Summary: When those neighbors are on the loose... get ready to laugh
Review: Get ready to laugh, because that is exactly what I think director Joe Dante(Explorers, Innerspace, Gremlins, Toy Soldiers...) did that movie for. Everything starts out by the disappearance of an old couple in the neighborhood, and the arrival of new people in that house. No one saw the old ones leave, no one saw the new ones moving in, all they got to know was that, they were already there. So Tom Hanks and friends decided to spy-out these newcomers in very funny ways. Once again the miraculous soundtrack of this film is composed by musical wizard composer Jerry Goldsmith and I really recommend it to everyone who can enjoy good movie soundtracks.

Summary: A plotless and trite comedy
Review: The run-off the mill Haunted House and the nabours investigate plot (or lack of it) is long and lifeless. Hanks manages to save face and the acting of the "Doctor" is rather amusing but the rather pitiful acting of the other cast show how much a waste of time it it. A fine film to watch on TV, but save the money and DON'T buy it.

Summary: Very Good DVD
Review: This is a good movie and great DVD. First of all, I have always liked this movie. The surprise was that my wife - who had never seen it before - got into it also. It is a funny movie, and women like Tom Hanks... The DVD presentation is also good - Anamorphic screen + surround sound. You get the trailer and the main bonus: the Alternative Ending. Now the Alternative Ending SUCKS compared to the Real Ending, but seeing the alternative ending makes you see how much better the real one was. DVD producers should always throw of this kind of stuff onto their DVDs. Even if they are not sure if it adds to the movie. Since they are on the inside, they view things like editing and reshooting as boring - to those of us on the outside it makes the movie more interesting and it makes us appreciate the finished product more. Hollywood hides the movie making process from us because they think that it takes away some of the "magic" of the movie. However, seeing the behind-the-scenes stuff actually makes us enjoy the movie more. Okay, off of that soapbox... This is a good movie, but it did not get 5 stars because it is not as good as Apollo 13 or Glory - we really need a 10-star system here. Burbs would get 9 stars... Jeremy

Summary: The Burbs is the Best!
Review: The Burbs is my favorite movie of all time. No other movie could keep me laughing this long. I watch it atleast twice a year and I never tire of it. There are so many notable lines in this movie. So many good actors. Its just unbelievable. If you own any movies this should be one of them.
