Summary: Dr. Evil is the king of comedy.
Review: Sure, Austin is great. "Yeah, baby! Yeah!" But I must say, Dr. Evil totally stole this movie just like he did the first one. He is sooo funny. "No, Mini-me, we don't gnaw on our kitt-y." HAHA! The best is in the beginning when he's on the Jerry Springer Show and he steals the KKK dude's hat! BAHAHAHAHAHA! "He's not quite evil enough. Well, it's true! You're quasi-evil, you're semi-evil...you're the Diet Coke of evil." If you haven't seen this movie, you don't know what you're missing. And as much as I liked the first one, this one takes the cake, baby! YEAH!

Summary: A must-see DVD
Review: DVDs like this one, and the original 'Austin Powers' are what owning a DVD Player is all about. You could spend an entire evening just watching the DVD bonus material which in this case includes 20 minutes of deleted material (and there are scenes here that ABSOLUTELY should have been kept in the movie -- especially Austin shaking hands with Robin Swallows, and Doctor Evil's revolving chair). When I saw this movie in a theatre, I was slightly disappointed -- but it seems much funnier on home video.

Summary: PEOPLE TODAY REALLY SCARE ME!
Review: The first AUSTIN was hysterical and smart! This new one was very sad and horrible. All there was were the same jokes tht weren't even executed well....austin was extremely dull this time and didn't even have the same pizzazz...hell,it seemed mike myers even forgot how austin talks.smae with Evil!I know this movie was meant to be very funny, and everyone said it was better than the first, but after i got done watching it,I got chills down my spine.......I didn't laugh even once through the film and it scares me that people think this is the funniest movie ever...wwaaaaaahht? This movie is probably on the many small things that you think nothing about,a small measure for the government to brainwash"If you don't believe me,stop watching tv and movies for a while....only read the paper every other day and you will start to see what I mean!Oh did i mention this movie is not funny?lol wake up people!

Summary: This movie is Hilarious
Review: Austin Powers will make you laugh til it hurts. Mini Me is a riot. And Dr. Evil is better than the first. Michael Myers is the king of riot. He is the greatest.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Completely unoriginal...but you still laugh sometimes.
Review: You can count on one hand the number of jokes that weren't in the first one.The movie is about 15 minutes too long -- the musical numbers should have just been released on MTV and left out of the film.

Obviously, if you love Austin Powers and the first movie you're going to like this all right, but -- I hate to break it to you -- this movie is not clever. It lacks all of the subtlety and freshness of the original. It is warmed over.

It amazes me that they even had the nerve to release this movie -- they could have made it so much better. Was Wayne's World II even this unoriginal? All four Pink Panther sequels are better sequels than this film -- even the one they made after Peter Sellers was dead.

Supposedly, Myers is going to make one of these things every few years. I hope they go back to the drawing board, because if they don't change this formula, it's just going to get increasingly worse and more stale, and that would be an unfortunate fate for characters that were as funny as Austin/Dr Evil.

I should point out that I liked the first movie just fine. I thought it was mostly clever and original (except for the stuff ripped off from Casino Royale, et al). But "The Spy Who Shagged Me" is just a half-hearted effort aimed at making money. How else can you explain the inclusion of the stupid musical numbers and the Virgin, Heineken, and other product placements. Isn't it conspicuous that the movie promotes Will Smith in two forms: "his" song "Just the Two of Us" and "Independence Day"? Well, even if not conspicuous, it's stupid.

Here is a philosophical question: if they had released this movie first, and "International Man of Mystery" (IMM) as the sequel, would everyone still think "IMM" was funny? Would I think "TSWSM" was funny? I wonder.

Oh, yeah. Heather Graham, as much as I love her, did not act in this movie. She just said words. She's better in Bowfinger, and better still in Boogie Nights.

Anyway, here's the bottom line: if you only half-liked the first one, don't bother with the sequel. On the other hand, if you're one of those people who thinks other people who say "Oh, be-HAVE" are funny, then -- by all means -- run right out and buy or rent this low-quality movie. You'll love it.
