Summary: Save your money - terrible season, terrible value
Review: Eight measley episodes. Almost no special features.

When SJP got pregnant, HBO gave us 8 episodes, took a break, then gave us "bonus" episodes a few months later. I guess the bonus ones got stuck with season 6, because they're missing.

Summary: 2 DVD's?!?!?!
Review: I enjoyed the episodes but was disappointed that I payed more for 2 DVD's and 8 episodes than I did for seasons 3 and 4 with about 8 episodes on each of the 3 disks!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: I heard so much bad stuff, but I liked it!
Review: Ok, granted it was a little expensive for only 8 episodes--BUT if you are a true SATC fan, then you need to have it. The episodes were great in my opinion. They were all so touching! I love this season just like all of the others, I just wish it was longer!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Good sex...but too short
Review: The utter dissappointment here is merely the 8 little episodes, vs. the classic 12 or 13 of seasons past. I liked this season a lot!

Summary: A tad disappointing
Review: Well, the shortness of the series certainly does beg the question, why did they try squeeze in Season 5 with two pregnant ladies instead of just waiting another year? In addition to the brevity, this series really isn't as strong as the previous four, and the first three episodes are unworthy of what we have come to expect from Sex in the City, or even from HBO. The jokes are forced and lewd rather than funny, and somehow the attention to detail just isn't there - which is irritating because of its unnecessary carelessness. (Two unforgivable examples: in the Atlantic City episode, Carrie goes from lanky hair in need of a cut to tight frizzy perm and back to lanky hair, and in the Christening episode, Steve's Mom holds Baby Brady so badly the viewer is almost relieved that he's obviously a doll.) But it does get better, and five of the episodes are pretty good entertainment. If you're a fan, an average of $6.50 per good episode isn't a fabulous deal, but you'll do it. And face it, anyone who's mad about the price must have known how few episodes there were before they bought it. So here's my advice: if you're a big fan, pay the money and be quiet. If you're not, rent it.

Summary: Quality over quantity
Review: First off, let me state that I've never seen this show. That said, allow me to disagree with a post below, "We're not stupid". I beg to differ, as some people are stupid. Not all. And perhaps not any reviewers here. But some people are stupid. And a lot of women are -- the target market of the show -- stupid. But a lot aren't too. This disc-set is less costly than the skinny one's shoes that she buys. Okay, I have seen the show. And I am in fact stupid. But I like this show, by golly! Even if I wasn't stupid, I'd probably like it. But for now, this fool is willing to part with his money. We were lucky to get together in the first place. Sassy, Spry, Sprightly, and Samantha. I'm out!

Summary: Short, yes -- but oh so sweet!!
Review: Ok, at this point it seems everyone who has ever even just heard of Sex and the City is aware of the fact this season is the shortest of them all. And given the comparative length of the preceeding four, it's valid that many fans, myself included, feel somewhat let down by this. Eighteen episodes would have been nice, sure, but we have to remember why we only got 8: two of the four women were actually pregnant during the production of these shows and this obviously affects how far producers can take things while still staying true to the realities of each of the characters.

Over and above that, I'm sure we can all find fault with HBO for having priced this season the same as all the others, and the criticism there too is valid, only it's time to look beyond this at what this season DOES offer in terms of the content that has nothing to do with bemoaning the final tally of actual episodes. Don't get me wrong, I'm not exactly doing backflips over the price I had to shell out either, but I think most of the reviews on here are missing the boat in getting past this.

This season, in short is as dynamic and as savvy as any of them.
Each of the characters continues to evolve as the single, independent women they all are and to me, the way in which all of them are growing and changing in their own very unique circumstances is both a joy to watch and as fascinating as ever.

It's witty, intricately interwoven and best of all true to the nature of each of the characters. That explains its (growing) mass appeal--with every successive season, it seems more fans find themselves identifying with each of the characters in an ever deeper and more meaningful way. And I'm one of these die-hard fans who is convinced that like a fine wine, this show just keeps getting better with time.

Let's be honest, this is one of the best TV shows ever and this season is a critical part of the whole series. For me, it's worth every penny!

Summary: Less bang for my buck
Review: I did enjoy this season, as I do with every season of Sex and the City. I don't think season 5 was a throw-away season. Although I do hesitate to spend this much on only 8 episodes. Granted - they are a great 8 episodes. But so are the other episodes where I get 18ish episodes for the same price.

I think I'll wait for season 6 to come out and see if this price goes down. I'm just not willing to spend that much money on such little product.

Summary: We're not stupid!
Review: Eight episodes for the price of 18? No thanks! Answering to the comment along the lines of "nobody else can do this"...how about "frasier" who pulls 22 consistantly hilarious episodes? The price is a disaster on this set! We really need to let these people know that we aren't idiots. I pay for quality AND quantity.

Summary: Excellent, Fun, What every girl needs!
Review: This is a wonderful season. When is season six going to be out. This is the best series ever on television!
