Summary: A Feel-Good Movie
Review: Even though the plot of the movie can remind you of leap the faith and sister act 2, it was well put together and the soundtrack is awesome. Everytime the choir sings it makes you wish that you were in the movie singing with them. To understand the comedy in the church scenes, I guess you must have to be a true church goer. If it was just based on the acting I would give it two stars but the soundtrack is so good, I have to boost it up to four.

Summary: the fighting temptations is a great date flick.
Review: As you sit down and watch the fighting temtations your immediatly hit with the witty anticdotes of the wonderful cuba' and the beutiful beonce'; just because she is in the movie alone you will not have any difficulties sitting through the whole film. She looks great! Then, as the plot builds one of the fastes rappers on earth hits the screen. T-bone blows up three minutes of this hyped up track that has the whole crowd throwing up their hands and saying oh yea big baby, play dat beat. This is a great film to take that girl or guy who doesn't laugh at anything too.

Summary: Appalling to say this but...Cuba Gooding's WORST MOVIE EVER!
Review: Cuba Gooding Jr., purveyor of truly awful films such as "Boat Trip", "Snow Dogs" and "Chill Factor", has reached new depths with his latest offering, "The Fighting Temptations". He has now officially squandered any last remnants of goodwill he had left from his Oscar win for "Jerry Maguire" (his good movie) in 1997.

I caught this film on an airplane flight from NY to LA, and let me tell you...even then I felt like I had wasted my time! Because I could have stared straight ahead at the seat in front of me and been more entertained! Other reviewers are defending this movie by talking about how great the music is. Fine, buy the soundtrack but whatever you do...DON'T SEE THIS MOVIE! Good music does not a good movie make! Go see Blues Brothers, which is a superior movie, plus has Gospel music sung by James Brown! Who, in case you were wondering, is cooler than Beyonce Knowles!

The acting in Temptations is beyond awful all around (Beyonce, we hardly knew ye) the insipid plot is embarassingly predictable (guess who wins the gospel competition at the end of the film) and this movie has the distinction of having perhaps the fakest corporate meeting in the history of phony movie corporate meetings.

Are we supposed to care about any of these characters? Gooding's character is a habitual liar that fakes his resume, leads a gospel choir because he wants his aunt's inheritance, and shamelessly hits on Beyonce Knowles. And we're supposed to care about him because...?

But if you aren't looking for things such as plot, good acting or a well-written script, then by all means buy this dvd and put it on your shelf next to "Gigli", "Battlefield Earth", "From Justin to Kelly", and "Glitter", other films you surely own.

Summary: The musical is back
Review: Cuba was great, even Beyonce was good (singing) not acting. I loved the supporting cast and the old school gospels were wonderful to hear. This is a light-hearted, feel good movie. If you don't like it or think it is boring, as one review said, they must be the boring ones.....or perhaps it was a bit over their heads.....maybe they didn't understand the black church or humor.....get over it.....this movie was da bomb!

Summary: tempted 2 buy temptations?.... YES!
Review: Fighting temptations is a sweet, cool film, with so many amazingly talented actors who can not only act but r amazing singers too.
Although there are slightly cringingly corny moments the wonderful + light comedy of the film satifyingly over shadows it.
Beyonce adds a real sexy and classy touch to the film and the astounding sultryness of her voice is bound to hav u admiring her many a time. The funky and soulful songs not only makes u wana get up and sing and dance but go down 2 ur local HMV + buy the soundtrack!
The downsides r if ur not in2 gospel or singin, this movie is definetly not 4 u!
Although this is a real feel good movie all over, i did feel like there was Somthin missin.

Hope my review helped u make the right choice ***

Summary: No excessive violence nor demeaning sex scenes!!!
Review: Finally a movie for ordinary people who are sick and tired of all the violence, stupidity, and excessive sexuality. If I look at most movies coming out of the industry I would conclude that most movie moguls must be the meanest, nastiest people on earth. "Fighting Temptations," is a refreshing, change, thank God.

Summary: Big Fun
Review: I actually didn't have high expectations for this film. I just went to be social with a good friend. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this movie!!!

It was laugh out loud funny and the music was fantastic! You'll appreciate it best if you grew up baptist as I did. But, even if you've never been in a gospel choir (like my friend Lois); you'll laugh until you cry and you'll clap until the movie ends and if you're smart, you'll leave the theater, go right to the Borders next door, get the soundtrack and bounce all the way home!!! Special note: not every song from the movie is on the soundtrack. How else would they make room for all that new music by Beyonce? Sorry not a big fan.

Summary: Uplifting, .. and EXTREMELY feel-good..
Review: I don't own the DVD (YET...) but I did see the movie at the theater. If you don't feel better at the end of this movie than you did at the beginning, YOU'RE DEAD!! This movie is not only entertaining, but it also teaches a wonderful lesson in personal values. Cuba's character starts out directing the choir of a Church in the town of his youth, only for the promise of an inheritance of $150,000.00 (contingent on them winning a gospel choir contest..), but ends up doing it because it's the right thing to do, and turns down the money. This is a decent family movie, and I highly recommend it.. I will be purchasing this dvd VERY soon. And the soundtrack as well! May God richly bless you.. This movie CERTAINLY will!!

Summary: Good
Review: I enjoyed this movie. I got to see it one week in NYC,before it opened nationwide every where else. The music will get you every time. Beyonce singing "Fever" will have some of the brothers drooling for a minute, and Cuba Gooding Jr is good in his role. Look forward to it being on video.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Good Viewing For The Entire Family
Review: I just finished watching The Fighting Temptations and give it a solid 4 stars. The music was great and I wasn't worried about my son hearing or seeing anything inappropriate. Although Cuba Gooding Jr. may not win Best Actor for this performance, he held his own for what he had to work with. Beyonce' is an excellent singer, which makes up for her "just okay" acting in this movie. There was absolutely no chemistry between Cuba and Beyonce' but the movie needed a good singer and a good actor to try and balance the tastes of moviegoers. I'm not mad at that. I would recommend giving this movie a chance for the music and positive message.
