Summary: One of the Top 10 Screwball Comedies of the 90s
Review: "My Cousin Vinny", along with "Bowfinger", "The Man Who Knew Too Little", are among the funniest screwball comedies of the 90s. Cross my heart, "My Cousin Vinny" will make you laugh hard and fast even on numerous and repeated viewing!!!! The movie also showcased how under-rated Marisa Tomei is as an actress. She was so good and natural in this early (comedic) film role, making her award for "Best Supporting Actress" nothing but well deserved. She lighted up "My Cousin Vinny", as did her endearing portrayal in "As Good As It Gets", "Untamed Heart", to name just a few.

Review: This is my favorite comedy movie of all time. Joe Pesci and Marisa Tomei are hilarious. You will laugh from begining to end.
The only reason why I don't give this DVD a 5 star is becaues of the movie previews. Cmon if I buy a dvd I want to go directly to the movie and features not to see a bunch of movie previews that I don't care about.

Synopsis
Two youths ('yoots') get framed for murder, so they call on their cousin, who is a very inexperienced lawyer (Pesci). When he arrives, with his girlfriend (Tomei), he starts a hilarious and ridiculous case to defend them.
My Review
Fun little comedy with Marisa Tomei stealing the show in her Oscar winning role. Starts out with some great laughs, gets a little slow in the middle, but entertaining nonetheless.

Review: Probably one of the funniest movies I've seen in at least the past twenty years is "My Cousin Vinny," starring Joe Pesci, Marisa Tomei, Fred Gwynne, Ralph Macchio, and Mitchell Whitfield.
"My Cousin Vinny" tells the story of how a coupla easy-goin' college kids on their way from "Big Apple," where they live, to California, where they go to school, run afoul of the law in Alabama. Somehow, Bill Gambini and Stan Rothenstein manage to get themselves charged with a murder they didn't commit. Two New York City kids, alone and broke in a small-town jail, charged with murder... And no lawyer in sight. What to do? Call home, of course! The solution to their problem of not having a lawyer? Naturally - enlist the help of the lawyer in the family,!
Enter Bill's cousin, Vinny Gambini (played by Joe Pesci), A sawed-off, wise-crackin,' street-wise, runt of a man with one of doze "tick Brawnx accents" and an ego that far exceeds his diminutive stature. His mission: to defend the two "yewts" (youths) against charges of murder. Accompanying Vinny is his beautiful fiancee, Mona Lisa (Lisa) Vito (Marisa Tomei), an unemployed beautician with an encyclopedic knowledge of automobiles and auto mechanics. It looks like the day is saved for Stan and Bill. Only... they have a BI-I-G problem on their hands: Vinny's only been a lawyer for six weeks. That's after trying - and failing - to pass his bar exams for <i>six years!!</i> And, he's never... <i>ever...</i> tried a case in a real live courtroom. I won't give away any more of the plot. You'll just have to watch "My Cousin Vinny" to see how Vinny Gambini stumbles and fumbles and bumbles his way through the most important case of his new-found legal career, all the while contending with characters like the austere Judge Chamberlain Haller, a man with a grim countenance and a sense of humor to match; Jim Trotter III, the local District Attorney, a smooth-talking, highly experienced, and very competent prosecutor; Public Defender John Gibbons, a second-rate lawyer who can barely spit words out of his mouth, much less complete sentences; and a host of the town's local citizens - some of them witnesses, others just a pain in the neck, but all of them busily engaged in a constant clash of cultures with Vinny, Lisa, Bill, and Stan. Excellent performances abound in "My Cousin Vinny." Joe Pesci attacks his role as Vinny with gusto, imbuing his character with tons of bluster and baloney. Marisa Tomei comes darn close to stealing the entire show with her performance as Mona Lisa Vito. In fact, she's so good that she won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for this role. In one of his last roles before his death in 1993, Fred Gwynne is excellent as the no-nonsense Judge Chamberlain Haller. A stickler for the rules of proper courtroom etiquette, this formidably featured magistrate finds it his duty to get the hapless Vinny Gambini to shape up... or pay the consequences. Screen Writer Dale Launer never misses an opportunity to poke fun at many of our American foibles. Of course, the legal profession takes the brunt of Launer's sharp-witted pen. Ambulance chasing, incompetence, and an overly legalistic approach to the law are but a few of the legal profession's faults lampooned in this film. "My Cousin Vinny" brilliantly parodies our cultural differences as well. It draws sharp - and hilarious - contrast between the bucolic and the urban; and the provincial and the urbane. The movie also does an excellent job of pointing out, in a humorous way, our tendency to stereotype people and cultures not our own. All this makes for a side-splitting two hours of cinematic entertainment!

Review: Every time I see this movie, I laugh until my sides hurt. I was disappointed that the DVD didn't have more "bonus" material. There are no deleted scenes or outtakes. No interviews or any of the 'fun' things I like to learn about my favorite movies. I did enjoy the director's comments.

Joe Pesci and Fred Gwynne(The Judge)are awesome in this one! My favourite dialogue: Judge: Mr. Gambini?
Vinny: Yes Judge!
Judge: Are you mocking me with that outfit?
Vinny: Mocking you? No Judge I'm not mocking you.
Judge: Then explain that out-fit?
Vinny: I bought a new suit, you've seen it and now its covered in mud. So I had to get a new suit. And the only place in town where you can a new suit is closed for flu. Yeah, the whole store got the flu! So I had to buy this at a secondhand store. So its either the leather jacket which I know you hate or this! So I wore this, ridiculous thing for you! I bet you can watch this movie over and over again and not get bored at all. Its truly a classic!

Review: "My Cousin Vinny" is one hilarious comedy. I enjoyed Joe Pesci's character (Vinny Gambini) very much. Marisa Tomei (Mona Lisa Vito) complemented Pesci's character to make the movie a delightful viewing experience! The movie is basically about big-city yankees experiencing a culture shock in a stereotypical Alabamian town. Vinny Gambini is engaged to marry Ms. Vito when they travel to the southern town that holds Mr. Gambini's nephew (Ralph Macchio) and his friend in prison awaiting trial as the alleged robbers of a convenient store. Uncle Vinny is the chosen lawyer to represent them in the case. It is his first trial experience and the lack of experience shows throughout the film. Vinny's culture clash with the Southern judge is most comical. Judge Chamberlain Haller (Fred Gwynne, AKA "Hermun Munster") repeatedly admonishes Mr. Gambini for his disrespectful attire and for his difficulty adhering to the state's rules of criminal procedure. This comedy is not to be missed!!

Summary: What IS a grit?
Review: I have to say, that I sat down to watch this movie not knowing in the slightest who Marisa Tomei, Ralph Machhio or Joe Pesci was. I saw it in the movie rental place and said "Ooh! Fred Gwynne" and rented it. I thought it would be a stupid movie, but I am always in search of a good "Munsters" star appearance. I was immediatley drawn in by the characters quirky wit and authenticity to well...real people. When I heard the line "We'll call my cousin Vinny!" I knew trouble would arise. Cut to black leather....EVERYWHERE. Mona and Vinny seem to own nothing but leather. Their thick Brooklyn accents were a hysterical match for the locals southern drawl. The storyline is intriguing and funny. The acting is gracefully done and the ending is very enjoyable. Nothing about this movie that I didn't enjoy. The classic tale of big city people go to small southern town with a wonderful twist.

Review: My Cousin Vinny has got to be one of my most favorite movies I've ever seen in my whole life. The humor is intact, the jokes are hilarious, and it's helped me get a better understanding of the judicial system. Jonathan Lynn did a great job of directing, no scenes that throw my train of thought off, just straightforward and to the point with a smooth followthrough. Starring Joe Pesci, Marisa Tomei, Ralph Machino, and Mitchell Whitfield, the story is about how two New York university graduates, Bill Gambini and Stan Rothenstein (Machino and Whitfield) are wrongfully accused of murdering a store clerk in Alabama, and their only hope of an attorney is Bill's cousin Vinny Gambini (Pesci) from Brooklyn, who just passed his bar exam on the sixth attempt. Vinny and his fiancé Mona Lisa (played by Tomei) end up coming down to the good ol' south for Bill and Stan's case, but because Vinny hasn't had any courtroom experience, he is in over his head with the lack of knowledge of judicial practice and courtroom procedure, money problems, his fiancé, the adjustment of the ways and means of the south, the weight of Bill and Stan's case on his shoulders, and the dealings of a ruthless judge (played by Fred Gwynne of The Munsters), and every situation that Vinny gets into and tries to get out of has me laughing and puts a smile on my face. I used to have this video on VHS and have watched it so many times that the tape wore out and broke apart. There was at one time that I had most, if not, all the lines of the movie memorized. When the time comes that I get a DVD player, My Cousin Vinny is going to be my first DVD that I'll ever buy with it because this movie has so much meaning to me and is my most favorite movie in the whole wide world. So if you like a courtroom comedy or any comedy that is directed towards the North vs. South [...], I strongly recommend getting this movie.

Review: Drivel, garbage, Ralph Machio not being his real age. Sound like another Karate Kid movie? Too bad it wasn't, because at least then there would've been some fighting. Annoying movie, whiney characters. How long does it take you to get the joke that these people are from New York, and are in small, backwards town? The people who made it seem to think it takes the entire film, as that's the only joke that is made. Over, and over, and over again.
