Summary: Catch Me If You Can
Review: very very very very good. haven't seen DiCaprio in a good movie since Titanic in 1997.........

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: chase film? domestic commentary? dramatic? fun? YES!
Review: What a fresh and surprising performance by DiCaprio, whom I have never favored before, particularly in the blockbuster "Titanic." Here his character Frank evolves and resonates with fragility, bravado, wit and pathos. Tom Hanks's Carl likewise is no one-dimensional cop, but a fully formed individual whose apparent staleness is deceptive and simultaneously revealing--his work is his life, and yet he expresses care for his duaghter and, ultimately, for Frank.

"Catch Me" entertains on many levels and proves rewatchable--for me a mark of all great films. Other reviewers have commented that the film is not deep and epic and enduring as are some of Spielberg's other works. I respond that Carl and Frank developed a unique and believable relationship whose complexity and universality combine to produce subtle import and audience identification surpassing the shallow feel-good wrap-up lesser films pander to their audiences. The film's true-story aspect played only a minor role for me, as the story was of a boy needing stability and love, and of a man lost to his own family redeeming himself through this particular case.

Oh, and don't invite Carl Hanratty to tell jokes at your next party. "Knock, knock."

Who's there is a compelling story, the truth of which only serves to buttress a well-outfitted period chase film bent on revealing to its audience a pursuit of belonging and identity. Matt Damon in "The Bourne Identity" sought to regain an identity he had lost. Here DiCaprio and Hanks aim to assemble identities and connections they have never had.

This fine film definitely lives a step above the action genre or shallower "buddy" ventures. So (groan) cath it if you can.

Summary: One of the Best Movies of 2002
Review: "Catch Me If You Can" is one of director's Steven Spielberg's
best films. And it is one of the few films where he can't find a way to end it, in a happy way, because it's based on a true story. Leo DiCaprio, in the lead role, proves himself as in actor. And the always wonderful Tom Hanks gives yet another great performance. This film is a real mix of comedy and drama, that will keep you interested. A must have for all movie fans.

Summary: Funny and touching
Review: Catch Me does not have the heaviness of a Schindler's List or Saving Private Ryan, both were, last time I checked, under Steven Spielberg's resume. But here, Speilberg is not out to dazzle us or make us think deeply about our lives; this movie was made to entertain.

Leornado Dicaprio, who has been missing after enormous success in Titanic, finds his key here (unlike Gangs of New York) and gives a fine performance as the sly con artist. The real great performance here was Chris Walken, who plays Dicaprio's father. He is strangely optimistic and takes pride in his son's accomplishments. Tom Hanks is solid as usual, enough said. Spielberg has great mastery of atmosphere and fills the screen with bright and retro colors.

Catch Me is not going to win many Oscars (even though Walken should), but its lightheartedness will win success for this touching film and Dicaprio may regain his status as a major heartthrob.

Summary: Enjoyable, but don't expect too much
Review: In short. This movie is an enjoyable film. It's not quite as entertaining as I though it would be, but the fact that it's enjoyable enough help make the movie, considering that it's quite shallow, and doesn't really go indepth. This movie really is more about surface glimmer, than actual depth.Leonardo DiCaprio was ok, as was Tom Hanks.Christopher Walken, in my opinion gave the best performance as the father of the "real fake" Frank Abagnale jr. I'm not a fan of Steven Spielberg's work in general. And this film was very surface, and seemed to realy rush itself to get to the ending.

Summary: A very enjoyable, solid film
Review: This is not going to be remembered as one of the greatest films in the careers of any of the main folks involved (with the exception of Christopher Walken, who has rarely been better), but it is nonetheless an excellent if unspectacular movie. Leonard DiCaprio is excellent in a complex and well acted role. Tom Hanks is solid as always, although his faux-Boston accent is a tad grating at times. John Williams has produced a score that is more subtle than his usual efforts, and quite effective in setting the mood for the various scenes. And Steven Spielberg does his usual highly professional job of directing. The film fails to be anything especially thrilling, but I can't imagine many people claiming that watching it was a waste of time.

I loved the period feel of the film. Most of the decor felt just right. At no point was it anything less than a joy to behold

The only problem with the film is that in the end, it just isn't very memorable. I loved the performances, I loved the set and art design, I loved the score. But I felt far less moved by the film than I would have anticipated. Still, one could hardly go wrong by taking the time to see this highly polished, professional effort.

Summary: What a film!!
Review: The famous Steven Spielberg, Director, Shows in this film how he can work his magic. This film is a all time best as i like to think. Its where you have to keep looking and thinking at the same time, One blink and you will miss what happened.

Dicaprio and Hanks, A great team. Tom as a police officer and Dicaprio as a notorious robber. Dicaprio changes job to job from air pilot to officer. Starts printing his own money, Makes it impossible to be catched. Tom Hanks had a tough time trying to bring him to justice.

In the end it all worked out for hanks anyway. Dicaprio was sent to jail and because of his intelligence for printing money he knew what money was real and what wasnt. He was released from prison and had to work at the police station to catch out these criminals.

The story line is great and it was a great and unexpected twist at the end, A great film. I would recommend it to anyone.

Summary: Gentle non-threatening entertainment. 3 1/2 stars.
Review: A fun movie, enjoyable, with one curse, no violence, and no nudity. Leonardo DiCaprio puts in a solid endearing performance, Tom Hanks is workable and believable as the agent sent to track down DiCaprio as he scampers around the globe cutting phoney checks. Christopher Walken as DiCaprio's father is fun to watch, as always.

The film is beautiful, has an excellent cool jazz score by John Barry. My favorite part of the flick was the opening credits. I found the film likable, but somehow detached. It's certainly a fun movie to watch but there's not much to it, really.

Summary: An Oscar worthy movie; maybe Spielberg's best (or second bes
Review: Steven Spielberg has never been a master of subtlety. No matter what ham-handed project he strokes into a hit (Little Rascals, E.T., Close Encounters) they alwasy come off as a bash-you-over-the-head sort fo film, where he practically points like a little child, screaming , "Pathos! Pathos right here! Right HERE!"

His nadir (excluding the Rascals) came with the oscar-winning Schindler's List, where he capitalaized on 1) his long standing oscar drought 2) the revival of WWII interest following the 50th anniversary 3) Jewish-American love affair with the past oppression. He positions starving orphans, dying mothers, and evil so blanketly, its hard to find anything that isn't telegraphed poorly as if being struck by lightnihg were subtle.

However, in Catch Me if You Can, which, i feel, will rise with history (much like its counterpart in light hearteded seriousness, Its a Wonderful Life). We have subtley in droves, probably unexpected by Spielberg: Frank's constant disappointment and fear of rejection by women (stemming from his slutty, uncaring--she nevers bothers to look for her missing son- mother); the resulting manipulation of women he engenders in himself; his dual nature as an American yet an immigrants son; his love of yet growing sense of pathetic nature of his father; his attempts to constantly mend his broken home by acting out--even if acting out is committing international crimes and felonies; and Frank and Hanratty's search for missing love, culminating in their final father/son relationship.

Dicaprio and Hanks are two old hats by this point of using their opposing actors as sparring partners as characters, and in this film, the fight a tremendous but friendly bout, rewarding the audience with genuine pathos and interaction. Even the phone calls the charcters share (probably with each other not even in the same room or hearing the other's lines) exudes charcter development, even if stunted.

Spielberg ends the movie, typically, on a happy note, but can;t find his ending for a while, which ultimately drags this film down. But Williams' Score, along with Dicaprio, Hanks, and Christopher Walken as the father( Ithink he plays it well, but not as good as the other two) bring this movie to a level that will surpass most movies actually winning awards this year.

Perhaps only second to Jaws in unmeant yet real subtley and power, Cathc Me If You Can will be a treat for TNT movie watchers and film buffs for years to come.
