Summary: You Can't Buy Love, But You Can Buy This Movie
Review: Amusing story of a nerdy high school student Ronald Miller (Patrick Dempsey) who discovers that becoming popular isn't the greatest thing in the world. After she accidentally ruins her mother's suede dress with some wine, Cyndi, the most popular girl at school (played wonderfully by Amanda Petersen) will do anything to replace it before her mother gets back from her trip.

Enter Ronald. After seeing her desperate attempt to replace the dress at the mall, Ronald makes a deal with Amanda. He'll use the money that he has earned all summer by mowing lawns to buy a new dress, in return for Amanda's help in turning him to Mr. popularity.

Along the way, Ronnie learns lessons about the true value of having real friends, and towards the end of the movie Ronald discovers that he is still himself.

This film, which is no longer produced by Touchstone Video (a division of the Disney Corporation) features many couple of stars before they hit it big. Gerardo, the Latin-singing star who scored a one-hit wonder with "Rico Suave," plays one of the football jocks in the film. However, the real scene-stealer in this film is Seth Green ("Austin Powers"; "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" "Can't Hardly Wait") who plays Ronald's annoying, yet hysterical little brother, Chuckie. By taking a look at Seth in this past role you can understand why he is such a big star today. He is always a trip when it comes to comedic performances.

I loved this film for many reasons, but I think the most memorable scene in this film probably has to be Ronald learning an African dance he saw on television (he thought he was watching "American Bandstand"). After learning it, Ronald performs it at the big dance, not knowing that it would become a huge hit.

This film ranks among the 10 best teenage comedies produced in the 1980's. Let's only hope that it will be re-released on video and DVD in the near future.

Summary: One Of The Greatest Film Ever Made!!
Review: Ever since I saw this film on the Family Channel on Christmas 1998, I have loved it ever since! I'll never forget flipping through the channels before lunch and stopping at this movie. As I watched more and more of it, I saw how good and entertaining it was!

Ronald Miller (Patrick Dempsey) is not really popular at his high school. He is more of a "Brainer" (In other words, a "Nerd") Ronald has a crush on the very popular Cindi Mancini (Amanda Peterson) When Cindi wrecks her mother's outfit without telling her and needs $1000 to buy another one, it's Ronald to the rescue but for a price - Cindi must date Ronald for one month to make him popular.

During that "Dreadful" 31 days, Cindi and Ronald grow closer to each other and struck up a friendship pretty fast, but when Ronald realizes that he is already the most popular guy in school and doesn't need her anymore, he throws her in the dust, but it's not untill Cindi gets back at him that he realizes how important friendship really is!

I am hoping that they will re-release this film back onto video soon! It is a really great film and I think everyone deserves to have a copy of it! Rated PG-13 for some profanity, but it is a great family movie! 2 thumbs up for sure!

Summary: A feel good movie of the 80's!
Review: I own this movie on video and I've seen it a million times. It's one of my favorite movies. Patrick Dempsey did a fantastic job in his work. The only thing that I am waiting for is the DVD version. If they release it on DVD I hope they include extra features that's my favorite thing about DVD and it better not be in widescreen. I hate that. Well, if you hadn't seen this movie yet it's a classic. It's worth renting or buying. You will like it!

Summary: IT'S A MUST SEE AND HAVE MOVIE!
Review: It's a must see and have movie! It has a great moral lesson for all ages, especially high school kids. It's also a cute movie. I'm disappointed that it's not available for purchase, but if it is I would definitely buy it for myself and my teenage nieces!

Summary: A Great Moral Lesson for All Ages
Review: "Can't Buy Me Love" is a great movie because it has a great moral lesson for everybody, especially students of all ages. The main message is people should be treated equally no matter what background they came from. It's too bad this movie is not available for purchase. If it is, it's a must to have and for students to see. I will for sure purchase this movie for myself and my nieces if re-released.

Summary: What a pick-me-up!
Review: When I was in high school (in the late 80's), this movie was part of a weekly ritual. About once a week, my sister and I would rush home from school and pop in our copy of "Can't Buy Me Love" to the video player. We knew every word, and all the dialogue -- even the corny stuff -- resonated with our high school existance. The movie became our cure-all for the symptoms of being a teenager. Rainy outside? Pop in CBML. Being ignored by your crush? Watch CBML. Bad grade on your mid-term? CBML will make it better.

I can't tell you why this movie is better than all the other teen flicks of the 80's ... it just is. Like so many other reviewers here, let me say -- please re-release this video! You have some devoted fans lined up to buy it!

Summary: a great romantic comedy
Review: a great ,story line about the experiences we've all faced. No matter what high school you attended you had a cindi mancini and ronnie. a great candidate for movie of the 80's. The "nerd herd," jocks, and cheerleaders make this a must see realistic film about what takes place in every high school. If you liked Some Kind of wonderful, pretty in pink, breakfast club, and sixteen candles you'll love this flick!
