Review: Pee-wee's Big Adventure is one of the greatest movies I've ever seen,( and believe me, I've seen a lot of movies in my life. ) It has comedy for all ages. You can't beat this movie. Paul Ruebens is a genius! It all starts out with Pee-wee Herman, a grown man with a child sense of humor, taking a day out on his deluxe, red, super-duper bicycle. But while he's away at Chuck's Bike-O-Rama talking to his girl-friend,( she's a girl, and she's a friend,) his bike gets hoisted from the Houdini-type lock-up! After that, Pee-wee meets crooks, bikers, phantom truck drivers, and truck stop waitresses on his treck to find his bicycle. His trip takes him to Warner Brother's Studios, where he meets up with a brat child star! You'll love the ending, but I'm not going to spoil it for you ! In this DVD you will get to hear commentary from the star, Paul Reubens, the Director, Tim Burton, and the movie's Musical Composer, Danny Elfman. You also get to hear Danny's tremendous musical score without the soundtrack of the movie. You also get the original theatrical trailor that starts with the Most famous movie song ever - Tequila! You will love this movie with all of your heart. Great comedy, music, and just silly acting will leave you howling as you watch this movie with your family! It might have been Tim Burton's directorial debut, but he did it right! Check this movie out if you love great comedy, great music, and great photography in movies. I have to end this review with saying, This is the greatest movie of all time!

Summary: Look out, mr. potato-head!
Review: I had no idea who Tim Burton was when I first saw this amazing movie back in '85, but I've been following his career since. And jaded as I was, when Large Marge sprouted that twisted, burning wreck of a face at me, I JUMPED, no lie. It takes talent to scare viewers like that. (Imagine what Burton would've done with GODZILLA, instead of those derivitive hacks) I'm not ashamed to admit that I've seen this gem countless times. Any of you future parents will want to get the DVD version so you can introduce your kids to this bizarre mix of fairy tale, horror, and dark comedy. They'll thank you for it, because Pee Wee is just the right antidote for all that hip-hop macho posturing out there in the streets and in the schools. Danny Elfman's score is incredibly hard to forget, and so is Francis Buxton, and even Amazing Larry! One of the best movies ever to be released in the 80s. (Despite the lag near the ending). I pity the fool that don't buy this video!

Review: This fantastic film Pee Wee's Big Adventure can be enjoyed by all ages. The directorial debut of one of the most influential directors in Hollywood: Tim Burton and an excellent tour de force performance by Paul Reubens as Pee Wee. This wacky adventure begins with Pee Wee's discovery that his beloved bicycle has been stolen. After receiving phony info from an even phonier(phonier? not a word, but it works!) fortune teller, he sets off in search of his bike, which is supposedly in the basement of the Alamo. Off he goes on one of the funniest adventures ever captured on screen. Paul Reubens is brilliant as Pee Wee Herman. Elizabeth Daily makes a wonderful Dotty, Pee Wee's would-be love interest. Mark Holton is great as Francis, as well as Diane Salinger as the wanna-be French waitress Simone. Judd Omen makes a great escaped-con Mickey, who is the first to help Pee Wee out on his journey. Also good are the small cameos by such stars as Ed Herlihy, Cassandra Peterson(TV's Elvira), Alice Nunn, Toru Tanaka, Carmen Filpi, James Brolin, Morgan Fairchild, Milton Berle, and the best cameo of all, SNL's Jan Hooks. Beautifully directed by Tim Burton, this movie was also written by Reubens and the late Phil Hartman, who, if you look closely, makes a small appearance in the final scene as a reporter. Definitely a must-see.

Review: I've seen this movie in the theaters along time ago when I was four. Now that I am twenty years old I don't like this movie that much as I use to. I guess when your a little kid you like this kind of movie but when you get older you start to hate it. My parents do not like Pee-wee Herman but I do. I think he's a good comic actor that made little kids laugh and brought them joy. I use to watch this movie all the time when I was a kid. I think it's still a good movie even though if I am tired of it. I mean heck Phil Hartman wrote the script right and Tim Burton directed it. The director who did Batman and The Nightmare Before Christmas. Those were good movies too. So if you are a parent and have kids I think you should let your kids watch this movie because they would like it. It's a great family film to watch. Rent it or buy it!

Review: For sheer inspired goofiness, one would be hard-pressed to find better than "Pee Wee's Big Adventure." Paul Reubens (a/k/a Pee Wee Herman) throws himself into his signature role with complete abandon, and, fueled by Tim Burton's cartoony direction and Danny Elfman's mischievious score, the movie just mows you down like Pee Wee on his beloved bike during the Tour de France! It's still as funny today as it was 16 years ago, and a great one to show to a mixed group, not to mention an excellent blues banisher. If you can listen to "Tequila" or see a picture of the Alamo and not laugh, you obviously have never seen this movie!

Review: Again, this could be a five-star movie, depending on your point of view. The whole movie is a comic masterpiece, using every kind of humor it can, from slapstick to social to just plain looney. Tim Burton's first film really captures his vision of surrealness. Paul Reubens gives a touching performance as Pee Wee. Aside from a couple scary moments, this is great for the wee kids and massive adults, too (and teenagers going through insecure rebelious feelings, like me). The only people who won't like this are those who need to lighten up. It's magical.

Summary: Burton at his best!
Review: Pee-Wee's Big Adventure is sort of like the Holy Grail to Tim Burton fans. Released on July 19th 1985, mabye more like a set of commandments, handed down from the man himself. All historical value aside, I really love this moive. We follow the boy stuck in a man's body (Rubens) through what seems like an ordinary day (which is out of the ordinary in itself), until his beloved bike is stolen! Filled with revenge, Pee-Wee goes on a cross-country search for his missing bike, befriending with his endearing innocent charm an escaped convict, a biker gang, and falling in love with the local bike shop owner, Dottie. The camera angles and scenery, the sometimes philosophic (in a sarcastic undertone) dialogue all reek of Burton-ness. This is a movie that isn't afraid to mock itself. It's refreshing, quirky, and hey... it's Burton!

Summary: One of the Funniest Movies Ever Made
Review: When this movie came out in 1985, I was only 4 years old. I am now 19, and have been watching this movie ever since. I always thought that it was hilarious, but there were many jokes that went over my head as a kid. I now watch it with a new appreciation. My family and I frequently quote some of the funniest lines in the movie. One of my favorites was when Pee Wee was holding the meeting in his basement. He said, "It's like you're trying to unravel a big cable-knit sweater, and someone keeps knitting..and knitting..and knitting.." Another good one was when Pee Wee and Simone were watching the sunrise in the dinosaur. Simone said, "Pee Wee, do you have any dreams?" Pee Wee responded, "Yeah. I'm rolling in a big doughnut and a snake's wearing a vest." I couldn't possibly quote all of the funny moments and lines in this movie, there are simply too many to count. Watch for the bar scene bewteen Pee Wee and the Satan's Helpers. For those of you who are paying attention, yes, that is Elvira in that scene. Also, watch for the band Twisted Sister near the end of the movie. ~Kristy~

Summary: Much funnier than I remember...
Review: Remember how much this movie rocks?? I sure didn't, but now I can't stop watching it. This is definitely a classic to keep for years to come. This movie has elements of nearly all genres, and every scene is perfect. At times very dark, and at times incredibly funny, Tim Burton made a nearly flawless movie. In addition to the movie, the dvd also contains a director's commentary with tim burton and paul reubens, as well as some deleted scenes that explain a few holes in the movie, such as the "boomerang bowtie" and "amazing larry." It comes in widescreen format, and it's absolutely great. highly recommended.
