Summary: A must see for every "Indie" fan
Review: I remember the first time I saw this indie "epic" - having read one quick review in a zine, and then checking it out in a theater on vacation. It's very rare that any movie these days can truly give you great storylines, interesting characters, yet keep you amused & interested the entire time. An ingeniously written script, great delivery by Kevin Smith and the supporting cast, and devoid of Hollywood sentimentality. Kevin Smith is the king of clever dialogue, subtle and not so subtle low brow humor and Stars Wars references. Yes, it's rude and low budget but that's what I like about it. Okay, it was shot on some sort of grainy Black and White film, so the picture quality doesn't really benefit from the digital clarity. The sound is surprisingly good for the production cost and I actually caught a joke that I had missed in previous viewings. I'll spit on your grandma's sausage wallet you dog fellater. However, the whole reason (besides it's being a great film) to buy this DVD is the extras. If you are a fan of the extras on DVD's this has pretty much all that you always hope will be on a disc: deleted scenes, a music video from the soundtrack, directors commentary, and an alternate ending! The commentary (which I am listening to as I type this) was recorded during production of his second feature "Mallrats" (which the critics panned but I loved) and really gives you a feel of Smith's personality and what it would be like to watch the film with him and his friends. Check this one out. This is in my top 5 movies EVER and is a "must have" for the hard-core fan.Nootch # 2

Summary: Great movie but a weak DVD
Review: I ordered my Collector's Edition of Clerks early an anticapated it's release more than anyone I knew. When it finally arrived the excitment overwhelmed me. However, the deleted scenes are just long versions of the scenes in the movie; the audio commentary tells you nothing about how the movie was made. It was just a bunch of drunk guys sitting around laughing about how much they like the movie and their favorite parts. I love this movie, but the lame extras on this DVD pull my rating down. If you want something for your money get the Collector's Edition of Good Will Hunting.

Summary: A Bonafide Indie Classic
Review: I remeber the first time I saw this indie "epic" - having read one quick review in a zine, and then checking it out in a theatre on vacation. And let me tell you, this film is a classic. The whole look and feel captures the texture of life in the convience world. Yes, you can really only appreciate it if you've worked retail before, otherwise the jokes will most likely fly over your head. But the fact that Smith bothers to add a very thoughtful and meaningful epilogue (the boys do some soul searching after a rather hilarious food fight in the store) to the piece only shows the heart of this junk food epic. This one is very dear to my heart, for it captures the exact feel of the young working class. Yes, of course, the dialogue is contrived. Yes, the acting is amateur night. But this piece is still a classic. I recommend anyone to check it out. This is what independent films are all about, folks. Not hip pieces about tough talking slicksters. But true, from the heart expressionism.

Review: If you've ever worked in the service sector you will enjoy living vicariously through these twenty-something characters who contemplate life, love, and happiness while terrorizing their clientele. This movie is by far Kevin Smith's best film. An ingeniously written script, great delivery by Kevin Smith and the supporting cast, and devoid of Hollywood sentimentality. Be forewarned - this movie is extremely vulgar and not for the faint of heart. (Quotable quote: "37 Times?")

Review: Speaking as an Independant filmaker,I could only hope to write anything half as funny. Kevin Smith is An artist who has a unique ability to To transform mundane microcosoms into uproarious comedy. Yes, I love this film, A welcomed friend in the midst of all the dialogue lacking Big Budget Hollywood Flicks. I am not ashamed to say, that I am 26 years old, and this is my favorite movie..In Conclusion, No Time For Love Dr. Jones.

Review: Let me just say for the record that I love balck and white in films and that I have worked in retail. Given that, the film still blows. The reviewer below was right, not by praising it, but by comparing it to a student film. This movie is the definition of amateurish. Uninspired direction, hopelessly bad acting, contrived situations and only a mild amount of laughs. Maybe worth a rental, but that's about it. Maybe...

Summary: What can I say?
Review: For anyone who has ever wondered what Shakespeare would be writing, were he alive today; look no further than the films of Kevin Smith. Whitty Dialogue, intricate story lines, characters with depth, and baudy humor (to satisfy the rabble in the pit; we smell our own)are the hallmark of his films. This film, the first of what fans have dubbed 'The Jersey Trilogy', is a decent debut for Smith, but the movie drags ever-so-slightly in the middle. It is, however, by no means is a disappointment. The new DVD release comes packed with features and is a "must have" for the hardcore fan.

Summary: In your face laughs
Review: Well I was laughing from the start. The pace and look makes me think of all the crap I video-taped in high school (my friends and I doing nothing but argueing and goofing off) The humor is definitely "no holes barred" but that just adds to the appeal. I did find it a bit faulty at times when the script and the lines these people were saying became almost too well-written, and thus, not as believable. But over-all, it's great fun!
