Summary: "Hooray" For Scooby Dooby Doo Doo Doo!!!!!
Review: When I first saw the preview of Scooby Doo on TV I was so excited and thought it looked fantastic, then when I finally went to go see it in theatres my thoughts were confirmed. Scooby Doo was a very funny(I was laughing the whole film), enjoyable film for the whole family which mixes the hip of the 70's with alot of updated flare, along with alot of eye candy!!! I thought the actors playing the gang of mysteries inc. were all perfect in there roles (sarah michelle gellar and matthew lillard come to mind)I enjoyed it so much I will definately buy it once it comes on dvd. and one more thing, I want to get it straight that I thought sarah michelle gellar(Daphne) was perfect for the part, she was ditzy, beautiful and into fashion just like the cartoon; and she also added a little BUFFY flavor to the character. And theres nothing I like more than a Daphne that can KICK ...!!!!(which I thought was one of the coolest parts in the film)~***

Review: "Scooby-Doo" is a very fun and entertaining live-action film of the 1970's hit animated TV series, "Scooby-Doo, Where Are You?". Though it's definitely not a ground-breaking masterpiece or Oscar-worthy for best picture, it's still cute and just plain fun!In this live-action version feature film, Daphne (Sarah Michelle Gellar), Fred (Freddie Prinze Jr.), and Velma (Linda Cardellini) are all tired of the positions they play when catching the bad guys and all decide to quite. Shaggy (Matthew Lillard) and Scooby, on the other hand, wants the team to stick together, but they end up breaking up and going off to do their own thing anyway. Flashforward to two years later, and they are mysteriously reunited on a strange island horror theme park, where they have to crack a mystery on why everyone who goes there starts acting so strangely. The movie is very funny and the actors were perfectly casted--the real star, however, is definitely Matthew Lillard. He was able to act like Shaggy and talk like Shaggy like no other. The actors must have had a difficult time acting with a character [Scooby] who doesn't even exist, but they pulled it off well! The special effects were great and the dialouge and storyline were good, too. It was actually quite surprising to see who the real villian was, so it's definitely not predictable. The directing by Raja Gosnell, was also really good. And this movie did not ruin the TV show, either! I'd definitely want see this movie again. And I can't wait for the DVD. Another little special treat viewers get when they see "Scooby-Doo" in theaters is the teaser trailer for the "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" film...so if you are a "Harry Potter" fan, then you might want to check out this movie for a sneak peek! All in all, "Scooby-Doo" was a great film! There were some tiny flaws, but that's okay...after all, it's like a family movie. It was rated PG for some mild language, a little violence, and maybe a few small scary moments for the really young children. I highly recommend this for all fans of "Scooby-Doo"! Final Grade: B+

Review: My friend had forced me into watching this with her ( than again, she also forced me to watch Lilo & Stitch).....but, ....in the end, it was surprisingly not that bad! The whole cast of this movie is just terrific, & the movie is also pretty funny, but I thought the audience was for people around the age 11 & up,maybe not for little kids like it may seem....Daphne ( played by sarah michelle gellar) is the pretty girl, just tired of always having to be "the damsel in distress", Velma (played by Linda Cardellini) is sick of always getting no credit for all the brain-work she does, Fred ( played by Freddie Prinze Jr.) well,....I guess he just left, because...well, he thought he was too good-looking & could find better chicks outside???I never really found out? And Shaggy & Scoob are just there, heartbroken of what has happened..Anyway, 2 years later the gang meets up at a spooky amusement park, & unreluctantly team up again to solve a mystery that starts out as what seems to be a conspiracy to brainwash today's youth, but what ends up to be a good laugh,& the perfect ending to a pretty funny story! I guess I do reccomend this movie after all!

Summary: Not for little Kids
Review: This movie is not for little kids if you don't want them to see demonic characters inhabiting other people's bodies. The mistake they made from the original series is that in the original, the bad guys were always just normal people in costumes. Easy to explain to kids. In this movie, they are real monsters instead; not a nice thought for kids, and harder to explain. The whole movie would have been better with more scenes like the closing credits -- sticking to humor and slapstick, and lose the monster demons. Scooby was great, the rest was not.

Review: This is a great movie. If you like the classic cartoon "Scooby-Doo Where Are You?" or the other Scooby-Doo cartoons and movies, you'll like this one. This movie is even funny, including with a funny cast: Freddie Prinze, Jr. (Fred Jones), Sarah Michelle Gellar (Daphne Blake), Matthew Lillard (Shaggy Rogers), Linda Cardellini (Velma Dinkley), Neil Fanning (Scooby-Doo) and Rowan Atkinson (Emile Mondavarious). And instead of Daphne wearing High Heels, she wears Go-Go Boots. I give this movie ***** (5 out of 5).

Summary: Perfect!!
Review: "Scooby Doo" brings to life on the big screen the pop culture icon cartoon of the 70s and 80s which features a group of teens of their talking dog solving mysteries while journeying across the country in their van "The Mystery Machine." As far as adaptations go, Scooby Doo hits the head on the nail being a near perfect movie adaptation capturing all the charm and humor of the characters while still updating the movie for a modern audience. The movie is bound to please both long-time fans and new fans as well. THE STORY: The "Mystery Machine" gang reunite to solve the case of a secluded island horror theme park where visitors become mindless zombie-like creatures. THE COOL THINGS: The movie, once again, stays very true to the original cartoon and characters. Matthew Lillard's portrayal of Scooby's best-bud Shaggy is dead-on perfect, as well as the portrayals of Scooby Doo and Scrappy Doo. Linda Cardellini turns in a near perfect performance of genius sleuth Velma as well. Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Geller turn in humorous performances as Fred and Daphne as well although the characters are slightly different from the cartoon which may leave purists slightly frazzled. One of the great things about the movie though is its ability to self-parody itself with tons of inside-jokes and tongued-in-check references including Fred's affinity for ascots, Daphne's affinity for getting captured (which is actually a running gag/major plot theme in the movie), Shaggy's supposed marijuana problems and Velma's questionable "lifestyle." BEST SCENES: 1. The dead-on portrayal of the standard Scooby Doo cartoon plot elements (captures, escapes, chase scenes, Scooby and Shaggy pigging out on everything, etc.) 2. Daphne getting all "Shaolin" on the bad guys. Weird to see in a Scooby show, but funny. THE VERDICT: If you ever loved the cartoon, you'll love the movie. If you never saw the cartoons (how you never could have evades me!!!) you'll still love the movie. It's a great mystery/adventure/comedy. Highest Recommendation for all

Summary: A Big Disapointment
Review: When I first read reviews by critics of this film, I thought they were just saying that because critics usually never like any movie. But then I went to go see it, and I was very disapointed. It's not even a children's comedy!!! It's a bunch of people turning a once loved children's show into an obscure movie targeted mostly at adults. But even the adults didn't like it! It seems like they never really knew where they were going with the plot of this movie. And come on...Scrappy's the villain? Most of the humor in this movie was rather intense "bathroom humor" or semi-drug-related ("Like, that's my favorite name!" Shaggy qotes as Mary Jane introduces herself) I did laugh a few times, but as I walked out of the theater, I felt bad about seeing that instead of something better. I'm not saying that everybody won't like it, I'm sure a lot of people will. But take your kids to another movie.

Review: Everyone is familiar and adores Scooby Doo. No matter what age you are, you've at least seen several episodes of this popular cartoon. When I heard that a live action film version was being made of this popular franchise, I became excited. Better yet, when I heard news of my favorite movie star, Sarah Michelle Gellar, signing on to take part, I became even more psyched. Warner Bros. was also taking it's time with this film, which meant promising things. At least they weren't rushing for the film to be completed right away. This gave the filmmakers time to construct a good movie. And they were definitely confronted with some major challenges. Making a live action version of this immensely popular cartoon wasn't going to be easy. It needed to appeal to the legions of Scooby Doo fans who have adored the cartoon for decades, and also needed to appeal to newer moviegoers who aren't that smitten by the cartoon series. I went into the theater with high hopes, but however, in the end, I was somewhat dissapointed even though I was mainly satisfied. First off, the character depictions were very well done. Matthew Lillard's portrayal of Shaggy was dead on, and he even got his voice to match exactly with that of the cartoon's character decades ago. Sarah Michelle Gellar was wonderful as Daphne, and Linda Cardellini as Velma was very entertaining and precise. The only cast member that I was dissapointed with was Freddie Prinze Jr.'s portrayal of Fred. He didn't seem anything like that of the cartoon character, and most of his acting seemed stale and boring. But for the most part, I couldn't have asked for a better cast to represent these pop-culture icon television characters. Scooby Doo definitely managed to boast a top-notch cast maybe with the exception of Freddie Prinze. The plot is also entertaining. The film starts off several years ago with Mystery Inc. out to solve a mystery. At the end, however, the Scooby Gang decides to split up only to be teamed back together again several years later when all of them hear about creepy misfourtunes happening on Spooky Island. Each of them wants to solve the mystery themselves and without the help of their ex-companions. Each character gets plenty and equal amounts of showtime, so none of them are underused. There is also a decent amount of comic relief in this movie. Shaggy and Scooby's scenes are definitely the funniest scenes in the film, and there's even a hilarious scene in which Daphne and Fred's bodies are switched. The film definitely had it's funny moments, but it also needed a little more. In closing, Scooby Doo was good, but it left me wanting a little more than what I received. But in all fairness, Scooby Doo lived up to most of it's expectations and even spiraled past many of them. Making a live action film version of a popular television series isn't easy, and Warner Bros. managed to make an entertaining, and intelligent film which stayed true to young kids, but also gave the adults several moments to laugh at. And for those who really loved this live action version of Scooby Doo, Scooby-Doo 2 is scheduled for a 2004 release date.

Summary: Exceptional Fun for Everyone
Review: Aw, the sweet sound of Scooby and Shaggy being freaked out by a ghost or werewolf or big purple monster. What a sweet thing it was to see them quivering on the big screen! After a year of waiting, it was a great joy -- and I mean that -- to see the live action Scooby Doo on the big screen (And not to mention at our new stadium-seating theatre). The movie played out just like a cartoon episode would if it were to last 90 minutes. And the good thing is, it never bored. The Scooby Gang kept getting thrown into crazier predicaments then the one they just encountered five minutes before. The movie opens with the gang trying to catch a ghost that haunts a toy factory. Everyone is in their stereotypical places. Daphne is in danger, Velma has come up with a plan, Fred acts on Velma's plan and takes all the credit for it, and Scooby and Shaggy are messing things up. In the end, they do catch the villian who turns out to be only human. Mucho like the cartoons. But the gang is tired of being stereotyped. After a riffle, they split up, leaving Scooby and Shaggy with the van. It's not until the owner of Spooky Island gets them all together to solve a case at his haunted-themed amusement park do they reunite. They all separate on their own -- at first -- to gather clues about why those who leave Spooky Island are walking around like zombies, but are ultimately banned together to figure out what's behind the badness at Spooky Island. The portrayers of the 4 main characters in Scooby Doo was excellent casting! Freddie Prinze Jr. played the egotistical yet heartful Fred to a tee! Sarah Michelle Gellar took Daphne's beauty and attitude combination and played it for everything it was worth. And did it very well! Linda Cardellini's looks and giggles and even her "Jinkies" was almost too good to be true as she portrayed Velma. But the highlight out of all the cast members has got to be Matthew Lillard as Shaggy. I couldn't imagine anyone else EVER portraying Shaggy. Lillard had the talk, the walk, the perfect everything for Shaggy. And Scooby. Aw, the sweet endearing CGI Scooby. Never once did I even bother to notice he was CGI. He was real to me the whole time. (Yes, I sound crazy, but I loved the movie.) Scooby Doo is a great, colorful movie and will remain on the top of my list for a very long time. Not only because of it's entertainment value, but because of the heart it gave to its loyal fans.

Summary: One of the worst movie of the worst year!
Review: I always love the cartoon and I watch it every day on Cartoon Network but this is really a bad movie. Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Gellar are such bad actors. Matthew Lillard is definely perfect as Shaggy although he could have save it from being a disaster. Linda Cardenlini fron Good Burger and Freaks and Geeks give some credit as Velma once again she couldn't save it. I hate the CGI look of Scooby, it looks so horrible but overall he's okay. Rowan Atkinston is no bad guy which he is better playing Mr. Bean than his role. and did I mention Scrappy-Doo as the bad guy? It doesn't make any sense, and all of this is terrible. People who saw this movie and say "It ROCKS" and "It's Hillarious and Funny" are probably brainless and crazy no offense on them. but this is one of the worst movie of the year. Everybody should watch the cartoon instead of this bad movie.
