Rating: Summary: BEST TEEN FLICK EVER Review: I am not a John Hughes fan, but this disarming movie takes the "teen" out of teen flick. The characters are so keenly drawn, and the poignant, potent romantic entanglements so utterly winning, that this movie is hard to resist. Mary Stuart Masterson is simply heartbreaking in this movie, and unaffecedly so; Eric Stoltz has never been more appealing, or attractive. The details follow suit -- from Keith's realistic family to the Barbie-like world of the "pretty kids". This simple movie earns its well-deserved emotional lift, and remains with you.
Rating: Summary: Underrated teen film Review: In the wake of all of the hype surrounding the "Brat Pack" movies of the 1980's, this bittersweet teen flick gets lost in the fold. True, it is a "John Hughes" film, but it doesn't contain any of those annoying teens who appear and re-appear in so many of the same movies. The best part of this is the young Eric Stoltz. His portrayal of the somewhat shy and very sensitive Keith just makes my heart melt. (Where, oh where, can I find a man like that?) Also, I have to mention the very hilarious Elias Koteas as Keith's skinhead friend. That was definitely a strange role to see him in! Very good film, worth seeing over and over again.
Rating: Summary: A Great movie! Review: This movie seemed to have your usual cliched characters, but these characters actually had depth to them. It was a great movie, and that song that kept playing throughtout the movie"Turn To The Sky", was great. One of Hughes' best.
Rating: Summary: Awesome. How can you go wrong with John Hughes? Review: Classic 80's teen angst romantic comedy. My favorite types of movies. The soundtrack kicks all ass, and it sure is refreshing seeing a regular Joe such as Keith (Eric Stoltz) put a snob like Hardee Jenns in his place. This movie's got it all: romance, humor (damn awesome writing and dialogue between Watts and Keith), and above all, HEART. It's great. I own it, and you should, too. -Skip Frederiksen
Rating: Summary: Round and Round They Go.... Review: The highlight of this movie is hearing the underrated classic "Miss Amanda Jones". Watts, the drummer, is great as the sensitive tomboy. The 1 reason this film DOESN'T get 5 stars is because the classic song "Some Kind of Wonderful" isn't featured in it, to my knowledge. Heck, the movie Can't Buy Me Love isn't about the Beatles, but at least the song is included. Come on, guys!
Rating: Summary: IT IS ONE OF THE BEST!!!!! Review: i ABSOULUTLY LOVED SOME KIND OF WONDERFUL SINCE THE FIRST TIME I SAW IT! THE CHARACTERS ARE THE BOMB AND WEREN'T FAKE. THE CASTER DID A GREAT JOB HIRING SOME OF THE BEST! IT'S GREAT!!!!
Rating: Summary: One of my all-time favorites Review: Masterson was excellent in this. I think Watts epitomizes what men really want from women - loyalty. I have to admit I fell in love with Watts. She's true even when she's treated lousy and she's right, Stoltz's character was thick as a brick.
Rating: Summary: absolutely cool Review: I think the script of this film is very straight forward. However, Mary played very good. Watts was the type of gal I adore. After watching this movie, I knew what I really wanna be. I wanna be as cool as her! Or simply like her! She was very generous as well. She could even fix a date for Keith. And the ending was very happy, too. Guess what. I watched this film in 1999. But I don't think it is old-fashioned. Olddies is goodies!
Rating: Summary: Wondeful. Nuff said. Review: This movie was a classic. Granted, I was all of eleven when it came out, and I was 12 when I saw it (too young to see it in the theater). All i remember is that for any kid that was strivingt to be in the in crowd (hey, who didn't?) This movie is your story, where you get the happy ending. Hey, sometimes, even I was able to enlist the help of a class bully to help me out. And what about that classic eighties music? Especially at the end of the movie!
Rating: Summary: Genuine teen angst, Masterson is great !!! Review: I grew up in the L.A. area in the 1970's. I had an obnoxious sister, a " greaser " good friend, and a beautiful good " buddy " I didn't realize was there. Believe me, this film tells it like it was for some of us. If my " buddy " looked like Mary Stuart Masterson, there would be a Mrs. in front of my Mr. on our Christmas cards. John Hughes was paying attention.
