Summary: Never Mind the Bullocks
Review: This movie is pure genius! It is fun and a fantastic breath of fresh air at the same time. Great style, great characters and great plot... lots of guns, but look beyond the blood if you cannot stand it and watch this great film.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Fun Movie
Review: I loved this movie and so has everyone I have loaned it to. Fast and furious, great british humor. See this one too if you enjoyed Snatch.

Summary: Great Film
Review: I first saw this film in the UK at a cinema, and was blown away. The plot, characters, and cinematography are refreshing.

There is a temptation to compare Ritchie's work to Tarantino, but try to keep an open mind. There are significant differences, especially in character development. Ritchie's characters seem more well-formed to me.

It is clear that Ritchie chose great people to play the roles, and not all of them are trained actors.

The music is somewhat excellent, eclectic, and fits with the movie well.

Sting (the musician) has a peripheral role, but is entertaining.

The DVD release is great - it includes some extras and an overview of the cockney/slang used in the movie. Highly recommended.

Summary: MUCH BETTER THAN TARANTINO
Review: Tarantino doesn't have even half the creativity and originality the director of this movie had. This British production is very good, you care about the characters.

Summary: Learn to speak English!
Review: I can't abide all these bloody Yanks complaining that they can't understand the dialogue. It's easy enough, I'm not from London but had no trouble keeping up, although I was partial to the two lads from Liverpool.

It is a great film in its own right, not a knockoff of Tarantino. Guy Richie scored a winner right off.

The stop action filming and effects of the card game & the soundtrack are the real deal.

Summary: GREAT FILM, Lousy DVD!
Review: The Film: First of all, I loved this film. It is one of my all time favorites. Writer-director Guy Ritchie did great on this, his first film. He is probibly my favorite new director. The camera angles, color, script, and music really make this picture. The acting is great, too. Noteabley, the late Lenny McLean as Barry the Baptist. This film is very well writen and very well made and is enjoyable for many future viewings.

The DVD: This is such a great, great film but the DVD is terrible! First of all, the DVD has barely any extra features. Sure, it has more then some DVD's on the market but when you compare it to 'Snatch' amoung many, it is low. My least favorite part is the documentary. It is pathetic. You wonder why they even threw it in there. It's a seven minute interview with the cast members repeating the plot over and over again. Now the lack of extra features wouldn't make it so bad but then you have the film. The sound is off! This ruins everything! This is especially evident in the scene in which Soap says, "Guns for show, knives for a pro." Terrible.

I have to say the only reason to but this DVD is for the widescreen aspect ration (although it is only 1:85:1 so if you get the VHS, you're not missing much)

Summary: I'm missing something
Review: Maybe it's me. I couldn't make it through the movie, couldn't understand a word they were saying, wasn't interested in the story. Based upon the other reviews, I guess you do need to finish the whole movie before criticizing it. I did enjoy Momento - not easy to follow either, the ending was a twist as well, but the movie kept me interested.

Summary: Better than Snatch
Review: If you like Pulp Fiction and Snatch you will love this movie. It is one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. Try it, you will not regret.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: NO RESERVOIR DOGS AT ALL !!!
Review: Guy Ritchie's style is much more intelligent, clever, fun, original and less violent than MTV's stylish Tarantino, who only copies things !! !! The cvomparison made between this film and RESERVOIR DOGS are nonsense !!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: you pseudo-intellectuals and wannabe artists need to chill..
Review: please... pulp fiction is one of my favorite movies as well, but it was the furthest thing from my mind when i watched Lock, Stock. in fact, i didn't even know comparisons were being drawn until i read the reviews here!

can't you all just enjoy the film for its humor, for its fun factor, for its witty cleverness, without scrutinizing it for undrlying themes or some sign of vast, eternal significance??

it makes me sick when i see people so high on themselves and their own opinions. you show how ignorant you really are when you take a great film like this and criticize it for not being something it was never intended to be.

bottom line: lock, stock is smart, it's funny, the characters ARE lovable in their own ways (contrary to what some have said), and the individual stories (which are portrayed in no way similarly to pulp fiction) come together in one clever, explosive climax. the cinematography may or may not have been a bunch of "first-year film student tricks," but they were utilized quite impressively nonetheless, and they just put the icing on the cake.

if you have half a brain, ignore the self-important critics here and watch the movie. i guarantee you'll find SOMEthing you'll like...
