Summary: Sandra Shines
Review: "Dirty Harry" meets "My Fair Lady" in this delightfully light hearted (yet oh so predictable) romp about a decidedly unfeminine FBI agent who is compelled to go undercover as a competitor at the Miss USA pageant after the event is targeted by a bomber.

Gracie Hart, a nerdy, messy, "just one of the boys" woman is forced to get in touch with her feminine side when she is transformed into the unfortunately named Miss New Jersey contender Gracie Lou Freebush, whose favourite hobbies include ice skating and the utterly girlie water ballet! Her character provides a undeniable proof that a silk purse can defintely be made from a sow's ear. For while Gracie Lou clumsily swimsuits, shimmies, and stilettoes her way toward the glittering grand finale, she and we learn several salient lessons about the stupidity of judging a book by its cover.

The unremarkable supporting cast is given an indelible boost by the comedic presence of William Shatner and Michael Caine, who play a network pageant co-host and a dried up pageant consultant. Shatner is totally hilarious amid the chaos of the pageant's grand finale scenes, and Caine's rapier sharp sarcastic wit and humour is a welcome ingredient in the movie's recipe. However, the lovely, effervescent Sandra Bullock proves yet again to her fans that she is one of those rare actresses whose work can be enjoyed by a greater cross-section of the community. Not only that, but she has "it"- that indefinable something that evey performer should possess, but is sadly lacking in Hollywood nowadays. However, even if she wasn't in showbusiness, Ms Bullock would still be somebody that other people would notice and remember.

Can "Miss Congeniality" be described as fluff? It can, but then again, isn't it the sort of fluff that you WOULDN'T brush off your clothing?

Summary: ...AND THE RUNNER UP IS...
Review: This is a moderately entertaining, if forgettable, comedy. It showcases Ms. Bullock's comedic talents, if nothing else. The premise of the film revolves around the need for an FBI agent to go undercover as a contestant during a beauty pageant, due to intelligence reports that indicate that the pageant may be subject to a terrorist attack. Before she knows it, FBI agent Gracie Hart, a tomboyish, klutzy, and nerdy female, who snorts when she laughs, is assigned to the job. A beauty pageant coach, deliciously played by Michael Caine, is assigned to turn our erstwhile beast into a beauty. He succeeds admirably, as he has a lot with which to work.

Ms. Bullock plays her role with somewhat ham handed determination. Still, she manages to charm. Her supporting cast, which includes Benjamin Bratt, as her fellow agent and potential love interest, and Candace Bergen and William Shatner, as the pageant hosts, act as comedic foils. The pageant contestants also provide a number of light hearted screen moments. This is a comedy that is easy enough to enjoy, though predictable, as long as one's expectations are not inordinately high.

Review: Bullock was great and Michael Caine was super as a supporting actor. Laughed a lot and thoroughly enjoyed this movie.

Summary: A Fun Romp - Lighthearted and Clever
Review: Slapstick and Fun, Sandra Bullock takes us on a fun romp between the land of beauty pageants and law enforcement. The movie alternatively bashes the beauty contestants as well as the "work in lieu of a life career type" - an absolutely fun, family sort of entertainment that should only be approached by someone wanting a fun and lighthearted escape.

Summary: Sandra at her Best
Review: Sandra Bullock is hilarious in this movie. She occasionally over-acts, but she's so cool about it that you don't mind. I think her acting was better in "28 Days", but her fans will not be disappointed here. Candice Bergen is lovely as the villianess, and Michael Cain provides a master's touch appropriately. The plot is predictable but still funny. Overall, great entertainment! Enjoy...

Summary: Only Sandra could have done it!
Review: We have had a lot of suspense/thriller films in the past & it is a breather to have a funny (slapstick as it may be) version of the FBI & its latest case. The plot is shallow, I agree, & there's really nothing to ponder about. But I have to give Sandra a thumbs up sign for this. I cannot think of another female "star" who could have carried the movie lightly but successfully.

Summary: Excellant!
Review: Miss Congenieality is my favorite movie ever. I like because for once a girl is the hero. Also the bad guy is a girl which makes it even greater. This film is action packed and I would really recomend it!

Summary: Very funny
Review: When I rented this movie I thought it was gonna be really bad but the whole movie was great and really hilarious. Sandra Bullock was perfect for the part. The ending was good and the acting was great.

Summary: Surprisingly bad
Review: I love My Fair Lady type shows and thought the premise and cast of this sounded great. But I barely made it through the end of this movie. Only a few of the jokes were actually funny. Bullock's love interest only had a few moments when he wasn't being a jerk, and there was no reason to understand why she was attracted to him. Her turnaround in attitude about pageants, as expressed in the stage interview scene, must have been explained in the outtakes some of the other reviews mentioned -- 'cause in the movie it comes completely out of the blue. Worst of all, the whole theme of the movie is that the pageant contestants are fine the way _they_ are, but Hart can't be a complete woman and no one will like her until she douses herself in cosmetics. Granted her manners needed improving, but beyond that -- the message in this movie was amazingly heavy-handed, and NOT one I want to hear.

Summary: Warning: Hilarious! Laugh a Minute! Watch with Caution!
Review: "Miss Congeniality", starring Sandra Bullock, is a movie that the world will be talking about for years to come. Sandra stars as Gracie Hart, an FBI agent who cares about her looks as much as Dennis the Menace did about being nice. A tomboy to the bone, Gracie specializes in slang language, pizza, beer, and her right hook. But when a citizen threatens the "Miss United States Pageant", Gracie must turn in her handcuffs for a diamond bracelet when the FBI sends her under cover as New Jersey's hopeful. Now Gracie Lou Freebush, as she is now known, must learn to walk, talk, speak, and act like a Barbie doll. And it isn't about just finding the citizen, Gracie's washed-up pageant "coach", played by Michael Caine, wants her to "think crown." Does Gracie have the poise and posture to surivive a world of two-piece swimsuits, celery, and world peace? Or will she trip in her new high heels and let the citizen turn this pageant into a bonfire? Rent "Miss Congeniality" today and see for yourself.
