Summary: Out of the era where craziness reined supreame
Review: Out of the late 70s and through the earliy eighties came some of the greatest comedies that man kind has ever known. Amoung them the Sequel to Airplane. A satire film dedicated to mocking disaster films (like Airport), and in this case, space disasters as the cast and crew are off to the first settlement on the moon when a sabature reeks havick on the computer system. The computer goes hayware and once again Stryker must save the day. Although the plot of this movie is pretty much the same as the first there is a slugh of new gags, plus some old ones revisited that makes this movie a great companion to the original. Like the first the movie is filled with many-a-hillarious moments that will keep just about anyone laughing. There are a few time sensative gags that some might not understand if they were not around for that era, but not as many as the original or other movies from this era. I was very happy when I got this DVD. However a warning to parents: although this movie is rated PG it does feature some brief nudity and a lot of PG-13 level jokes. This movie is not appropriate for children despite its PG rating.

Summary: Over Mucho Grande?
Review: No, I will never be over Mucho Grande...those wounds run awful deep.

In a galaxy far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far away, the lovely Princess smiled as she saw the knight enter her room. The princess took off her dress, revealing her lovely round...

Wait a minute! This is Airplane II, not star wars! This movie is just as good as the oringal, and has more one liners!

"We all have our little blinking buttons"
"Over Mucho Grande?"
"Ted Striker got more guts in him than we got in our little finger, INCLUDING THE COLON!"

Summary: Hilarious BECAUSE some jokes are recycled
Review: Airplane II is the perfect sequel to a parody movie like Airplane!. As a major complaint about sequels is they simply repeat the original with subtle changes it only makes sense for the sequel to Airplane to address this directly by almost copying some jokes almost verbatim. I sometimes enjoy the sequel more because the jokes never stop, in Airplane!, the last 20 minutes were slow with the jokes as the plot was being wrapped up.

I am giving the DVD only 1 star because it only has the movie, no special features not even an audio commentary. I would have loved to have the theatrical version and a version with every scene available. The movie is only 86 minutes; there would have been room on the DVD.

The movie itself gets 5 stars

Summary: I like silly comedies with nonsensical humor!!
Review: Not as funny as Airplane but still has some hilarious scenes especially William Shatner's spoofing Star Trek with his character Murdoch looking at the blinking red lights on the computer panel and going crazy because of the constant blinking and his looking though a periscope and seeing the Enterprise, and also funny is the spoof of Hal the computer from 2001 a Space Odyssey. Okay I like intelligent dramas and comedies too but I also like a silly movie like this that has slapstick sight gags silly dialogue and just nonsensical humor because it is so silly that it is perfect to watch when you have had a terrible day and you are feeling a lttle down, when I have had a day like that a movie like this makes me feel better!

Summary: Pale and Lame Sequel To The Original Classic.
Review: Airplane 2 just doesn't fly. The humor is very tasteless and the plot is supposed to be funny...but it comes off as dull and just really .... Robery Hayes and Julie Hagerty try to save it's bad and unfunny screenplay, but their winning spree eventully dies out anyway, and it goes on without any warning.

Summary: More Groans Than Laughs
Review: Weak, derivative, and thoroughly unfunny - classic example of a studio cashing in with the old Good Movie Rehash. (...). Although what's funny and what isn't is often a matter of opinion, the element of surprise is what defines humor. We laugh when the unexpected happens. But having seen it all before in the original, nothing - and I mean NOTHING - is funny in Airplane 2. Even the new jokes are variations on a theme. Save your money and watch Airplane! twice.

Summary: Pales in Comparison
Review: While "Airplane" is my favorite movie of all time, "Airplane II" just barely rates as funny. The sequel to the original hit is too much like its predecessor. Most everything about this movie is the same as the first.

Ted Striker (Robert Hays) is a down-and-out pilot trekking on a flight after his stewardess ex-girlfriend Elaine Dickinson (Julie Hagerty). During the flight, a passenger played by Sonny Bono, hijacks the plane with a bomb. This isn't just any old plane; it's a low-orbit shuttle.

After the pilot and co-pilot are incapacitated, it's up to Striker to bring the plane down safely. He does so with the help of the control tower crew, which includes characters played by Lloyd Bridges and William Shatner.

Had they done something different with the sequel, it might have been a success in its own right. However, by making it so much like the first one, "Airplane II" is held up to too high of a standard and falls very flat on its face.

Watch "Airplane II" for a lesson in how not to capitalize on a successful movie. For a good movie see the original.

Summary: Shatner comedy
Review: I happened to catch this on tv the other day with Airplane! before it. One word sums up this movie: GOLD. Shatner, Hays, everyone are all hilarious. I guarentee you, buy this and it's preddesesor and you'll not be dissapointed.

Summary: Airplane 2 Crashes
Review: Sequels are often cheap imitations of the original and more often than not, they're usually pretty bad. And "Airplane 2: The Sequel" is no exception. The producers and writers of this lackluster endeavor obviously didn't put a lot of thought or effort into making this film. Much of the material is nothing more than a variation of what was in the original "Airplane!," which makes for a rather dull and predictable movie.

In "Airplane 2," the writers do try to vary the plot a bit by changing the venue to the 21st century but this does more harm than good. This futuristic setting has some comic aspects but it never really connects with the audience. There are also some futile attempts at political/ethnic/sexual humor but they too fall flat.

This is a second-rate movie that never gets off the ground. Don't waste your money on it.

Summary: A good sequel to the original blockbuster
Review: The original "Airplane!" is one of my favorite movies of all time and one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. "Airplane 2 - The Sequel" is also funny, but it's not as funny as the original blockbuster movie. In this one, a shuttle is on its way to the moon, but it gets majorly off course and is headed almost straight for the sun instead. A lot of the original cast members are back in this sequel such as Julie Haggerty and Robert Hays. However, some such as Leslie Nielsen are not back, but there are some new and funny cast members such as William Shatner as Murdock.

"Airplane 2 - The Sequel" has the same kind of hilarious antics that the original movie had such as when Julie Haggerty tells everybody that they might not make it because they're going through an asteroid belt. At that statement none of the passengers hardly have any reaction, but when she tells everybody that they're out of coffee, everybody goes ballistic. Another good parody is when William Shatner is looking through space with the aid of a periscope and he sees the Enterprise that he commanded in the original series of Star Trek flying in space.

If you liked "Airplane!," I recommend getting "Airplane 2 - The Sequel." It's not as classic or as good as "Airplane!," but it's still funny and it's a fairly decent sequel.
