Rating: Summary: Funny and Sweet! Review: When I saw the previews for the movie a couple weeks ago, I thought it would be a fun movie to see. I don`t normally go to see these little movies in the theater since I always go with my mom and sister. (We usually only go to the "big hit hollywood movies" and maybe rent this kind on dvd.) When I heard there was a sneak preview, I had to see it. And ended up going by myself. It was so much fun to see a movie like this on the big screen. It was a genuinely funny film, Steve Martin was great! And the kids were perfect in their roles and added that touch of sweetness. With one kind of unnecessary scene that could have been shortened, but which I found myself chuckling about afterwards. It is a great film which I can't wait to see again and will be buying when it comes out.
Rating: Summary: With Twelve You Get Headache! Review: After seeing "Cheaper By The Dozen", I wonder if this was a working title of this motion picture. Kate and Thomas Baker (Bonnie Hunt, Steve Martin) are middle class parents trying to juggle careers and restore sanity in the Baker household. The overall result is both dramatic and hilarious, which proves once again why Steve Martin is the master of his craft - wearing two hats as a standout comedic and dramatic actor. Martin was equally as successful as advertising executive Neal Page 16 years earlier in the touching motion picture "Planes, Trains & Automobiles", where he was dealing with a similar, yet different situational predicament with one Del Griffith ([the late, great] John Candy). But this time, Thomas Baker's worries are 12 times greater, which means 12 times the laughs, and, in some cases, 12 times the tears, as the Baker clan says goodbye to the rural community they'd been attatched to for several years, and hello to the big city. This move opens up new doors for Tom and Kate, as Tom receives an offer to coach football at a local high school for, of course, bigger bucks, and Kate has a book publishing deal looming on the horizon. Also, the Baker children, 12 strong, are also part of this package deal, and when you have this many kids, things are bound to get topsy-turvy, which is the case when Kate leaves for New York to promote her book, while Tom is "stuck" in Chicago looking after the kids and his career simultaneously. Of all the younger members of the Baker clan, Hilary Duff's performance stands out the most, and, at 15, her future is bound to get brighter and brighter with each new release. By contrast, Steve Martin, at 58, shows no sign of slowing down, or retiring, for that matter, as a running scene in "Cheaper By The Dozen" will attest to that fact. Bonnie Hunt shows her wares as a seasoned actress, and Ashton Kutcher turns in a good performance as well. All of the above qualities make "Cheaper By The Dozen" a movie worth seeing. If you weren't one of the lucky ones who caught the November 28th sneak preview, don't despair. It opens in theaters nationwide December 25th. Be sure and take your "dozen" to see these "dozen". You won't have to wait much longer!
Rating: Summary: Steve Martin does it again! Review: This movie is full of laughter, it is also sad in parts but it is a great movie. Steve Martin plays a dad who takes care of many kids while his wife is in New York on a trip, chaos is happening all over the place. It makes you think what you would do with 12 kids. I laughed so much and cried it is certainly a movie to buy!
Rating: Summary: Laugh out loud movie! Review: This movie was so funny!! Especially when the kids played the tricks on Nora's boyfriend (Ashton Kutcher). YOU ABSOLUTLRY HAVE TO SEE THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!! The kids are funny, the plot is sweet, ans it's a definite family film. I got to see a sneak preview of this movie (so i got lucky), you have to wait till Christmas Day. But it's well worth the wait!!!!!
Rating: Summary: :) Review: I thought this movie was very funny. Throughout the whole movie I was kept alert! It was hilarious, however there were still touching and sad moments in the film! I thought all of the actors did a great job. Steve Martin was great and all of the other actors added a lot of excellant diversity to the movie. It was a feel good movie with a great message! :)
Rating: Summary: The end of humor Review: What I saw appalled me. Since when is a dog ferociously attacking a young man's genitals a source of humor. I realize that the Nazis found this funny, but have we sunk so low? Lately it seems one cannot go to the movies without "humorous" scenes of men kicked, stabbed, shot or bitten in the groin. Since they never show similar sexual injury against women as a source of humor (which I am grateful for), it is hard to not conclude that this is some kind of hybrid of anti-male attitude and sexual sadism. At any rate it is sickening and I advise any and all movie-goers to avoid this movie.
Rating: Summary: Hang on Review: From someone who has read "Cheaper by the Dozen" and "Bells on Their Toes," and has seen the wonderful classic movies of both books, I doubt this movie has any similarities with the real-life story except for the fact that they have alot of kids. Steve Martin is a terrifically funny actor, but I doubt even he could make this movie as good as its predecessors.
Rating: Summary: Hilary Review: Oh my gosh!!! I think that any movie with Hilary Duff in it should get 5 stars.
Rating: Summary: Go Watch the Freaking Original... Review: Or read the book. The Original and the book were way better and could make you laugh, unlike this trivial piece of horrendous drivel. This is a travisty to the utmost power of hate.
Rating: Summary: Awful. Review: I saw the previews for this and I thought it was going to be really funny. I laughed once during the entire film. It was a waste of time for me and I was just waiting for it to end. If you want to see this, I would suggest renting it because it's not worth the 20.00 price of the DVD.
