Summary: Trading films between TV and Disc???
Review: I really love this film: I can add very little to what's already been said....except these. I've always wondered why when I watch the television version, there's an entire scene involving Clarence Beeks' aquisition of the crop reports that *does not* appear on the laser disc version. I've never owned the VHS version, so I don't know if it's also missing this scene. Personally, after seeing this scene on TV, I felt very annoyed that my laser disc lacked this footage. It explained a few things that seemed a bit choppy for their lacking from the disc version. I wonder now if Paramount will add this "missing scene" to the DVD as an extra feature. Anyone who loves this movie ought to compare the movie with and without this scene. Nudity is a bit gratuitous at times. Other than that quibble, it's a fine movie. The bookie/stock broker comparison is right on the money! Cheers! :)

Summary: Turnabout combined with slapstick
Review: Some crusty/pompous socialites with a thin veneer on top of their sadistic tendencies get paid back in spades for a cruel prank. Overall it's an enjoyable comedy with some nice acting and yes, even some real social commentary.

Summary: A big Joke
Review: The good reviews of this movie really missed the mark...there is no good comedy here, it's just full of clitches and bad acting which lead up to a tasteless sort of ending. Like most Hollywood comedies these days.

Summary: Classic
Review: This is a comedy classic, on par with Caddyshack, Fletch, and better than 90% of the movies from the Chevy Chase, Dan Akroyd, Bill Murray, etc. clique. It is also one of the first American comedies with the courage to deal with racism, stereotypes, and white/black perspectives, and it does so with a deft touch that leaves audiences laughing rather than fuming. Eddie Murphy and Akroyd are masterful together, and Akroyd's Santa work on a huge piece of salmon is still unforgettable. WHY IS THIS MOVIE NOT YET ON DVD? Good lord, this should have been one of the first 50 "older" films put on to DVD....

Summary: A Truly great movie
Review: This is a movie I will get on DVD the moment it comes out. I cannot express how great it is. I wonder how many Nobel Committee members have been asked if they would give an award to someone who conducted the Dukes' research.

Summary: One of the best movies ever made
Review: The first time i saw this movie in 1983 i fell in love with it. Eddie Murphy and Dan Aykroyd are fantastic in this movie, I just wish they did more movies together. And Jamie Lee Curtis famous mirror scene made me fall in love with her (you know what i mean fellas). This movie was well acted and showed that there no such thing as a sure thing. Please vote for this movie to get the DVD treatment and write Paramount pictures get them to do the right thing.

Summary: It still works!
Review: I saw this years ago on cable in my teens and thought it was an intelligent, witty comedy with a double fish-out-of-water twist. That opinion has not changed. I watched it again recently and found myself remembering jokes, but that did not diminish my laugh response.

This film again proves my theory about Eddie Murphy: he is incredibly funny when given good material. Other evidence: Bowfinger, Shrek, and 48 Hrs. He is obviously a good actor to be able to create many believable characters within the same film as in The Nutty Professor and Coming to America (which also has a scene that humorously references back to Trading Places), he just needs the funny material to work with (unlike The Nutty Professor, Metro, Vampires, Harlem Nights--sorry, Eddie--and the last twelve Beverly Hills Cop films).

Trading Places is a modern comedy classic, a film that can be relied on to elicit laughs regardless of age or familiarity with the material. Watch especially for the subtlety of the late Denholm Elliott's performance as Coleman the butler.

Summary: Please release this on DVD!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: This is my favorite comedy of all-time. It out-ranks Big Lebowski (barely)!!! It is a wonderful story, a true example of comedy. The acting is so good that when I see each of these actors in other roles, I cannot think of them outside of this film.

This movie is the comedy equivalent of the Godfather. It is unbeatable. And for that reason, I plead with the people who can make this happen: PLEASE RELEASE THIS ON DVD!!! I need this for my collection.

Either way, watch it, love it, buy it!!!

Summary: Go Ape
Review: One of the funniest comedies available. If you like humor like Caddy Shack, Something About Mary, or Shrek you will enjoy this movie. It has slapstick, subtle, and outragious humor. Great cast with Eddie Murphy, Dan Aykroyd, Jamie Lee Curtis, Don Ameche, Ralph Bellamy, Denholm Elliot, and Paul Gleason. Good holiday movie since it takes place near Christmas. Scene with Akroyd as drunk Santa is fairly funny even if you are PC and belong to MADD. The Duke brothers make a bet that one can take a homeless bum off the street and make them a rich broker leads to some underhanded, unethical, double-dealing behavior. But some outragiously funny incidents as well. Guys won't want to miss Eddie Murphy's antics or Jamie Lee as a hooker. Women will appreciate the more subtle humor of putting a man with Ape costume on in a cage with a amorous male Gorilla.
