Summary: Refreshing concept, but could be better
Review: I just finished watching Sliding Doors and have my opinion fresh in my mind. The "what if" concept is very intriguing and Gwyneth Paltrow could pass for a Brit any day of the week. I did not like John Lynch's anemic and scheming character at all and the fact that the sweet Helen was with him made her lose something. Perhaps the casting was bad, but they seemed so mismatched. In my opinion, John Hannah was the shining light in the film, almost outshining Gwyneth Paltrow. It was nice to see him hold his own as a leading man outside of the "Four Weddings and a Funeral" gang. I would recommend this film for a quirky, fun movie experience, but once you've seen it, you won't need to see it again because there will be no more surprises. But treat yourself and enjoy it once.

Review: OK, here's the kicker: I don't like films like this. My type of film is 'Halloween', 'Aliens' or any James Bond film - So when my wife came home with this I thought, "Oh boy...Another 'City of Angels' type of flick." What a surprize I got when I first started watching it! I was hooked within 5 minutes ! This is truely a film that has something for everyone : Fantasy, comedy, romance. Miss Paltrow is SUPERB, along with the rest of the cast. The writing is wonderful and the story of a "What If........" is captivating ! Everyone must spread the word about this film, because it never got the proper credit it deserves. If you liked 'City of Angels' (which I despised), you will fall in love with 'Sliding Doors'. A GEM of a film.

Review: This film is one of the best that I have ever seen. The plot is interesting and light-hearted, the cast wonderful, the script a delight! How many of us have asked ourselves, What if this had happened differently? This movie is romantic and sad, cheering and angering. You will find yourself rooting for one character, while plotting against the other. Wonderful for a rainy day, a night with your loved ones, or any other time you see fit!!

Review: Gwyneth Paltrow was, as usual, absolutely lovely in this English 'what if?' romance. We have all at one time or another wondered how our lives would be different if only...we had gone to college right after high school, taken that job offer hundreds of miles away from home that you were offered last year, or maybe not have gotten pregnant so early. It is easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of infinite possibilites that come with asking such questions; and this movie shows just that. How will her life be different as a result of being on time for or just too late for the train home. With an extraordinarily talented cast and the hip setting, you will fall in love with the main character, played by Gwyneth Paltrow. What this movie suggests, is that when it comes to love, destiny is destiny and despite the differnt tracks your life can take along the journey the destination will be the same.

Summary: The most fantastic Britsh film ever!
Review: Forget Four Weddings and a Funeral, this film is the best thing to come out of Britain since soccer. The plot is an original work that has no equal. It is a love story and a tragedy in one. The acting is wonderful. I have never been a Gwenth Paltrow fan but she did an amazing job and she even had a good English accent, and as an English person living in America, I can tell. John Hannah, also of Four Weddings and a Funeral fame, does for Scots men what no other man could do. He seems so at ease with his character that you believe that it is his real life. I cannot express how good this film really is and I can't remember how manby times I have watched it. If you only buy one film in your entire life, this is it.

Review: I was very impressed with Gwyneth Paltrow and the cast. It is a movie I could pop into the VCR and view repeatedly. Great wardrobe and hairstyle on Paltrow! The only minor bother was the cheating boyfriend's(Lynch) incessant, nervous breathing(I caught this on the second viewing). I began to gasp for air when he was in a scene and it made me tense. This detail shouldn't keep one from watching an otherwise entertaining film. Clever lines and John Hannah's character is a cutie in this film.

Review: I liked this movie very much until it got to the end. The ending was too dramatic for a light romantic comedy. The acting was fine, and the characters were somewhat believable. I liked 99% of the movie, but the last 1% made it unsatisfying. Don't rent this if you think its just a fun, joyful, romantic flick.
