Summary: Not that funny
Review: Hey, it was suppose to be stupid. Only problem, it wasn't that funny. The trailers contained around half the laughs I got out of the movie. END

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Not as funny as the trailers
Review: This film tried for campy humor like Dr. Stranglove, but it fell short, in my opinion. The quality actors in the cast didn't use their talents. The funniest parts of the movie were in the trailers. END

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: The only good thing about this movie is special effects.
Review: It was dissapointing to watch this movie. It makes you keep on waiting and waiting to see what is going to happen and you say "oh well, I have nothing else to do" and finally when you think someting is happening in the movie you sadly find out that it is all what you predicted. END

Summary: mars attacks-an all star cast
Review: well theres not much of a story.mars attacks.stars are many.jack nicholson is the president.christina applegate is a rednecks ol lady.is that wyona ryder?maybe not.danny devito plays a gambler.wayne newton as well wayne newton.the kids can watch it,but it could freak out the real little ones.tim burton directs this one so it is great as usual.it is one of his best films.there are many creative ideas and imagination galore all throughout this one.the aliens are abselutely hysterical.christina applegate is in it but only for a second.then theres this chick who cheats on michael j fox with pierce brosnan.is this guy always stealing someones woman on his movies?anyway, shes tacky.the hippie chick in it is hot but very deeply emotionaly disturbed.this is a really funny movie and everyone but jack nicholsons personal best.the special effects are not fantastic but the ideas that go into them are very creative.

Summary: Hollywood Attacks
Review: "Mars Attacks!" a film by director Tim Burton, was like a 1996 who's who of the movie industry. Stars were not attracted by a script that showed high art or the greatest feat of the screen writers guild, but rather the chance to work on a fun movie with an amazing director.

"Mars Attacks!" is viually appealing, special effects were state of the art for the time of the movie, and the concept built around a "Topps" trading card set was a wonderful parody of 1950's sci-fi/ horror movies.

The all star cast: Jack Nicholson, Annete Bennning, Michial J. Fox, Glenn Closse, Natalie Portman and Tom Jones (to name a few), were all in rare and wonderfully funny form.

Unlike the majority of director Tim Burton's work, this film is by no means "dark," but both funny and satirical at the same time. The movie is well made, fast paced, funny and a feast for the eyes.

This is by no means high art (or even middle art for that matter), but worth a watch. A definite must for any Burton fan, or fan of those cheesy old sci-fi movies that it is poking fun at.

Summary: gets funnier and stranger every time I see it
Review: is one one strange funny movie
it has humor
and some very odd plot to it
the aliens are freaky looking
the whole mowie is amazing
the ending is very interesting
but I like the movie and cast of characters
I'll be laughing every time I watch this on my player
Tim Burton is just as amazing here as he was when he made Batman with Michael Keaton and Kim Basinger and Jack Nicholson among many of the great people who played in the movie

Summary: Utterly wretched
Review: They can't even give this pile of dross away in the £2-99 bargain bucket any more. Why? Because word has got around that it is a complete waste of 100 minutes.

Never funny enough to work as comedy and certainly not intelligent enough to work as satire, let alone sci-fi, Mars Attacks fails miserably on all accounts.

Cackhanded direction generates not even a wry grin from the very weak and thinly spread visual gags, and the (surprisingly strong) cast appear to be just going through the motions. What on Earth were Nicholson and Close thinking of when they got involved with this turkey?

The lowest point in Tim Burton's career.

Summary: One of my guilty pleasures
Review: As I noted in my review of "Night of the Comet" (NotC), there are movies that really impress you when you first see them, but disappoint on subsequent viewings. Like NotC, This is one of the few that flips that one its head. When I first saw it in the theater, I was mildly amused but generally underwhelmed. Then I saw it on video and it seemed better. Since then, I've watched it a number of times and each time, it seems to get better (except for some of the business with Tom Jones).

The sad thing is that I can still see why I didn't like it in the first place and so I feel guilty about enjoying it so much. I can live with that, though.

This film deftly skewers everyone and everything - politicians, the military, rednecks, lawyers, new agers, entertainers, scientists, journalists, the media, business people, seniors, you name it, they're all fair game. What's shocking is that as you watch it, you can identify each of the characters with someone in real life!

A guilty pleasure to be sure, but still a pleasure.

Summary: How Trusting Can One Race Be?
Review: Mar's Attacks is a comedy/Sci-Fi/action adventure film with a multi-talented star cast in a world where Jack Nicholson is the president of the United States. The country lets down its guard to accept the Martian Ambassador only to be surprisingly attacked by the Martians on national television.

If that seemed rather foolish, then it should be no surprise to you that the Martians offer to publicly apologize to the United States in front of Congress, and as you can probably predict, another surprise attack wipes out the Congress of the United States. I never stopped being shocked at the ways the Martians treated their captives or at seeing the star cast die at the hands of the Martians.

It was bad enough to see the United States with their pants down to the attacks. Then the President of France calls the President of the United States bragging that he had negotiated a Martian peace treaty. Of course the President of the United States, at this point in time, began to suspect the Martians of being nothing less than obliterators of the human race and tried to warn the French President however it was too late.

The final attempt to make peace with the Martians comes when they bust into the White House to greet the President and what is left of his staff. I will let you watch the movie to see what happens in this scene.

The hero of this movie is bound in a quiet teenage male named Richie (Lukas Haas) who strives to obtain his parents' acceptance after the Martians murdered his brother. Richie is especially interested in saving his grandmother, who helps him to save the world against the Martians.

This movie, for me, is like several of Tim Burton's other films in that the animated actors in this film seemed to find their way into my heart. No wonder human kind can be so trusting and believing. I give this movie three stars because I felt the repetition of the gullible nature of humans really should have sank in after the first two times. I found the movie slightly humorous and I will watch it again...sometime in the future.
