiable fascination with beer. Layered on top was a charmingly naïveté and a classic brotherly rivalry. Doug (Dave Thomas) invariably dominated the diminutive Bob (Rick Moranis), both physically and mentally. Think of them as a kinder, gentler, Canadian dumb & dumber. The comedy of Bob and Doug transfers surprisingly well to the big screen. Even so, the movie is not nearly as funny as the SCTV skits. Still, it's funny enough to be worth owning for those who enjoy slapstick and camp, as well as for folks who are already Bob and Doug fans. It's also interesting to see some of Rick Moranis' early work, given that he's become such a big star in the past few years (Honey, I shrunk/blew-up the , Ghost Busters, Space Balls, Little Shop of Horrors, and MANY more).The DVD is another matter. Based on the information I've seen, there are no extra features on this DVD. It looks like this will just be the movie. I would have loved to have the two "hosers" themselves doing a commentary track (in character of course). That worked brilliantly on the Spinal Tap DVD, and would have been a great bonus here. Deleted scenes would have been nice too. Alas, it looks like an el cheapo production, where they just slap the movie down on DVD to take advantage of the booming DVD market without having to invest any effort. I HATE it when they do that! However, I will buy this DVD anyway, because this is something of a cult flick, and it's unlikely they will do a better job with it any time soon, if ever.

Review: Even if you don't know the McKenzie Bros, this movie is so stupid it is hilarious. There is truly some horrible acting in this movie besides the McKenzies, but it lends itself well to the overall feel of this movie. Canadians will either laugh or cry at the poking fun that goes on here, eh? ...

Review: Well, funniest Canadian movie anyway. I would not mind seeing a DVD release. I own all of my favourite movies on DVD except this one. If you like this movie, check out The Big Lebowski. Hurry up with that DVD already....

Review: I've watched this movie many times ... If you like moviews such as Happy Gilmore, Tommy Boy, The Water Boy, AND you like beer then this is your movie. It's a beer adventure that makes you want drink along the the boys.
It's got some really silly parts that will crack you up. The humour is across the board (slapstick, sight gags, etc) so it will appeal to most people's tastes.

Review: There are two movies which must be viewed every year before the start of hockey season - Slapshot and Strange Brew. High art? No. Good mindless entertainment for transplanted Candians who love hockey? ABSOLUTELY!

Summary: Why isn't this on DVD, eh ?
Review: This has long been one of my favourite movies;
it's profoundly silly, and goofy as all get out,
but I love it to bits ! Moranis & Thomas work together so well that you really believe that the dim-bulb Bob & Doug are for real. The fact that the film is a skewed take-off on "Hamlet" probably went over the heads of most of the "hosers" who first embraced this movie, but it's still one of my faves regardless. Why hasn't this been released as a "deluxe" DVD is what I wanna know, with audio commentary from the boys, and maybe the complete version of The Mutants of 2051 A.D.

Summary: Good movie, eh?
Review: A story about two Canadian guys who wind up saving the world when all they wanted was some free beer. Ingenious! I'm sure a lot of people will discourage against this movie just because it's so ridiculously silly, but that's half the fun. Strange Brew is just a lot of mindless enjoyment that, though not revolutionary, will surely promote a grand ol' time. It's like dragging the stupidity of Dumb and Dumber into Canada. However, unlike the Jim Carrey show, Strange Brew is nowhere near as offensive and crude. What makes this movie so funny is the goofy dialogue of the main characters and the outrageously silly obstacles they run into. Granted, the storyline is way too complex and complicated, but having two idiots caught in the middle of it develops the humor even more. What I have left to say is this: Strange Brew is a good, [fairly clean] movie that you'll be quoting for ages after you've seen it. This proves that movies don't have to be top of the line to be enjoyable.

Summary: Canadian Hosers in America love it
Review: One reviewer said we Canadians would be offended by this movie. On the contrary, we Canadians love laughing at our cultural peculiarites when they are spoofed (Hmmmm, some Americans would do well to lighten-up and follow our example). My wife and I recently watched this film for the first time in the 5 years we've been living in the USA, and we laughed non-stop. They delivered some exaggerated stereotypes, but they were valid stereotypes that brought tears of laughter to our eyes. I'm just pleased that some Americans would enjoy this movie. It was also an almost completely clean movie, contrasted with some of the improper comments and scenes in "Canadian Bacon" which was crafted more in the American tradition. Speaking of that movie, I thought the Mounties in dress reds patrolling the Toronto waterfront was a hoot, and the one mountie correcting the other's English, and especially the hockey scene comment "Canadian beer sucks!" I know, I digressed, but I'm enjoying some self-deprecating Canadian humour here and getting carried away. Besides, I noticed Amazon has packaged these two movies together. I think that Canadian Bacon was also a spoof on American attitudes towards Canada. I hope you Americans got the joke and didn't think you were observing reality.
