Summary: A comedic masterpiece that should be considered a classic.
Review: This is probably the funniest movie to come out of Canada. You have to smile at how ridiculously funny it is. Guaranteed to put a smile on your face every time.

A must have for all those hosers eh!

Summary: Favorite Movie
Review: I live in da northland, eh? I love these guys. If you think this movie is stupid or dumb, well then, you're getting it! It's kinda like Escanaba in da Moonlight, you either get it and love it, or you totally miss the point and hate it. I only wish there had been a sequel or two... eh? So... take off... eh?

Summary: Beauty movie, eh?
Review: I saw this movie in the theatre when I was a teenager, and I don't think I had ever laughed so hard in my life...the first fifteen minutes of this movie alone is absolutely unsurpassed in comedic cinema history.
>
Having said that, I realize that watching a movie when you're 15 and then watching the same movie when you're 35 can be two totally different experiences (this was REALLY driven home when I saw "Purple Rain" awhile back for the first time since high school...man, what was I THINKING?!). All the same, this movie is still funny as hell, and it still compares favorably with similar movies made these days; if you liked "Dude, Where's My Car?", you'll probably think this movie's a lot better (think of it as "Dude, Where's My Beer?").
>
The DVD presentation isn't as bare bones as I had initially feared (even though a Rick Moranis/Dave Thomas commentary track in character a la The Hanson Brothers on the most recent DVD re-issue of "Slap Shot" would've been a nice touch); the SCTV skit reminds you of why these guys caught on so well and achieved their cult following, and the animated bit is okay (if "Clerks" could go animated, why not the McKenzie Brothers?).
>
This is definitely a comedy "must-have", and I recommend basing a "Canadian Culture Night" party around this movie, with "Slap Shot" following it as a deserving chaser.

Cheers, eh?!

Summary: Bob & Doug in 3-B (Three beers)
Review: This farce DARES to call itself a comedy.
Bob & Doug must stop an evil genius (Max Von Sydow) from distributing a beer that's tainted with a mind controlling serum.
Rick Moranis & Dave Thomas were MUCH funnier than this on SCTV. The only part I laughed at is the "superdog" sequence...and that's it. The rest is filled with endless bathroom jokes, sadistic humor, and just plain nonsense. Max Von Sydow's wooden acting stinks on ice. Not even Mel Blanc's guest voice can save this movie. Not recommended. Take off, eh...this DVD!

Summary: SCTV Returns With This New DVD
Review: SCTV really had a cult following here in the states. It was not as regarded as Saturday Night Live, yet it spawned the careers of some very big stars.... John Candy, Eugene Levy, Martin Short, Catherine O'Hara, Rick Moranis, Harold Ramis, etc. Canadian broadcasting required at the time a few minutes of each show be themed towards a Canadian audience. So SCTV created the McKenzie brothers with Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas where they played two guys who enjoyed beer, hockey, and spoke with such an outlandish Canadian accent that it was funny. I don't remember seeing the sketch on American tv, but the sketch ironically became the most popular part of the show in Canada. So Strange Brew became one of the first feature films spawned off of a sketch comedy show..... years before Wayne's World ever existed. The movie itself is utterly ridiculous, but that is to be expected. It's probably best to watch this movie when drunk, because the humor is very dry and will go over most people's heads.

Summary: Watch this movie, eh.
Review: Ah Strange Brew. I have seen this movie countless times. I have never seen a more stupid movie. However, it works so well, that I love it. It's one of the original two clueless dudes movie. Imagine Jay and Silent Bob, make them live in Canada, remove the crude sex humor and replace it with Canada-speak, switch marijuana with beer, and add a scene involving a magic pinball machine. Maybe that helps. Basically, it's a movie about Canada and two heroes that are more clueless than George W. Bush. Toss in a visit to the insane asylum and Star Wars on Ice, a flying dog... well if you're still reading you're doing something wrong. Order this movie on DVD at once, then buy a VHS copy and watch it until the DVD comes in. That probably didn't help at all, but it might set the mood for the movie.

Summary: Good Day, eh !
Review: Good Day eh and welcome to my movie review. I gave this movie 3 beers, eh. 3 beers and it looks good !
This is one of the all time classics. If you love beer, love hockey and think Canadians are all ... canucks, then this is the movie for you. Get some popcorn, beer and a jelly doughnut and enjoy, eh.

Turn to the dark side of the Force you hoser.

Summary: A Comedic Canadian Gem!
Review: I have seen this movie many, many times. Each time it is as wonderful as the first! It is a basic story about two guys that love drinking beer and have to stop an evil maniac. This evil maniac just happens to be a brewmaster at a beer brewery. Dave Thomas and Rick Moranis, the McKenzie Brothers in the movie, started off with their comedy sketch on SCTV called "The Great White North" in which they used phrases like "Eh" and "Hoser" all the time. This movie is full of witty comedy and funny phrases like "If I didn't have puke breath right now, I'd kiss you." Totally hilarious. Our two heroes find themselves in all kinds of situations involving beer: their favorite thing in the world. They even get trapped inside of a large beer vat and have to drink their way out! Give this movie a try if you like good, in- your-face comedy, with just a splash of goofiness and stupidity!

Summary: This DVD better not be a disapointment
Review: Strange Brew is one of the funniest movies ever made. as long as this DVD is 5.1 and has afew decent extras on it it will be worth having. I have been looking forward to this release and can not wait till I can pick it up

Summary: Classic 80's Movie
Review: One of the all time great movies to be watched again and again. You have to learn all the lines! This has to be Rick Moranis' best performance ever. He'll never be able to top it. A great spin off of one of the greatest comedy TV shows (SCTV) skits, The Great White North. Many have been waiting and writing to Dave Thomas himself to find out when this movie would be released on DVD and now it is here. A definite must for anyones collection. A great family movie! Watch it with the kids. Only one seen where Bob and Doug see their mother and father (played by Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas) in a precarious situation. Other than that, it is clean, eh.
