Summary: Amazing but predictable movie
Review: I was hesitant to see this movie at first because I thought it was going to turn out to be one of those soapy-romantic-boring-predictable movies. After I saw it, it actually became my one of my favorite movies. It was predictable about who she was going to marry, but it had an romantic twist to it, and it wasn't all "lovey-dovey". I would recommend this to other viewers to see, but I also don't recommend it to men who hate romantic movies. It's one of my favorite movies, and I hope you'll love it too. Jake (Josh Lucas) made the movie great, his blonde hair and baby blue eyes, he's soo cute.

Summary: Don't waste your time
Review: This movie was a movie I had hoped for a few good lines, and then a feel good ending. Well I the only few lines were the overplayed lines of the preview, "You have a baby, in a bar" that was about the only good line. I watched this movie in a plane thinking, "hey a movie, that i wanted to see for free" afterwards I would have rather been listening to the lady next to me as she sang to headphones than watch that movie ever again. The plot was predictable beyond anything I have ever seens, the lines were cheesy, it was broadly stereotypical, and the best thing that the movie had was the clothes that Witherspoon wore. And you think i am a cynical "I hate Reese" but I don't I loved her in Cruel Intentions and in Legally Blonde which surprised me greatly. Sweet Home Alabama is not a movie I would ever suggest to anyone. Don't waste your time. Too bad the song was wasted on a terrible movie

Summary: What a hunka hunka josh
Review: I saw the movie on the airplane from Seattle to Tokyo last week. I had seen several TV reviews and interviews last fall with Reese Witherspoon and likely would NOT have made an effort to see it in the theatre because it was TOO predictable. And Reese is cute, but she's no Kathryn Hepburn, Audrey Hepburn, or Doris Day from years past -- when romantic comedies were really romantic comedies.

However, this young Josh Lucas reminds one of a young Paul Newman and what a hunk. His portrayal of a young southern gentleman takes the cake. I would stay married to him any day of the week....

Will probably watch the movie 10-15 more times just to view this "hunka hunka" guy. (Even though I am old enough to be his mom -- good grief I wish I looked as good as Jean Smart!)

Candice Bergman is cardboard.

Summary: Fantastic Chemistry
Review: I think that the best thing about this movie is the wonderful chemistry between Reese Witherspoon aka Melanie Carmichael and Josh Lucas aka Jake Perry (that guy is so hot!). You come out of the movie theatre with a warm feeling in your heart.

Summary: Sweet American Country
Review: I found this movie delightfully good! Before seeing this, I wasn't a big fan of Reese. After seeing the movie, I can say I am "sorta" a fan. I loved how the movie showed both NY & Alabama....but even moreso, Alabama was showed the most. DOWN WITH EM YANKES!

Summary: Proves the power of a star
Review: At last count, this Reese Witherspoon vehicle (resurrected from the dumpster where bad scripts go to die) had pulled more than $125 million at the U.S. boxoffice. Not bad for a comedy that isn't funny. With a premise full of laugh-out-loud potential and a very talented lead actress, this should have been a hoot - and an opportunity to do something different with romantic comedy. What we get instead is a thoroughly conventional bore, and an ending you can see from space. That Melanie didn't sign the divorce papers is supposed to show she "unconsciously" wanted to be with Jake all along, and it was only a matter time before her head caught up with her heart. How sweet. How convenient, too, that in the meantime Jake's also become independently wealthy, opened a creative business, and bought his own plane - because those electric-blue eyes apparently aren't enough, even if he is her soulmate. Things only really catch fire during a bar scene where Melanie manages to insult all of her old school friends and 'out' the local closet case - but then he's immediately embraced by the townies with the open-hearted liberalism for which Southerners are renowned. Witherspoon makes the most of it, and Josh Lucas is good enough, but Candice Bergen is truly a breath of fresh air - pity she gets about three minutes on screen. The only thing that really stays with you is the gratingly invasive title track which will be rocking around your head for days, like a serious hangover you just can't shake. My advice: rent the DVD, watch the theatrical trailer in the 'Special Features' section (it's funnier than the film), then bury the disc in your local 'Coon Dog Cemetery where it belongs.

Summary: Though not up for the next Oscar....it was a cute fun flick.
Review: I am a huge fan of actress Reese Witherspoon...her Legally Blonde movie upped her from just another oscar nominee to earning her A-List respect. I had been waiting to go with my two girlfriends to go and see it....we had got there an hour early. I was a little dissapointed in it. I knew from the get-go Reese was going to end up not marrying her fiancee from New York...and would stick with her old husband....from the previews it was obvious. It is a very good movie to go out and have fun. It brings the romantic out in anyone. I am a movie-addict and have a long list of of favorite movies...I could say it is one of my favorites..but maybe only ebcause Reese is my favorite actress...or it might be because of the cutesy-lines and funny moments. ~

Summary: Awesome!
Review: She's Sweet! Reese Witherspoon plays a rich clothing desinger who is about to get married. She must go back down south to get a divorce from her old husband. Once there, she starts to rediscover her past. It is a really good movie!

Summary: Unforgettable.
Review: Reese Witherspoon delivers amazing performances in any film she does. She is so talented, and she proves it in this movie portraying a girl who discovers she can't leave her past behind her. When she's proposed to and says yes to a running senate, she couldn't be happier! But there's one problem, she's still married to her high school sweetheart. So she goes back to her roots to settle their divorce only to find she can't leave who she is behind or ignore it anymore. The movie is a rollercoaster ride of sweet, romantic comedy, and pure talent. The dialouge and script was written gracefully, and in my opinion, the movie has no flaws. This may not be the movie for serious move-goers though, but if you enjoy a laid back, funny movie, this one is for you. You couldn't ask for a better cast, and the plot is original. Being from Alabama myself, I could relate to alot of the film's enviroment. So go see this movie, buy it, whatever. But this is one movie you do not wanna miss.
