Summary: Strange...
Review: First of all, I'd just like to say this is the most random movie I think I've ever seen. It really didn't have a point, but it was funny. It has a really good cast. Kirsten Dunst is just awesome, Brittany Murphy is so funny-- the expressions she pulls and her laugh-- she's very effervescent, Denise Richards is really good at playing a person you want to hate, and everyone is just so good. The first time I saw this I thought it was stupid, but if you watch it over and over, you'll learn to love it. Funny movie, great actors, good script, buy it!

Summary: over the top black humor
Review: And guess what? I LIKE over the top black humor. If you think movies like "Drop Dead Fred" and shows like "Third Rock from the Sun" are incredibly funny, you will find this movie to be perfect. (...) Many reviewers didn't like this movie. But I did. Which is why I gave it 5 stars.

Summary: DROP DEAD GORGEOUS DELIVERS...
Review: This mock documentary is a spoof about a teenage beauty pageant. It centers around what purports to be the oldest such pageant in existence, the Mount Rose American Teen Pageant in Minnesota. Look for wonderful performances by Kirsten Dunst, as the pretty, but poor, girl who would be Queen, Ellen Barkin, as her trailer trash mom, Allison Janney, as their supportive and endearing neighbor, and last, but certainly not least, Kirstie Alley, with a priceless Minnesotan accent, who is nothing short of fabulous as the rich, maniacal, beauty pageant director who will stop at nothing to see her daughter, effectively played by Denise Richards, win the pageant.

It is a black comedy which centers around who will win this pageant. As it is a mock documentary, the camera enters into the lives of the front runners. It is a very funny spoof and a great parody of pageants. As the pageant draws near, the front runners begin experiencing a series of calamities, and the body count begins to rise. It is totally irreverent and, at times, quite funny. Denise Richards' talent segment, in particular, is a riot.

Who will win this pageant? Watch the film and find out. You will not be disapoointed. You may even be surprised.

Summary: The price of glory & fame
Review: Despite the teen flick set up & approach, I am suprised to see the seriousness in the plot. Of course we have here the famous Kirsten Dunst & Denise Richards, whose popularity would have been enough to pull a crowd to watch the film. But it takes more than that for the viewers to really appreciate its contents...& that's where the plot comes in.

A seemingly light, humorous, film documenting a beauty pageant turns out to be an eye opener on the lives & dreams of the aspiring contestants, including those that surround them. It deals with how much a person is willing to pay & how far a person is willing to go to attain fame & glory. It shows how power & money can buy out the 'needy'& what the consequences are for those who have been obsessed with vanity.

Summary: Drop Dead Funny
Review: Drop Dead Gorgeous may not be for everyone, but it is a highly slapsticky and silly movie. Kirsten Dunst stars as a trailer park girl with dreams of winning a beauty contest. Her rival is none other than the town princess, played by Denise Richards. The movie is filmed as a documentary type of film with some stylish camera work. The jokes and sight gags all work pretty well. Even the ones that aren't laugh out loud funny are still worth smiling over. Ellen Barkin is perfect as Dunst's trailer trash hairstylist mother. Perfect casting. Kirstie Alley as Richards' mom was a comedic gem. Her Minnesota accent and demeanor was top notch. Allisan Janney from "The West Wing" as another trailer trash character, is over the top hysterical. I laughed rather regularly. The movie is a really nice and delightful surprise. If you seek this one out and are in the right frame of mind, I think you will enjoy it, Give this one a try.

Summary: At What Price, Glory?
Review: "Drop Dead Gorgeous" is an irreverant, politically incorrect mockumentary with a morality tale about overzealousness. Kirstie Alley plays a wealthy socialite who will stop at nothing to help her daughter, Rebecca, played by Denise Richards, win the Sarah Rose Cosmetics American Teen Princess Pageant. Richards' main rival is Amber Atkins, played by Kirsten Dunst, the daughter of a poor single mother(Ellen Barkin) who lives in a trailer park. Amber attends school and holds down two jobs to try to make ends meet, and sees this pageant as a way to improve her quality of life. But this competition has a mysterious body count, and the police, at least on camera, are keeping quiet. Sabotaged at every turn, Amber perseveres, finally given a break by a fellow contestant (Brittany Murphy) who decides to withdraw from the competition at the last moment. Rebecca Ann Leeman's winning so-called talent act for the pageant is a cheesy, if not sacreligious dance to a '60s pop tune, in a '50s outfit, with, of all things, a crucifix.
Rebecca easily wins the obviously rigged pageant. But poetic justice of a horrific kind rains down the next day as the new Teen Princess waits to take part in her victory parade, giving Amber the cherished title she so richly deserves. Subsequent scenes of the hotel convention were a little disgusting. I've noticed that quite a few of Kirsten Dunst's more recent films revolving around some form of competitiveness involve scenes of some one vomiting, often en masse ("All I Wanna Do", "Bring it On").
But eventually, at the end of this rather sick but truthful dark comedy our plucky heroine prevails and achieves her desired goals.

Summary: This is review 119
Review: Need I say more. I don't think so. But if you would like detailed info on the movie, do the search. Surfice to say, I am adding to my library. I don't know of another movie in the same genre that is as good. A dark comedy at its best.

Summary: Hillarious
Review: Denise Richards, Kristie Alley and Kirsten Dunst made me laugh. Kristie Alley plays the snooty mom of Becky Ann Leeman(played by Denise Richards). Kirsten Dunst portrays town girl Amber Atkins, snooty Becky's competition. The story focuses on the teen pageant of a small Minnesota town. The judges, the teens, the mayhem-it's all off the wall. You've got to watch this movie that showcases the most hilarious process of elimination.

Summary: I'm surprised this movie is getting so many good reviews...
Review: I just didn't think it would. I bought it because I was born and raised in Minnesota, and I own a lot of 'made in Minnesota' movies. I found it humorous in some spots but not uncontrollably funny. You will definitely have to be in the mood to hear some of the jokes/digs (about the handicapped, as well as the mentally challenged). I'm not in the mood, that often (hardly ever), to laugh at that type of stuff. So I cannot give it higher than a ONE on the scale.

It's not very often that I would pop this movie in and watch it. And if I did, I wouldn't watch all of it. If laughing at another person's expense (even if it's a general joke) is okay for you, than I guess I recommend the movie.

Summary: Drop Dead Smart and Funny!
Review: " Drop Dead Gorgeous " is about teenage girls competing for the Mount Rose Beauty Pageant, and on to Miss. Teen USA. Although, some mysterious person is murdering some of the contestants, but the show must go on, and it does. Who will it be? Kirsten Dunst and Denise Richards are both big roles in this. There are so many laughs in this movie. Although it seems not very likely of happening kind of movie, it is just so funny with all of it's sarcasm and hip, cool beat. It is not a teen movie in my opinion! It is a very fun movie, and drop dead hilarious! I recommend to buy the soundtrack, too. It is wonderful!
