Review: This is the worst movie i ever bought according to reviews from editorial amazon, the film budget is poor 4 million, revenues prove it and acting is terrible (also the filming) i will never buy according to editorial revue again cause they decieve u with nice wordings into buying (or they will be out of there jobs !!!)

Summary: It doesn't go BANG! tsk tsk.
Review: Unfortunately, the only way audiences seem to be satisfied with a picture they view is if every line and every scene is delivered to them via a baseball bat to the skull. Humor and emotions have to be so brutally transparent so as one can assume zero brain wave activity and still fully enjoy the movie.
To those who gave this movie less than 3 stars, I pity you. Life must be dreadfully boring.
I thought the cinematography, dialogue and acting were superb. I think it is an accomplishment when a movie can set a certain mood and be able to work within its parameters not searching for cheap thrills.
There is wonderful chemistry between the characters and the humor, although not delivered by Bozo the clown, is found throughout.
In short, I loved it.

Summary: Not Good, Not Horrible
Review: I saw this film with high expectations and was pretty dissapointed. I'm a big fan of Bill Murray and his peformance was good, so that wasn't the problem. This movie had very little going on, I was just bored throughout the whole thing. It's about a man, Bill Murray, who is on a business trip in Japan, trying to launch an alcohol brand that he is the spokesman for. While on this trip, he meets a young woman, played by Scarlett Johanson, who is recently married and confused with what she wants out of life. The two instantly connect and quickly become close friends. Not much else goes on in this film. It's boring and I was tempted to just turn it off and do something else, but I finished it anyway. If you're a fan of Bill Murray you may like this film, but if you're looking for something entertaining, this isn't the film to pick.

Review: Tokyo does most of the talking in this movie. The script is very bare. The pacing is sloooow, so don't watch it when you're tired, unless you're looking to fall asleep. I was disappointed that their relationship had to turn to romance. How original and unpredictable. Nineteen-year-old actress, fifty-something actor--inappropriate and grossly overdone in Hollywood.

Summary: A movie for some
Review: Different strokes for different folks. Some people like action and predictability, obvious and sudden plot twist, or everything tied up in a nice little package and all loose ends addressed by conclusion, with critical problems solved by impossible "coincidences", and/or humor that hits them over the head or jumps out at them. This movie has none of that. I must admit that I've enjoyed movies that were chock full of that stuff, but a lot of the time that stuff leaves me feeling cheated and let down and it starts to get old after a while. This movie is really good and I like it better each time, but I'm sure I could burn it out (like I always do). The turning point and crucial moment for me (as if this movie really has one)... Well without spoiling it?.."more then this" (you have to watch to understand).. the look on their faces, subtle, I know, but realistic, the looking away nervousness, that's how most people would be, me included. I now can't get that song out of my head, even though that song is used in so many romantic moments in movies it's cliche, ( wow I found one where none were supposed to exist!), but the song is presented uniquely and it really fits this movie to a t. Bill Murray was great, and Scarlett Johansson was really wonderful and she is also very beautiful. You can't help but enjoy watching her. Sophia Copala did a wonderful job at conveying deep feelings and meanings with stillness and minimalistic expression. I really like the scenery of Japan and the nightlife in contains. I've only watched it on the dish and have it recorded, but this is one I will be owning. Very human.

Review: Would you consider this a movie? There is no plot. I like movies where there is actually a story line. I can see there was no thought in making the movie. It only took 28 days to make it and plus, it isn't even funny. I didn't even chuckle once. When you buy DVDs, stay 3 feet away from this movie.

Summary: Interesting idea, but racist
Review: People visiting cultures unfamiliar to them as well as being adrift in their own lives in an interesting premise. That they find each other and connect may provide a satisfying movie.But I could just not get over the constant racism of the movie: it may be funny at some level for Bill Murray's character to be confused by a Japanese speaking director in Japan, but the movie seems to imply that these Japanese are just weird and insensitive. And Charlotte's youthful Japanese buddies are so stereotyped that they are insulting to all Japanese. Just consider the impact if instead of Japan, the characters were placed in Harlem and the film went out of it way to stereotype and insult the people who live there.

Summary: What A Bunch Of Rubbish!
Review: Okay, here it is, the truth: This movie is so boring that I had to drink three Pepsis and eat a half-a-gallon of chocolate just to prop my eyes open. And for those of you trying to convince the rest of us the movie was too complicated for the average-Joe - or in my case, Jodie - to understand, give it a rest. I think the people who like this film may want to consider discussing Prozac with their doctor next visit. That's all. Please don't waste your money or your time. Watching grass grow is more fun.

Summary: Lost on me.
Review: I'm sorry but what's the big deal here? Lots of dead spots. The academy awards nominations were what attracted me to rent this. Bill Murray is amusing as a lonely 50 something man far from his comfort zone. Scarlett Johansson is cute & pulls off being older than her 18 years. She is also lonely in Tokyo. They find each other, bond & have some adventures in the big city. It doesn't become sexual which is good. Their affection for each other is genuine & their parting is a nice tender moment. The real star of this movie is Tokyo.

Summary: This film really grabbed me
Review: I rented this movie on DVD because I've always liked Bill Murray and was intrigued to see a movie for which he won a Golden Globe award as an actor. The movie sat in my room for days -- looking at it I wasn't overwhelmed to watch it after all. I decided to watch it finally, as I'd paid to rent it. I became lost in their world for two hours, and at the end of the movie I felt horrible for the two main characters. As another reviewer wrote, I really felt that Bob was leaving Tokyo and Charlotte was staying, and my heart ached for them. I was completely drawn into their relationship, brief as it was. I loved the acting. I loved the script -- it was funny where it needed to be, and serious where it needed to be; and Sofia Coppola didn't feel the need to put too many words into the actors mouths during intimate and/or uncomfortable moments. I've never felt compelled to write a review about a movie ever before. I'm a 41 year old male doctor, father of 5.
