Summary: Classic hilarious film, terrible DVD presentation.
Review: The film itself remains, 21 years later, one of Martin's best efforts ("the new phone book is here! "), and one of the overall funniest flicks ever, as other reviewers have noted. Why does this DVD stink, then? It's full-screen only...NO WIDESCREEN! This is blatant cheapness, laziness, and disregard on behalf of the DVD company, since many of their other '70s comedy classics ("Slap Shot," "Animal House") have been packaged properly with both full-screen and widescreen options. There's just no excuse. It would've been nicer to see Navin and his "Special Purpose" without the sides of the film cut off.

Summary: Very funny...
Review: One of Steve Martins first and funniest. This is a crazy film and you had to feel sorry for the dumb headed guy. He somehow goes from rockbottom to being rich and famous. A funny film which I recommend.

Summary: Not Steve Martin's best ... by far
Review: I am not sure why this movie has received such high ratings from other reviewers. This movie is well below average for Steve Martin and is, at best, an average B movie. I can see how the movie would appeal to my daughter (age four), but fail to see how an adult might derive any enjoyment from it. Go figure.

Summary: Clumsy and random.
Review: Now we're used to seeing skit-length ideas by current and former SNLers stretched into movies, but this stinker was one of the first. A few scenes are funny, like when Martin starts dancing to elevator music, and when a crazed sniper is forced to stop pursuing Martin because he won't disobey a "Carnival Personnel Only" sign. But the plot seems random and superficial, as if someone had tried to cobble together a movie out of several unrelated skits. Kind of like the "Sgt. Pepper" fiasco Martin appeared in, substituting Beatles lyrics for skits.

Summary: Stupid Humor at it's best!!
Review: This movie is an all time classic comedy. Steve Martin gives a great performance as a moron. The one liners will keep laugh for years to come every time you hear someone say one of them. A must see, and don't settle for the TV version what ever you do.

Summary: Funny as hell!!
Review: I think I've seen this movie at least 50 times and love it everytime I watch it. So many funny lines in it and Steve Martin as Navin Johnson("Navin Johnson, sounds like a typical bastard" (by the stalker)) is hilarious as usual. Those Father of the Bride movies are okay but the Jerk is a riot. You'll laugh throughout the whole movie. I know I did. You'll love his dogs name which probably can't be printed here and the bathtub scene where he is reading a letter written by Bernadette Peters.

Summary: THE NEW PHONE BOOK'S HERE! THE NEW PHONE BOOK'S HERE!!
Review: This has got to be one of the best all time comedies. S teve Martin as Navin R. Johnson is at his best in this film.

Forget him in father of the bride and Roxanne. Steve Martin as THE JERK is the best and worth the price of this tape!

All you need is this tape, and this paddle game and this chair. Thats all you need.

OH and your dog! OK, you don't need your dog!!

Pick out a thermos and this movie!

Summary: A tenth of what I would like to say about this movie.
Review: This movie cracked me up, I found it hard to breathe as I was laughing so hard ,How subtle was it to have so much money and to build a much larger home which was the same as the last one. My wife had inscribed inside my wedding ring which was a replacement for a lost one."Dont trust Whitey".Fans for life.

Summary: He hates these cans!! Stay away from the cans!!
Review: One of the top movies of all time. Steve Martin simply put is the MAN. When it comes to comedy he always make me laugh untill it hurts. This is a movie you can watch over and over.
