Summary: Excruciatingly Funny
Review: I am still laughing about this movie, even though I saw it several days ago! I have never seen a film that makes simple-mindedness, male modeling and the fashion industry so entertaining.
This is easily Ben Stiller's most hilarious offering. Through mind-numbingly idiotic international male supermodel Derek Zoolander, Stiller both skewers and winks at the world's modeling/fashion industry.
The plot: As the Malaysian Prime Minister prepares to raise wages for his country's impoverished workers, the powerful fashion magnates who rely on cheap labor prepare to strike back. Fashion designer Mugatu is ordered to dispose of the prime minister via an extremely dimwitted patsy, who comes along in the form of Derek Zoolander.
Zoolander becomes the perfect candidate when he looses VH1's Male Model Of The Year Award to archrival Hansel (Owen Wilson), and becomes disillusioned with the fashion industry. But, that's nothing an orange flavored coffee drink cant fix! Life is like a video for Zoolander, whether carousing with similarly dimwitted friends, working in a coal mine or facing down archrivals in back-alley 'walk-offs'.
Words cannot describe the entertainment value of seeing Derek Zoolander, male supermodel, working in a coal mine with his father (jon Voight), played strangely like Christopher Walken. I almost fell off the couch.
There are few genuinely smart characters in this film, but their presences only serve to make the rediculous heroes (and villains) more hilarious. Christina Taylor plays Zoolander's love interest, an intellectual reporter with Time magazine who finds out about the plot to destroy the Malaysian P.M. Jerry Stiller plays the soft-hearted owner of Balls Models, a reluctant participant in Mugatu's scheme. Finally, Saturday Night Live's outrageous Will Ferrell plays Mugatu, the evil fashion designer who programs Zoolander to do the dirty deed. I don't understand how any of the cast made this movie-I would not have been able to keep a straight face.
Most of the extras in this film are, were or can be associated with the modeling/fashion/entertainment industry. Some are mentioned by name, but you can catch others if you are careful and knowledgeable about such things.
There is not enough space to gush about this movie. This is a simply a piece of comedic brilliance that should be seen to be believed.

Review: I think this might have been the worst movie I have ever seen.

Summary: An average movie with good performace by Ben Stiller
Review: This is a top to bottom Ben Stiller flick. He is producer, writer and producer of this movie. To top it up, he plays the lead role too.

Zoolander (Ben Stiller) is a veteran male model who has competetion from Hansel, a new kid on the block. Being extremely dumb, he is chosen by fashion industry leader to assasinate the Malaysian Prime Minister, because the Prime Minister promised to review minimum wage rates, which would lead to pricier clothes.

Time Magazine journalist Matilda, is a pretty young thing, who hates models, because they caused her to feel bad about herself when she was young, and thus she devoloped bulimia.

Somehow, the two come together and along with a little help from Hansel, try to save the Malaysian Prime Minister from the clutches of the fashion industry.

A good watch if you like the Austin Powers school of comedy. You are advised against bringing your brains to the theatre when watching this...

Summary: Welllll!
Review: Surprisingly very funny. Completely stupid in many ways, but that's the whole point. Quite well written, and greatly helped by the comedic timing of Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson, two very funny actors with great careers ahead of them. Cameos from people like Milla Jovovich and David Bowie add to the fun. Mostly though, Zoolander's great because it's funny without being particularly mean, it gives you a group of appealing characters and takes you along for the ride.

Summary: A funny Film, But not Really funny.

Summary:
Relies more on ridiculous stupidity humor; (5 stars if you like this)
.
not ridiculous situational humor normally found with Stiller. (2-3 stars if you like this)

The Script is ok, humor weak (compared to Stiller's usual), acting is ok (Stiller doesn't pull off being stupid well - honestly, I think he is too smart for that!).

Others may well enjoy the humor, but I thought it was too basic. So, whether you buy this and enjoy it, or not depends a lot on your assessment of what makes you laugh.

Story:
Derek Zoolander (Stiller) is the world's greatest male supermodel who is as dumb as a stick (sorry to all the sticks out there who feel insulted). Zoolander is targeted as the perfect stooge in an international plot, and at the same time finally loses the male model of the year award and realizes his limited career as a model. The story goes on from there.

DVD Features:
It has a lot of extra DVD features, butI didn't check. I usually want to see the Director's Commentary, but I think I need a break first.

Summary: Corny
Review: I loved both Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson in Meet the Parents, and they are both funny and good-looking guys who use this movie to showcase how corny and crazy they are. Favorite scenes are their dueling talkoff with Billy Zane in the background, and when they are both trying to figure out how to use the Day-glo orange Apple Computer. These two clowns invoke the same laughter Crazy Uncle Gus used to amuze us as kids, but with more flair. Loved the poking fun of the fashion world, plus the soundtrack and color of the film.

Summary: Funnily Lacking Intelligence
Review: Ben Stiller wrote, directed and starred in this film about three-time male model of the year, Derek Zoolander. During his fourth year of nomination, he was unexpectedly beaten by rival Hansel, played by Owen Wilson.

Little does he know that he has just been selected to assassinate the Malaysian Prime-Minister by Mugatu, a fashion designer tycoon, who invented the piano-key necktie (played by SNL's Will Ferell).

There are several cameos by many famous actors, actresses, singers and even models, parodying their very own profession. The plot may fall flat and a few times and some of the jokes may not succeed but the ones which do are well worth seeing this film. If you are a fan of the Austin Powers series, then you will surely like this humourously brainless comedy picture.

Summary: What a movie :)!
Review: This was definitely a pre-order, after seeing this in the theater I made sure to find out when it was going to be released on DVD. Several times I find myself laughing so hard I'm almost crying.

Summary: Ooooh...
Review: ...I didnt want to like this movie. However, given the offal that I mistakenly rent on a weekly basis, I was not driven to shower or puke after watching it. No belly laughs, but a few guffaws. Though the star is not a SNL member, it is an SNL movie more or less...Certainly better than the worst movie Ive seen in I dont know how long, "The Ladies Man", but definitely not Ben Stiller's finest moment. Chock full of meaningless cameos as well...

Summary: Funny!
Review: Ben Stiller stars as Derek Zoolander, a very famous, dimwitted, self-absorbed, yet lovable male model. After his rival, Hansel (Owen Wilson) wins the male model of the year award over him and his roommates die in a freak gasoline accident, Derek comes to the conclusion that there's more to life than being "really, really, really, ridiculously good-looking." He decides he wants to help people and try to be a normal person. He goes back to where he grew up and takes a shot at working with his father as a coal-miner. Needless to say, that doesn't work out. He returns home, only to be unwillingly brainwashed by Jakob Mugatu (SNL's Will Ferrell) and Katinka (Milla Jovovich) to kill the Prime Minister of Maylasia because they're afraid the prices of garments will go higher due to the fact that the PM is trying to get rid of child slavery. Zoolander is packed with cameos by David Duchovny, Lenny Kravitz, Billy Zane, Ralph Lauren and many more and it also stars Ben Stiller's wife Christine Taylor (as reporter Matilda Jeffries) and his father Jerry.

The DVD edition of this is the best because it features some deleted scenes, a music video from the Wiseguys, an interview with Ben Stiller and lots more. I highly recommend picking this hilarious comedy up!
