Summary: SAVE FERRIS
Review: He's dying and needs a kidney transplant. This poor youth's crisis is noted on the water tower, the Cubs stadium, and the local newspaper of Chicago. But, wait, he's in the Cubs stadium catching fly balls, eating at expensive restaurants and proposing to his girlfriend. Is this some stressed out Make A Wish kid? No, it's Ferris Bueller the best liar and school skipper ever to bring a frown to Dean of Students Ed Rooney's face. Heck, I only bought it because my friend told me Charlie Sheen is in it. Just, please don't watch this on a sick day. The keyboard making vomiting noises is less than inspiring.

Summary: Senior Cut Day
Review: Writer/director John Hughes cornered the market on the "teen comedy", throughout the 80's with such classics as 16 Candles, The Breakfast Club, and Pretty In Pink. No ome quite captured the angst or awkwardness of that intense time better than he did. One of the best films from the John Hughes collection is Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

On a beautiful spring day, during his senior year in high school, Ferris Bueller (Matthew Broderick) decides to cut his classes and experience all that life has to offer. He convinces his best buddy Cameron (Alan Ruck) and his girlfriend Sloane (Mia Sara), that they deserve to join in on the fun. Ferris has it all planned out and much to the dismay of Principal Rooney (Jeffrey Jones), outwits him at every turn. Meanwhile, his sister Jeanie (Jennifer Grey) is sure that he has pulled one over on their parents, and vows to expose his fake illness.

One of the reasons that the movie works for me, is how confident Ferris is. At no time, during the film, does he ever doubt himself. He is totally in control and as those around him plot to expose him, or express doubt--he stays cool. Broderick fufills the the fantasies of every high school student.Who wouldn't want to be this kid in real life? His carefree and gleeful portrayal totally sells the premise. And as our hero moves from one scheme to the next, it's fun to watch him one up the adults around him--especially Jones, as a hapless Rooney. The film also marked one of the first times that the "fourth wall" was broken on film, allowing Broderick to talk directly to the audience. Of course, after that, every other film tried to use that--but never worked quite as well as it does here.

The DVD's only extra is an enjoyable audio commentary with Hughes. It's a shame that that's all there is...deleted scenes, a retrospective documentary, or a separate cast commentary, would have been great. Heck, not even the theatrical trailer, made the disc.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off still works after all these years and is worth your time. Special Edition Anyone...Anyone??

Summary: Bueller... Bueller... Bueller...
Review: Just fabulous. NO other description for this film. It was great fun when it hit and it remains great fun! Ferris is the kid that everything works out for all the time--but FERRIS, unlike so many of those kids, so freaking likeable. Some nice things happen between Ferris and his best friend. And his best friend's personal journey is worthy. Ferris' sister has some great scenes. Just a really good flick.

Summary: One of those movies--
Review: that you can watch over and over and not get sick of it. Though there aren't many bonus features, it doesn't matter...The movie just rocks. You really need to see the movie to appreciate what everyone is talking about. So, this review probably will not help much, you just have to see it.

Summary: I don't agree with the Amazon Editorial
Review: There are certain films that become timeless classics. Hughes put out two of them in the eightees and this is one of them. (The other being Sixteen Candles). I hope Amazon doesn't take offense, but I bought this at a department store over the weekend. A young bespectacled cashier, who couldn't have been a day over 16, remarked that Ferris was his all time favorite movie. Yes, your kids probably won't like this movie, but your teenagers will.....and you will too.

There is just one Special Feature on this film and it is the director's commentary. At times, Hughes delivers some interesting history behind his directorial decisions, but at other times he merely narrates the plot. Too bad the folks at Paramount didn't add a cast member to the commentary. Even without the cast member, fans of Ferris will still enjoy the story behind Cameron's fake voice.

Review: Matthew Broderick breaks into the business fabulously. A comedy AND a chase movie, what else can you ask for?

Summary: One feature, but it's almost enough...
Review: (Instead of reviewing a film you probably already know, I stick to DVD special features)

Those Extras:

Commentary: HUMONGOUS treat. That John Hughes took the time out to go scene by scene for us was too cool. You won't go away still curious about how the film was made.

Overall: Even with the commentary being it, the chance to hear Voice of the 80s Generation Hughes record a track bumps this up to a three. This wasn't dubbed a Special or Collector's Edition, so you gotta feel a more jacked-up offering will be along soon. New interviews, deleted scenes, a BTS and even the trailer(!) will be awesome.

Summary: Bueller.... Bueller.... Bueller....
Review: this has to be one of the greatest comedies of all time and certainly one of the top 5 teen comedies ever. It has John Hughes with Matthew Brodrick, who is outstanding. this film shows what every highschooler wishes they could have been. The supporting cast, everyone from Principle Rooney to Ben Stein (who is actually quite well spooken, very articulate and highly intellegent. And still willing to do his famous line when asked. I've heard him.) Charlie Sheen is great as the druggie who helps put some perseptive into Jeanie's life. Mia Sara is great even if she say's that she overplayed her role.

This is a great, entertaining romp through Chicago on any teen's dream day. Watch it to believe it and have a great time.

Review: Classic line..."Bueller, Bueller?.....Anyone, Anyone?", I saw this movie when I was 10years old, now at 27, I still love watching this movie over and over....Every teenage guy after this movie tried to me as cool, smooth, smart and witty as Ferris. This movie has Classic scenes, unforgettable moments and most of all laughs....Dont let this movie/dvd slip away...
