Rating: Summary: Could have been 20 stars! Review: I agree with other assessemtns - I would have paid more to have ALL the pink panther films, but to lose, perhaps the funniest and less cartoonish of the later ones ("Return of the Pink Panther") is inexcusable. Save your money and wait for the bigger set to come. Big BIG BIG dissapointment.
Rating: Summary: I'll be happy to own this... Review: I already have the four previously released DVDs of this set, yet I look forward to buying the new version for several reasons: 1. Blake Edwards commentary. There's a reason he won that award at this years oscar- he's a genius! 2. Trail of the Pink Panther. Is it a GREAT movie? Nope, but it has great moments, most of which are gleaned from previous films outtakes. Are they funny? Heck yeah. 3. These are some of the funniest films ever made. Period. 4. If MGM sees the interest in these films is strong they may release the other films in the series. Curse and Son are not perfect movies either, but they have great moments as well. 5. I owe it to my children (which I don't have yet) to own entertainment that I'm not embarassed to show them. 6. Peter Sellers. 'Nuff said. (....) 8. Did I mention Blake Edwards is a genius. 9. They bring me back to a better time of my life- when I was laughing! 10. To reafirm, as I do twice a year, that A SHOT IN THE DARK is the best written and performed comedy of the 60's. 11. So I can once again be amazed that the same guy who wrote A SHOT IN THE DARK also wrote THE EXORCIST. William Peter Blatty. No way there's two of them. 12. I already sold the old copies to pay for the new ones. These are the only movies that everyone in my family, from age 3 to age 60 loved. They're so much fun and so inoffensive. You can NOT be disappointed with them. And I didn't have to mention the minkees...
Rating: Summary: MISSING MOVIE and MAKE A DVD BOX of the cartoon series Review: I am giving this BOX a three star rating because you simply cannot call something a Pink Panther collection without The Return of the Pink Panther. Otherwise, we are all Peter Sellers fans here.
And what about the cartoon series??? I am bold enough to say the cartoons made me chuckle as much as the movies. There should be a complete dvd collection of these classics. Instead someone releases ALF's first season, oh the humanity.
Rating: Summary: Why put this out? Review: I can't beleive they would even consider this. It is missing 4 of the movies. That's almost half. Sure, they aren't all great, and 2 of them are owned by other companies, but a film collection is supposed to have all the movies in a collection right? "Inspector Clouseau," "Curse of the Pink Panther," and "Son of the Pink Panther" aren't on DVD, so there is no way to complete your collection. "Return of the Pink Panther" is out there from Artisan...but its just not the same. Still, if you're a fan, you might as well pick up this set, 4 out of 5 are classic comedies.
Rating: Summary: Very funny indeed! Review: I had the chance to watch the DVDs last year in Germany, where this box set was released earlier. I think all fans of the series will be grateful that this box set has finally become available in the US. It's a great gift for all Inspector Clouseau admirers. Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: Blake Edwards masterpiece! Review: I have all of these movies on video, and there are none finer. Whether you like slapstick, subtle, visual, or witt type comedy, you will find it all here, and in no small quantity. These are quite possibly the best "make you laugh" movies of all time. Peter Sellers is a genius. In my opinion, Revenge of the Pink Panther, and Return of the Pink Panther are by far the funniest. But the others follow closely. You will not be disappointed!
Rating: Summary: the best: peter sellers, blake edwards?, not so sure Review: I loved most of the pink panther films, I own this collection and the movie of Sellers that is left (Return of the...), but what it really fascinate me was the extras, there is a complete documentary about Sellers work and life that it is simply the best of my tv journey, not so funny, except from the abstracts of his movies, but very appealing in order to understand the great comedian and man he was. About the movies, loved the first two classics (Pink panther and Shot in the dark), Return, which is not included, I dunnot miss, can't say i liked that one; Strikes Again it is one of my favorites, Revenge was worth of a good laugh and about the Trail I didn't see the Edwards necessity to do that films besides the need of money, everyone in this days could have save to see that sort of tribute (there is no real story there) and watch the delightful lost and new scenes (at that time) of Sellers in another extra of this collection, but, what is done is done and I can't really complain, this movies are great fun and this set? one of my favorites.
Rating: Summary: great, but what about return of the pink panther? Review: i think its great they decided to put these classic films into a set finally. but what about return of the pink panther? even though it isnt as popular as the others, its still a part of the series, and i think its a great one as well. as someone else said they should've put all 8 films in a set. that would be awesome, but all the same, this is a must have dvd set.
Rating: Summary: not to worry Review: I too was upset till I came across Return of the Pink Panther in the 5.99 bin at Walmart. now im happy
Rating: Summary: Fun, but the first film is SERIOUSLY overrated Review: I was dissapointed there was no Return, and Trail is indeed pretty lackluster. Surprisingly, I also found the first film dreadfully, dreadfully boring - far too little screen time for Peter Sellers. David Niven may be the dullest man on earth in this film. The others, though, are utterly brilliant (especially A Shot In The Dark), and once you make it past the snooze-fest that is the first film, you'll have yourself a lot of fun - even with Trail.
