Review: After hearing so many good things, I had high hopes for this film. However, I was sorely disappointed.
Am I the only one who totally didn't GET this movie? I watched the whole thing intently, but by the end... I still had no clue what it was about. I chuckled only once and found the whole thing to be quite strange and ambiguous.
I am not saying these things because I am incapable of understanding this TYPE of film. I happen to LOVE The Royal Tenenbaums and other movies that use subtle humor; such as Lost In Translation or Garden State. But for whatever reason, Rushmore just didn't do anything for me.
I will say, though, that I didn't care much for The Royal Tenenbaums upon my first viewing. It took me a while to really get into it, but now I love it. Perhaps this is also the case with Rushmore, but I don't believe I'll be watching it again.
