Summary: DVD review
Review: Great movie that still holds up today. Chevy Chase and Anthony Michael Hall make the film with superb performances. As far as the DVD, don't buy this thinking you are 'upgrading' your collection to DVD because the quality is just not there. The disc picture quality is NO better than the VHS and is still pan-n-scan. I did a side by side and I think I almost prefer the VHS picture over the DVD, seems to be clearer. The sound is in MONO, which really takes away from the viewing enjoyment. The only reason to upgrade to DVD on thid one would be for the theatrical trailer or convience of chapter search. There also are a few cast bios but nothing more. I'm almost positive that Criterion or someone will re-release this as a special edition SOMEDAY, as this is a really disgraceful handling of an American Treasure.

Summary: One of the best in the vacation series
Review: This is a very funny movie. It's about Clark Griswold taking his family to wallyworld, a popular theme park. On the road Clark encounters every problem possible. There are many funny scenes like when they sing the wallyworld national anthem, or when clark flirts with a beautiful blonde at an ice-cold hotel swimming pool. Aunt Edna is also truly hilarious. This movie should definently be R. No one under 13 should see this(I accidently saw it!!).This movie stars: Chevy Chase as Clark Griswold, Beverly d Angelo as Ellen Griswold, and Randy Quaid as Cousin Eddy.

Summary: National Lampoon's Vacation By Mark Stassen
Review: Dir:Harold Ramis.Starring Chevy Chase,Randy Quaid,Beverly D'Angelo,Dana Barron,Christie Brinkley,John Candy,Brian Doyle Murray.(1983) 99mins.Clark Griswold(Chevy)and his rowdy family embark on a exausting journey cross country,in search of Wally World, a very popular theme park. Unfortunately things go very wrong ,when Clark pays Cousin Eddy(Quaid)a long awaited visit on their remote farm. There is a hilarious scene where Clark flirts with the stunning, sexy Christie Brinkley at an ice cold swimming pool. There are also memorable performances by the late John Candy,Brian Doyle Murray and Eddie Bracken. In my opinion this movie,is the real deal, because we all know about holidays gone wrong, and it's fun to laugh about it once and a while ! Did you know that the opening song (Holliday Road) is sung by Lindsay Buckingham, formerly of Fleetwood Mac? Mark Stassen.

Summary: Very Funny Movie but ........
Review: If you've ever taken "the family truckster" cross country, you will absolutely love this movie. The cast is perfect and the story outrageous, but grounded just enough in reality to be believable. Who doesn't have a Cousin Eddie in the far side of the family tree? This movie has become one of my favorites as have the sequels. My only complaint is this movies transfer to DVD. I've always felt movies on DVD should at least be available in widescreen format. "Vacation" could have benefited from this, but the movie is strong enough that I could overlook this omission. What I couldn't ignore was the terrible sound quality. The movie is in Dolby Digital 1.0 which as I understand it is glorified one-channel mono! I expected at the very least STEREO. I can't believe this movie was released to theaters in mono, so why release the DVD in mono? The picture quality is better than videotape, but again not exceptional. Good, but not exceptional. This film is a favorite for many of us. If you've never seen it, by all means do so. I only wish Warner Brothers had done a better job on the DVD transfer. Just imagine if the secondary audio track had included a running commentary from Chevy Chase, Beverly D'Angelo and Harold Ramis. As it is, the DVD version of this wonderful film is less than it could have been.

Summary: Absolutely hilarious! I highly recommend this!
Review: If you're looking for a good, hard, real laugh then look no further than "National Lampoon's Vacation" - the first in the series of Chevy Chase's Griswald Family Vacation films. If you've ever been on the trip from hell then this will probably be one of the funniest films you will ever see. It is absolutely hilarious. Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo have perfect comic timing and the right amount of chemistry in their roles as the parents. Anthony Micahel Hall and Dana Barron are also very funny as their two cynical kids. I highly recommend this film to anyone.

Summary: Excellent entertainment
Review: "Vacation" may be Chevy Chase's best film. It's extremely funny, witty, and the main actors are all very good. Randy Quaid's portrayal of cousin "Eddie" is hilarious.

Summary: Lots of Laughs!
Review: This movie is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. I've seen all the vacation series and I love them all! Vacation is funny basicly because of the plot. A very stupid family goeing on a cross country disaster! I don't think this movie should have been rated R because Kids would laugh just as much as adults would! So take my advice-no matter how old you are-and see this movie!

Summary: FUNNY AS HELL!!!!
Review: When I first saw this movie on TBS I was laughing hysterically but knew I was missing something. So the next day I bought the unedited version and it was even funnier than before. Its too bad the sequels stunk though they would have been good with Anthony Michael Hall as Rusty.

Summary: A deterrent from taking long car trips cross-country
Review: A humorous film about a very successful, yet gullible family man who drags the clan two-thirds across the country to an overrated, fictitious theme park. This film vicariously places the audience in all-too common situations that so many travellers have experienced; it almost serves as a warning to anyone thinking about taking a long trip. The Griswold family seem to be in situations strangely similar to those experienced by the Joads in John Steinbeck's "The Grapes of Wrath". Anyway, the film is full of laughable situations. All the while I got to thinking "Better you than me, Chevy"!

Summary: Better Than the Europeaners
Review: This one is the 3rd best next to European. Great Jokes and Walley World, what a spoof. The best part of the movie is probably when Clark says, We Are Gonna Have So Much fun it'll take Plastic Surgery to remove the smiles from our faces.
