Rating: Summary: One of John Candy's best! Review: This video is absolutely hilarious. When I'm having a bad day, this is one of the movies I watch to get me laughing. This movie is cast so well. The only parts I could have done without are the goofy teeny-bopper french kissing scenes between Chris Young (playing Candy's son) and Lucy Deaking (playing a local yocal). If you'll just fast forward through those parts, this movie will keep you laughing from start to finish!
Rating: Summary: A Perennial Favorite Review: We watch this movie at least once per summer while at the lake in Wisconsin. There's nothing like it to make the entire family crack up laughing with nearly every scene. This movie is as much a part of our family summer vacation as the stay in the Northwoods alone. You can't go wrong with this classic movie, The Great Outdoors.
Rating: Summary: Wake me when it's over Review: When I saw this movie I thought it's a shame Dan Aykroyd and John Candy wasted their skill on a dumb movie like this. I don't like it because the writer just slopped together junk and the producer acccepted it instead of saying, " sorry, pal people won't like this, you should rewrite it and use better humor". But no, he just accepted it not realizing he'd be partly known for a dumb movie like this. My point is you shouldn't waste time watching it. If you like Candy see Planes, Trains, & Automobiles.
Rating: Summary: I enjoyed this a lot! Review: While this movie is typical 80s slaptstick with a bit teenage romance, it is a wholesome movie and funny at that. The plot definetely contrasts the family man (played by John Candy)vs. the 80s YUPPIE (Akroyd). Underneath all the nonsense, luckily the message of this movie is that family is more important. I recommend this to anyone.
