Summary: GREAT MOVIE
Review: In contrast to the review "Run for the hills" , I would like to say that this movie is extremely funny, and has non-stop laughs the whole time. How can this movie make you sick? That's kinda sad also that you immediately hate people that liked this movie. Maybe YOU didn't see the jokes, but trust me they are there.
I LOVE THIS MOVIE!
First-time miss congenialty watchers, Don't take this movie too personally, considering the fact I don't know how you could. It is Sandra Bullock's BEST yet.

U know the story and trust me it rocks. Sandra is a tough around the edges FBI agent, who gets talked into going undercover into a beauty pageant! Let's just say what is her worst nightmare, is also SANDRA BULLOCK BEST MOVIE!!
Whenever you are feeling low, turn this on, and the laughs will have you rolling.
Some of the great scenes between Sandra Bullock and Micheal Caine are pure genius. Such as when Gracie has to wear a swim suit for competition or when Vic has Gracie up late doing walk about routines and she tries to steal food. I would LOVE to see this movie in theathers, again.
Also Candice Bergen is awesome of the keep you guessing villain.
-Give this WONDERFUL movie a try, and you won't be disappointed.

Summary: SANDRA'S BEST!
Review: A great version of "My Fair Lady". The jokes are non-stop and Sandra Bullock is GREAT as Gracie Hart, a tomboy FBI agent, who has to go undercover at the Miss United States pagent. It's her worst nightmare, but it makes a GREAT MOVIE.
I watch this film when I'm feeling low, and by the end I laughing my head off.
A must for Sandra Bullock fans!

Summary: Hilarious possibly the best movie I ever saw!!!

Summary: Just give it a chance!
Review: I was hesitant like many to watch this movie, but ended up surprised once I watched it. First of all, Sandra Bullock really plays the tough FBI agent before her "makeover." If you hadn't seen her in a movie before, you would really think she WAS actually that rough around the edges and then some. She's so likeable. You find yourself happy she's finally figured out how to hang with the girls, but still maintains her toughness through it all. Her co-stars are very talented as well. Michael Cain and Benjamin Bratt (meow!) are funny and the banter between the girls is typically catty but funny as well. I really enjoyed this movie and was surprised when my picky, non-chickflick liking husband liked it too. WATCH THE MOVIE! :)

Summary: RUN FOR THE HILLS!!!
Review: One night I got stuck hanging out with some really loopy girls who wanted to see Miss Congeniality. I agreed only because Sandra Bullock is attractive, or so I thought...

After seeing Miss Congeniality, I actually developed an impressive list of symptoms which occur whenever I see Sandra Bullock. The three most common are vomiting, muscle cramps, and uncontrollable fits of crying. Miss Congeniality was THAT bad.

Where to start? The movie was not funny at all. There were no funny jokes and nothing interesting happened. I have blocked most of the events of this film out of my mind due to extreme trauma. All I can remember is feeling like I was falling into a dark world of hate for what seemed like months. DO NOT BUY, RENT, or EVEN WATCH Miss Congeniality.

Also beauty pageants are worthless and vain. Anybody who has competed on one is less of a human being for doing so.

PS I no longer speak to any of these girls who liked this movie. In fact, one girl wanted to go on a date with me and I turned her down solely because the fact that she laughed at Miss Congeniality made her seem like less of a woman to me. WARNING: Women who like this movie will never have a boyfriend who isn't completely whipped.

Summary: looks can kill....but even without them she [rules]!
Review: This is one of Sandra Bullocks greatest roles, one of my all time favorites because i can relate to her playing this role as a tough girl but with quite a big heart she's never really had any friends as from when she was little she stuck up for the guys and it all got blowen back in her face so she's never really had anyone to relate to apart from herself, while doing one of her pet hates of being part of an under cover operation as a beauty pagent contestant from New jersy because she screwed up an F.B.I operation big time and got one of the agents shot she realises that not only does she have a figure but she also realises that the girls in the pagent aren't just 'air head bimbos'but are great friends. but as she gets more involved with the pagent she gets more than she bargains for and a little surprise at the end ! she really does want world peace. funny quirky and all round great but heartwarming at the same time.

Summary: Turn off your brain and have a good time
Review: So, nuke some popcorn, get your feet off the ground, lean back, and have some fun. But leave your brain behind. This is one of those movies that the more you think about it, the less you will enjoy it. But if you cut it a lot of slack and don't worry about the gaps, it will be fun.

I mean, how seriously can you take a film where you take an FBI agent and insert her into a beauty pageant, especially one where they replace Miss New Jersey with someone who never participated in the Miss New Jersey pageant? Wouldn't the first runner up complain? Not to mention second runner up, and third runner up, and so forth. Start asking question like this and the film starts falling apart.

The miracle of this film is that it is a lot of fun despite a lot of bad things you can say about it. For instance, Sandra Bullock somehow manages to be adorable despite many horrible moments of acting. Much, much too much of her performance consists of acting that is way, way too broad and borderline slapstick. Anyone doubting me should rewatch the film. Note the snorting when she laughs. Or the way she overacts in watching tapes of previous beauty pageants when on the private plane that is carrying her to her makeover. Some actors and actresses have personalities that manage to shine even when doing a poor job, and that is true of Sandra in this one. Subjectively, she is adorable and loveable, but objectively, she does a really bad job in this one. And what a waste of talent having Michael Caine as a beauty pageant consultant! He is incapable of doing a bad job, but it is hard to believe that this was the best script that was laid before him at this particular moment in his career. Anyone who has seen his recent and stunning Oscar-nominated performance in THE QUIET AMERICAN will doubt that he remains one of the most gifted and professional actors in the world. But what is he doing in this film?

Anyone wanting to dislike this film will. Anyone willing to cut it a few miles of slack will enjoy it. That may sound paradoxical, but it is also true. My advice is to pop that popcorn, ignore the absurdities, politely refuse to acknowledge Sandra Bullock's snorting, and have some fun.

Summary: Classic Sandra Bullock movie
Review: In my opinion, Sandra Bullock's main talents lay in her comic abilities. She can be more or less OK in more 'serious' movies, such as '28 Days', but she only truly shines in comedies.

Don't expect a sophisticated comedy. The story line can often be illogical, and the laughs are often very obvious and not that inteligent. But if you're willing to accept all that - you're in for a laugh!

Sandra Bullock is now a frumpy, unfeminine FBI agent with a big mouth and an even bigger problem following orders, who againts all odds gets selected for the most unlikely undercover job: being acontestant in the Miss USA beauty pageant. Even though she doesn't fit in immediatelly, eventually she realizes she has a lot to learn and gain from the experience, even if its a better posture from walking on high heels...

Summary: Beauty Queen With Bullets
Review: Tough talking FBI Agent Gracie Hart, (Sandra Bullock) goes undercover as a contestant in the Miss United States pagent, in order to foil a plot that threatens the lives of those involved Grace is not exactly refined. Manners expert Victor Melling (Michael Caine) is called upon to transform her into a believable canidate to win. Meanwhile, her partner Eric Matthews (Benjamin Bratt), has to stick close by to make sure she stays out of trouble.

Miss Congeniality could have been a complete disaster. Instead, thanks to Bullock's abillity to be able to laugh at herself, and thus not take herself too seriously, the film works. The script is filled with almost every fish out of water convention you can think of, and yet Bullock pulls it off. Michael Caine is also very funny as Melling, as are William Shatner and Candice Bergen, as the pagent host Stan Fields and coordinator Cathy Morningside. While not as laugh filled as my neice would like to say it is, there's enough here to enjoy, even if the "mystery" of the plot isn't all that tough to figure out. Director Donald Petrie keeps everthing resting on Bullock, and as I said earlier, she's ultimately the reason to stay tuned

The DVD has 2 featurettes on the making of the movie. Each of which, also contains 3 deleted scenes between them. All I can say is that the cuts were chosen wisely by Petrie. There are 2 audio commentaries on the disc. The first with Bullock and Co-Writer Marc Lawrence, is ok It offers less of a perspective on the film per se`and is more about two friends joking with each other. The second track with Petrie offers more on how the film came together. Notes on the cast and crew and the theatrical trailer top off the extas

Miss Congeniality is a better than expected comedy, I would recommend it, especially if you are a Sandra Bullock fan
