Summary: A VERY good movie!
Review: The romance of NYC at Christmas absolutely MADE this movie! And I once read a review that said "fate plays as large a role as the 2 leading actors" and it's very true!
The story echos "Love Affair" and "An Affair to Remember" (only not quite as good), but it adds many laughs and is very well acted!
Highly recommended to all hopeless romantics!

Summary: Nothing Special
Review: It's not that it was a bad movie. It just wasn't that good! If you've seen the preview u know the movie. You know the beginning and u know the end the only thing the movie itself tells you is the middle of the story and that's the boring stuff anyways. The only thing I liked about this movie was the actors in it, and some of their previous work.

Summary: A Gimmicky Love Movie Makes for a Not too Bad Flick!
Review: O.K., Let me start off and say this movie is based on all the "coincidetal" parts in love movies that make females, and some males (I'm a MAN and can admit when I cry), cry.

Yes, this movie is very gimmicky, but that what makes this movie great also. It knows it's very gimmicky and that's what makes this movie, being it's the bases and not to include main plot points.

The story goes like so:

In one magical moment Jonathan Trager (John Cusack) and Sara Thomas (Kate Beckinsale) meet unexpectedly and spend a romantic winter day together, although both are involved with other people. At the end of the night Sara decides they must let fate determine if they are meant to be together and disappears without giving Jonathan a way of reaching her. Ten years later, they are both engaged to others but cannot give up the dream that they will meet again. And so begins their journey to find one another worlds apart!

Like I said, very gimmicky, but that's what makes this movie work.

The DVD itself is nothing too special. It has a good anamorphic widscreen presentation, ok audio, and not too many extras besides a few deleted sensces(nothing to go crazy over here) and an On the Set feature.

Summary: A Great Feel Good Movie
Review: I throughly enjoyed watching this movie. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time wanting the two to meet each other again! I suggest watching this movie when feeling depressed because it will surely raise the spirits of everyone and make you laugh. The movie is also great to watch with friends. I cannot wait to see the movie again when it comes out!!!

Summary: A little biased view
Review: Ok ladies and gentlemen, many of us know already a woman's view on this quirky romantic comedy. So I've decided to prepare a quick guy's view and why we would want to see it. We are introduced to the stars of this year's most underrated romantic comedy as they are shopping at bloomingdales and accidently reach for the same pair of gloves (fate???) and end up in a coffee shop, falling in love over a cup of coffee, cozy as the snow drifts down on a beautiful NYC around christmas time. The perfect date (lasting a few hours), ends with them ice skating and parting ways, without any way of reaching each other, saving a twist of fate. She writes her name and number on a book (Love in Time of Chlorea) and he writes his on a five dollar bill, and they both leave it to the eventual wheels of fate. Flash forward a few years later and both of our stars are a short time away from their wedding and still in love with the stranger from a few years ago. They race around frantically to find each other and I'm not ruining the ending, so read it. It was a great movie with stellar performances from the stars, supporting cast and yes, Jim's dad is a clerk and steals a few scenes. But I said it was a biased opinion, because as a guy, I saw it on a date (my first date with her) with a girl. I had the greatest time with her (theatres), and I too fell in love with her, so thats why it's a biased opinion. So as a guy, if you get this for your girl, and you don't enjoy it at all, I guarentee she will, it's well worth it, I loved just spending the time with her (dont get popcorn for this one, trust me on it). Well take it easy guys, hope you enjoy the movie!

Summary: Serendipity - Utterly Predictable
Review: I am immensely surprised as to how good the average reviews are for Serendipity. Utterly predictable (as the director had no qualms dropping hints along the way in an already uncomplicated plot), and comes cross as nothing but a meek effort to imitate the much more original "Sleepless in Seattle" made 10 years ago. Even good on-screen chemistry between Cusack and Beckinsale could not save the show from its dismal conclusion. Definitely not for viewers craving intelligent dialogue or credible storyline with a twist.

Summary: Gimmicky.
Review: Romantic comedy floating on a premise that's lighter than a feather: two young people (John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale) meet at a department store during Christmas and feel an unusual attraction to each other. But rather than "force it", they decide to leave it to "fate"; i.e., if they're meant to be together, they'll find each other. What the filmmakers apparently didn't ask themselves was what would've happened if our lovers had simply exchanged phone numbers. (There wouldn't have been a movie.) Instead, they give us a doozy of a plot contrivance: he writes his name on 5-dollar Treasury note; she autographs a hardback copy of *Love in the Time of Cholera* (do people this stupid really read Gabriel Garcia Marquez?). If they find each other's signed item . . . oh for goodness sake it's all so RIDICULOUS. (Even more ridiculous than director Peter Chelsom's previous effort, the excoriated *Town and Country*.) Luckily for us, the cast makes this piffle somewhat worthwhile: Jeremy Piven always amuses me, for some reason . . . John Corbett gets the most laughs as a flowing-haired New Age musician who is Kate Beckinsale's finacee . . . speaking of Kate, she's lovely and brings as much depth to her role as she's able. Only John Cusack irritates as the romantic lead, a role he's done almost his entire career and one for which he's totally unsuited. It's no accident that his best performance remains the small-time con artist in *The Grifters* -- he's much more natural at moody sociopaths. Here, he simply reprises the holding-up-the-boom-box-beneath-Ione-Skye's-window-while-it-plays-"In Your Eyes" role he's done since Reagan was President. A sad-sack teenager in love is admittedly sympathetic;...

Summary: Trite, Mean-Spirited, Disappointing
Review: O Where Have You Gone, Lloyd Dobler?

The message of this movie seems to be that you should do what you want, when you want with little or no concern for those who may get stepped on in the process. Zero chemistry between John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale. You know a film is in trouble when the buddy-buddy antics between Cusack and Jeremy Piven can't save it. This is old, unoriginal stuff. The "quotes and trivia" section points out many links between this film and some of Cusack's other works. No wonder it seems so worn. This is a waste of the talents of Cusack, Piven, and Molly Shannon. If you're looking for a romantic comedy that explores the idea of serendipity, rent Sleepless in Seattle instead.

Summary: Special Night with Someone
Review: Serendipity, is a romantic comedy that is a good movie to watch with that special someone. IT is perfect for a nice quiet evening. The movie can be corney at times but just keep an open mind to it.
