Summary: AN EYE-CANDY ADAPTATION TO A POPULAR CARTOON.
Review: "The Flintstones" is a visually strong adaptation of the animated series, but it suffers the same weak spots that most of the cartoon-based movies have. The TV episodes are 20 minutes long, they have small stories that work well for TV, but a movie is usually between 90 and 120 minutes, so when the writers try to stretch the anecdotes of a TV episode, usually it feels too forced and schematic.
But in this kind of movies, the viewer is willing to forgive the holes in the plot, if the visual style of the movie matches the visual style of the original material, and thankfully to all the fans of the cartoon, this movie is delightful to see. The sets are an exact representation of the houses and buildings that the cartoon shows. The creatures are very funny and every creature in the movie works as a prehistoric representation of our modern machines.
Most of the cast feels right, John Goodman looks like a solid Fred Flintstone, Elizabeth Perkins is as pretty and smart as the original Wilma Flintstone, Rick Moranis is a good representation of Barney Rubble, Dann Florek looks exactly the same as the Mr. Slate that we can see in the cartoon and Halle Berry looks gorgeous as the sexy secretary Miss Stone. But what were they thinking when they cast Rosie O'Donnell as Betty Rubble? I mean, in the TV series Betty is pretty and dynamic, but this Betty looks like she ate too many brontosaurus, when I saw her I thought that she was already pregnant with Bam-Bam.
"The Flintstones" throw jokes at the slightest provocation, some of them are clever and some of them are just plain silly, but once again, the set designs, the creatures and some jokes are good enough to make "The Flintstones" an amusing movie.

Summary: Yabba Dabba Poo!
Review: "The Flintstones" could have been so much better. The cast is perfect including John Goodman, Elizabeth Perkins, Rick Moranis, Rosie O'Donnell, Kyle MacLachlan and Halle Berry. Can it get any betta? Kind of based on the cartoon, a slimy executive wants to humiliate Fred Flintstone. That's basically the story. You really have to watch this movie for the actors. Forget Elizabeth Taylor making a cameo which ruined everybody's lives. People still hate bird poo splattering all over their vehicles. Look at Halle Berry, Fred Flintstone should've been saying 'yabba dabba woo!' But, in most cases, the movie isn't for everybody and it might have people saying it's a big piece of 'yabba dabba poo.'

Review: All the Character in this film are great, Thanks to a well chosen cast. John Goodman is Perfect as Fred Flintstone, So is-Rick Morains as Barney Rubble, I did like-Elizabeth Perkins as Wilma Flintstone:Most Critics hate her in this role-Why?, Most Critics and Audiences accept-Rosie O` Donnell as Betty Rumble:Since she a bit chubby.I was more surprise with Kyle Mac Lachlan as Cliff Vandercave, Beautiful-Halle Berry as Sharon Stone and Elizabeth Taylor was surprisingly funny as Pearl Slahoople. Great Collector`s Edition on DVD, But there`s is one thing on the Technical Information didn`t sad about one thing on the Collector`s Edition-It has Audio Commentary From The Director:Brain Levant(Problem Child 2, Beethoven, Jungle All The Way). DVD`s has an Perfect anamorphic Widescreen(1.85:1) transer and Clear Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround. Grade:B+.

Summary: Children, Meet the Flintstones.
Review: As a child, I enjoyed the Flinstones. Never for the story lines but rather for the visual gimmicks peppered throughout: The dino-powered appliances... the wooly mammoth shower spickets and the bird beak record needle... etc. As a kid, that stuff had my imagination running wild. Fast-forward twenty or so years to this inevitable live action film! I wish I could be a kid again. The plot is nothing short of annoyingly formulaic. But the gimmicks are wherever the film turns. The bedrock casting is superb. John Goodman and Rick Moranis give great impersonations of Fred and Barney while Rosie O'Donnell and Elizabeth Perkins ARE Betty and Wilma. O'Donnell quite often steals scenes with her vocal stylings while Perkins reminds me why I always had a crush on Wilma. Even with tremendous casting and yabadabadoo production values (courtesy of Steven Spielrock), the film does not capture the adult mind, even as some humor aims for them with sexual innuendo. This includes a knockout role by teary-eyed Oscar winner Halle Berry as sexy secretary Sharon Stone. By the end of the film, you have had so much crammed in your face you don't care how it turns out. That weakness is probably the result of the rumored 32 screenwriters. But the pre-teen dinosaur lover will dig the humor. Watch for several cameos including an over-the-top Elizabeth Taylor and the B-52s. THE FLINSTONES was an expensive film and every dollar can be seen on the screen, but money obviously can't buy everything... "In Bedrock, twist, twist."

Summary: A big let down
Review: As a kid I was a huge Flintstone fan, still am at 31 years old, I never pass it by when I'm channel surfing and come across an episode on The Cartoon Network. I searched high and low for comics, watched every version of this great animation series ever, and who can forget "A Man Called Flintstone",the best animation movie ever which I must have seen over ten times. With all this, you can imagine how psyched I was when I heard talk of them making a movie of the modern stoneage family, I was even more excited when I saw a preview of it in the theater confirming my favorite cartoon was coming to life. However, once I did see it, I was deeply disappointed. The acting was so bad, not even like the dialogue you would expect in the original series, the only stroke of genius was the way they animated the Dino character, other scenes were cute, but nothing to get worked up about. History has shown us making a motion picture of a cartoon is a disaster, even "Popeye" was better than this, and I never thought that could be better than anything!

Summary: The Flintstones "Rock"!
Review: Entertaining and Funny. What more can you ask for in a film? Could they have done a better job bringing The Flintstones to life? If you ask me, no way! I think every character was portrayed to perfection! I was totally convinced by all the performances. John Goodman's accent was near perfect (although in some scenes you could tell he was wrestling with it). Rosie O'Donnell had Betty's giggle down perfect, hilarious! I thought overall John Goodman did a terrific job and I can think of no one who would better suit Fred Flintstone. The special effects in this film were also amazing. I was in awe. This film also had wit and surprised me with it's cleverness as well. It made me laugh at loud at times which is rare for a movie to do. I disagree with one reviewer complaining about a plot. They can't make a movie with The Flintstone's just standing there looking pretty! Of course the plot isn't going to be complex and deeply involved, it's The Flintstones dude! And I thought the plot was actually quite engaging. Honestly, what is there not to like about this film? Elizabeth Taylor is even in it!

Summary: I thought I was watching a cartoon!
Review: For those of you who grew up watching "The Flinstones" every night, "The Flintstones" is something to cherish. With John Goodman ("The Babe," "Arachnophobia") playing the part of Fred and Elizabeth Perkins ("Big," "If These Walls Could Talk 2") as Wilma, this delightful comedy does everything it can to mimic "The Flintstones," from pigs for garbage disposals to cars run on foot power to elephants for faucets. Everyone is dressed up in ridiculous outfits so exaggerated as to be cartoonish! Greatly helping the movie is a full cast of Hollywood (or should I say Hollyrock) actors, such as the Silver twins, Elaine and Melanie ("General Hospital"), as Pebbles and Hlynur Sigurdsson ("The Flintstones") as Bamm-Bamm. Ironically, the only time Barney Rubble, Rick Moranis ("The Adventures of Bob & Doug McKenzie," "The Animated Adventures of Bob & Doug McKenzie"), hears his child Bamm Bamm (Hlynur Sigurdsson) finally say "Dada" is near the climax of the movie, when Rubble is about to be hit in the head by construction equipment. The Rubbles (Rick Moranis, Rosie O'Donnell) soon find themselves in a lower economic stratum to their neighbors and friends (the Flintstones), and separation is inevitable. Also featured in this movie is the fledgling actress Halle Berry ("Bulworth"), playing secretary and co-conspirator Sharon Stone ("King Solomon's Mines," "Total Recall") - in the end, she falls prey to Fred's simpleminded goodness and betrays Kyle MacLachlan ("Sex and the City"), a money embezzler. Dann Florek plays an accurate Mr. Slate - Fred "John Goodman" Flintstone's boss at the rock quarry - and Fred invents concrete. From the second he sees it, Mr. Slate knows concrete is the thing of the future, and it is indeed in use even today. That is the kind of talent that makes Mr. Slate the boss of the quarry and not dumb oafs like Fred or his neighbor and friend Barney Rubble. Keep an eye out for computer-animated dinosaurs, because the graphics in this film are so realistic that you might misinterpret them as terrifying visual hallucinations.
