Summary: Slow-paced Family Comedy
Review: FRIDAY, JANUARY 2, 2004--Likable, if predictable (and bitter-sweet), comedy about an appealing married couple (the ever-watchable Steve Martin and Bonnie Hunt) with 12 wacky kids. When Mom heads off to get her book published, Dad gets stuck with the brood, and being that Dad is Steve Martin, further plot details are no longer necessary. 'Cheaper' is kinda cute, if a bit more low-key than maybe some folks are expecting. Verdict: wait three or four months and rent the DVD.

Summary: a very warm film
Review: As family movies goes, this one is a nice one. It is warm and very funny. We left very touched and glad that someone out in Hollywood decided to make this category of film. I for one would love to see more family movies out there like this. As a parent, I do get tired of going to only cartoon movies, it was a nice change. :)

Summary: Don't bother...
Review: We went for a family outing and wound up feeling depressed rather than amused. This is a story about a family falling apart -- self-absorption reigns in all of the adults! The kids' cuteness doesn't help much -- too many of them to get to know/care about any of the characters. Steve Martin's talents are wasted. Take the kids to something else...

Review: It is a good movie, if you like that kind of movie. I did not like it that much , but i had my expectations way to high becuase of its cast, but if you want to see a movie with your family then i would reccomend it.

Summary: A good family movie as long as you don't take it too literal
Review: Like someone else posted, this was a good crowd-pleaser of a family comedy. My 9-year-old son and I both enjoyed it. Kind of reminded me of Yours, Mine and Ours. We didn't expect it to be the best movie we've ever seen, so we knew what we were in for and were able to sit back and just enjoy it. I remembered reading the book when I was a kid, and hopefully I can get my son to read it. All in all, a fine entertaining film.

Review: I like Steve Martin. From his 70's wild & crazy guy days to his transformation to serious dramatic actor. He is a talented man but if I had to recommend a Steve Martin, this would not be the film He's appeared in a similar plot, the Ron Howard directed "Parenthood" which despite it's poor ending is a far more superior movie than "Dozen". Parenthood emphasized the characters, the parents and the children. It made you care about the people you saw on the screen or in some manner you can relate to them. With Dozen, it's a cliché driven, plot so predictable, you'll figure out the ending in the first half hour. Large family with 12 kids, 11 really since 1 daughter has her own apartment, make a mess and lots of noise in a small farm community. The dad gets a "dream" football coaching job and moves his family to a bigger house in the big city where he promises everything will be "better". You should know what happens next. All the kids, including the oldest boy, a football jock run into the big city "naysayers" and everyone wants to move back home. The children play all the typecasts there have ever been, the tomboy girl, the fashion maven (Hillary Duff), the jock (Tom Welling), the nerd called "Fed-ex" , the mischievous twins. Really the only fun part for me in this movie was keeping tabs on how many kids I could remember. The congenial Bonnie Hunt plays the mother who gets a book deal and leaves Martin with the kids to watch while doing his dream football coaching job. Needless to say it doesn't work out. Neither does this film so if you want to watch a Steve Martin film with kids watch "Parenthood". The kids in this film just seem too rehearsed.

Summary: A Family Comedy.
Review: Steve Martin is probably the remake king in Hollywood (though Eddie Murphy isn't too far behind). Martin has starred in remakes of television shows (SGT. BILKO) and old movies (FATHER OF THE BRIDE). He has continued in that vein starring in CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN, a film based off of a classic memoir from the first half of the 20th century. Steve Martin really isn't the star of CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN. Neither is Bonnie Hunt, though her character resonantes more with the audience than Martin's. The stars of this film are the 12 children. Therefore, the movie is a true family comedy. It's a movie about a family with a strong message emphasizing the importance of that grand institution. The film has a little bit of something to appeal to everyone and without any of the gratuitious language, sex typical, or unneeded violence of many comedies nowadays. I was really surprised by CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN. I knew it wouldn't be like the original book and film, but thought it might be more like the off-beat BRINGING DOWN THE HOUSE. Instead, the movie was a fairly honest and heart-warming film all about the importance of family. I come from a family of only four children, but we are very close. I could really relate to the movie and was glad to see a film enforce and support families. Here's to families!

Summary: The Best Family Film in a while
Review: Cheaper by the Dozen is a fantastic family film. I'm from a family of six kids and could relate to a lot of what this family was going through.<..Steve Martin is great. ..... I liked Cheaper by the Dozen. It's a film you can take the whole family too that they will enjoy. Big families will really like it. It's great to see Steve Martin break back out this last year. Take your kids to go see this, they'll enjoy it and so will you.

Summary: Cute, but nothing special
Review: Martin and Hunt are great in the movie. I always enjoy Martin's facial expressions. The kids really become 2nd characters, since I can't even remember who's who. The story is weak and pulls all the heart strings. Cute, but nothing new. Stick around for the out takes during the credits.

Hunt as Tom and Kate Baker.Tom is a sports coach and Kate is stay at home mom writing a novel called "Cheaper By the Dozen",
and they happen to have twelve kids,their oldest being Nora
played by Piper Perabo who is dating an idiot model/actor named Hank.The other memorable character is the uptight Lorraine played
by Hilary Duff.But the movie really isn't that good.Steve Martins earlier movie of 2003 titled Bringing Down the House was a funny movie,but this falls very low from that film.But the story is Tom gets a great coaching job forcing the kids to move away really making all the kids mad especially the second oldest
Charlie (Smallvilles Tom Welling).But then Kate has to go to New York to publish her book and ends up going on a book tour.Now don't waste your money on this movie,if you're dying to see it,buy a ticket for another film and then sneak into this one after you see the first,Bottom Line:Don't Waste Your Money!!!
