Rating: Summary: I'm surprised it has 4 stars out of 5 Review: Really, I am! I mean, this is why I don't watch movies that I don't know any of the actors. I recognized 2 faces from somewhere, the 2 chiefs, and that was it. But the movie itself, was really silly, with no plot what so ever, and really dumb things happening. Like, they pull over all these idiots and say the same thing, "Liscence and registration!" The movie gets really lame, and it's really dumb. My friends picked it out, not me, I would have never even thought about watching it without them. The movie did have some good points though, as I said, the 2 chiefs were pretty good, and the darker guy was good too, oh, and of course, the girl office worker, I don't know any of their names cause I mostly never paid attention to them. It also had a few good laughs, that's why it's 2 stars, instead of 1. Please, I've seen alot funnier movies then this, this sucks and skip it!!
Rating: Summary: Pretty damn funny Review: I got as much out of this as I expected to get--it's not deep or well-scripted, just kind of balls-out entertainment with some really funny sequences. Wouldn't mind seeing these clowns do another film, a sequel or something new. We'll see. I thought the Jane Doe joke was funny as hell. And the stoners, of course.
Rating: Summary: I LOVED THIS MOVIE Review: You want to have a very good laugh, and not take a movie seriously?? This is the one for you. The opening scene is the funniest I have seen in a long, long time. I don't like the comparisons to "Police Academy", it's nothing like that.
Rating: Summary: Mildly amusing POLICE ACADEMY style comedy Review: SUPER TROOPERS is one of those movies which has a shoestring plot: State Troopers find themselves at risk of losing their jobs to the Highway Patrol, but soon come across an opportunity to combat this, only if they can crack a case involving a drug ring. The movie is basically just a string of gags; some are amusing, some aren't. Keep your fingers crossed this won't turn into another POLICE ACADEMY franchise. The Greens won't be too happy with the opening gag, which features a doper eating two bags of pot (according to the movie US$100 worth) when the Troops try to bust him. Strange considering along with Mr. Clark, Winnie The Poo and The Family Values Brigade, The Greens recently voted to ban the parallel importing of DVDs and VHS tapes into NZ, which shows where the priorities of these people lie. Moaning aside, the DVD extras include a boring and unfunny mockumentary, as well as an alternate ending for the film and some deleted scenes, including one of the actors inducing vomitting for a toilet scene. You've got to suffer for your art!!
Rating: Summary: Funniest Movie to come down the pike in a long time Review: I didn't get a chance to see this movie in theaters, and when I rented it I expected to maybe get one or two good laughs. Boy was I wrong. This movie is one of the freshest and funniest movies to come out in a long, long time. I just ordered the DVD and can't wait to get it. I have actually watched this movie about 6 times in the last month, and can't get enough of it. All I can say is that if you are a fan of comedies be prepared to laugh outload at this movie."Who want's a moustache ride?"
Rating: Summary: it may be dumb, but it will definitely make you laugh Review: I actually ran into "Super Troopers" first with the trailer, which I saw online. Didn't get around to actually seeing the movie, until just recently, when it was on cable. And I laughed my butt off the entire time, so I ran out and got the DVD. The Broken Lizard guys may be virtually unknown, but they are really funny, and the movie is quite good. The concept of bored highway patrolmen pranking nonstop to keep themselves from being so bored is hilarious, and the movie keeps moving quickly with the jokes. Sure, a lot of them are dumb, but dumb humor is always funny, unless you have no sense of humor at all. In that case, go buy some boring Merchant-Ivory film or something equally boring.
Rating: Summary: Enough Already Review: I guess I must not have "gotten" this movie. I am a big fan of "stupid" movies such as Dumb and Dumber-Dude, Wheres My Car? and so on. This movie doesn't even compare. I think I laughed two to three times. The jokes aren't funny, the acting is forced and lame and the script is awful. I heard from some co-workers that this movie was hilarious so I borrowed it from one of them. Thank god I didn't spend any money. The majority of people that I have heard that think this movie is funny are the same people who don't get why people love Office Space which I think is a comedy classic. Anyways I gave it one star for the two or three laughs but thats it. Don't waste your time or if you are so bored...wait, watching paint dry would be better. Skip this one altogether.
Rating: Summary: The most underrated cast and movie Review: I think it's safe to say that anyone who saw this movie saw it because of its trailer. No one had probably heard of the comic group "Broken Lizard", I'm sure of that. But then that's the point of the trailer. The five-man police team of Broken Lizard stars Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, and Erik Stolhanske; along with their ill-fated chief Brian Cox. The group, who's on the verge of having their station shut down, does pretty much whatever they please out on the road. I mean, they are cops. Maybe not good cops, but still cops. They do things ranging from highway games such as "repeater" to seeing who can say "meow" the most. And I can honestly say the first 10 minutes or so of 'Super Troopers' is the best first 10 minutes of any movie I've ever seen. And even after the beginning, the comedy and laughs continue on throughout the movie. And in fact, the point that their station is going to be shut down doesn't even phase them. They just keep on making jokes until we (the viewer) can't handle it. The movie was said to have no plot, and that's very true. But a good plot isn't even needed. The acting is so awesome, you'll seemingly have a new respect for your local boys in blue. Okay, maybe not. I do have to say that Kevin Heffernan's role of the dense and almost stupid Farva is the best. He is basically the odd man out, as the other four officers are good friends. The lines that Farva has are so dumb that you can't help but laugh out loud. Besides Heffernan's infamous Farva, there's Thorny (Jay Chandrasekhar), Mac (Steve Lemme), Rabbit (Erik Stolhanske), and Foster (Paul Soter). All five characters bring their own blend of comedy to the force, which is why they work so well together. The comedy they use almost seems to be like small skits; and they even manage to give Jim Gaffigan, who has done stand-up comedy on Comedy Central, a small but hilarious role as one of their many quote-unquote: victims. I don't like to give away movie endings, even if the ending is not what makes the movie. So that's where I'll stop. If you like comedy films you'll certainly enjoy 'Super Troopers'. It is one of my favorite movies, no doubt. I gave it 5 stars, even though it didn't have a truly good plot. And it derserves 5 stars; which if you see this movie, you'll understand. Like I said, the five-man crew may or may not give you a new respect for the force; and if not you'll still laugh for the entire movie. If you saw the trailer and even thought about seeing the movie, do see it. The trailer provides for only about five percent of the movie's true, comical greatness.
Rating: Summary: Disappointing... Review: I find it funny that I thought Kung Pow was going to be lousy and that this would be funny. Well in reality Kung Pow had me rolling and this film barely made me chuckle. The biggest downside was most of the laughs come in the first 20 minutes or so. I did find the film amusing in ways but it just ever lived up to it's potential. I thought some of the jokes could have played out better. The acting wasn't bad though considering the writers played all the major parts. It was a smile inducing romp through a wacky copland but the actors just couldn't sell the big laughs well enough.
Rating: Summary: Good Stuff Review: My friends and I just sit around and crack up when we watch this. It puts a very funny spin on something that really [stinks] when it happens to you. Farva steals the show in this one, but everyone chips in on the laughs. Great, great, movie. You won't regret buying it.
