Summary: Funny and heartwarming
Review: I read a review of this movie earlier in the year but in never opened theatrically in my city. It's a very well-done ensemble piece which is, as I say, heartwarming, but not in a smarmy sort of way. Was glad to get a glimpse of the very appealing Jimmy Nail, who an English friend had told me was very sexy in an offbeat sort of way. Highly recommended.

Summary: This years favorite
Review: I rented it on a whim and after watching it twice in two days, I decided to add it to my DVD collection. It was easily the most pleasant surprise I've seen in a long, long time. It plays better the second time around. Having seen it a couple of times again I appreciate even more how beautifully done the whole film is. One of the best scripts to come around in a long time. The casting is marvelous, and director Brian Gibson handles the material with perfection, balancing the humor with the drama. I really can't recommend this enough. I suggest it to everyone. I got the soundtrack too.

Summary: A comedy with substance
Review: "The Full Monty" meets "The Committments". This could have been a light, silly film, but it isn't. As funny as it is, it follows in "Full Monty" style with insights into the lives of a group of people who are trying to make sense of where they find themselves 20 years after falling from stardom. Stephen Rea is his usual rumpled, wonderful self. Billy Connolly provides comic relief and voiceovers as the "road dog" roadie. Highly recommended.

Summary: For anyone that has just turned 50.
Review: This film is for anyone that loves Rock & Roll, loves the British and is turning fifty. One of the best films of 1999.

Summary: A side street detour that I do not regret watching at all.
Review: This movie is not my usual rental or purchase fare. I was greatly surprised by the content, talent and humor it contained. The songs went so well with the plot line and it was really played out well to the very end. This is one I can watch over and over and loan to my friends for a new expreience. Not very often can I find something this appealing.

Summary: Great Fun
Review: This is a video for anyone who loves rock - regardless of your favorite era or genre. It's funny, inspiring and heartwarming and the music ain't too bad either. It seems the movie was barely noticed when it was released in the early spring of 99 here in the states. Having it on video is just as good, if not better. Watching at home you have the chance to rewind and listen again to the dialogue (laden with thick british and scottish accents). Make sure you watch the tape all the way through to the last of the credits.

Summary: Excellent - not to be missed
Review: I saw this movie back in England, and loved every minute of it. If you like typical ireverent British humour, then you'll love this. If you like Billy Connelly, you'll love it even more.

Summary: Best Rock and Roll Movie Ever!
Review: Still Crazy is a fantastic fell-good film that takes off where most Rockumentaries leave off. Following the career of the fictional British glam rock band Strange Fruit, Still Crazy shows us their inevitable reunion in what is a very funny and amazingly uplifting story about the immortality of Rock. This movie features great songs and is a must see for anybody who wants to feel great!

Summary: Floydian Slip
Review: Q: What do you call a musician without a girlfriend? A: Homeless! If that old chestnut still makes you chortle, then you will "get" this movie. Painting an absolutely life-like portrait of an "almost great" 70's British band reforming for a 90's reunion tour, "Still Crazy" does "Spinal Tap" one better (I guess then you could say this film goes to "eleven", actually). The important dinstinction to make with "Still Crazy" is that, unlike other rock 'n' roll satires, it doesn't "mock" its characters, rather it treats them with the kind of respect that can only come from someone who truly loves and understands the music. Great performances all around, with the oft-mentioned Bill Nighy a standout in a hilarious yet poignant performance as the insecure lead singer. Devoted prog-rock fans will revel in many clever "inside" references, and are sure to recognize that the character of the "lost" leader/guitarist is obviously a tribute to Syd Barrett. Keep in mind, however, that you don't have to be a rabid rock fan to enjoy this film; its core issues dealing with mid-life crisis and the importance of following your bliss are universal themes. An exceptional original soundtrack (the kind that SHOULD, but of course NEVER gets nominated for an Academy Award!) puts the icing on the cake.

Summary: Rock on.
Review: What a fantastic film. Brian Gibson directed this homage to 70s rock and roll that took me throught the whole range of emotions and left me with that happy satisfied feeling I adore.
Smack full of great performances, good music, and a herd of sheep, Still Crazy entertains as well as reminds us all just how fun rock and roll can be.
Its about music, bands, forgiveness, and friends.
Its about hanging on for dear life and letting go.
Its fresh, its funny, and it'll warm your heart.

Featuring the music of Mick Jones (Foreigner) and Chris Difford (Squeeze), the film chronicles the reunion tour of near-miss British rock band Strange Fruit and all that comes with it. Tiny clubs, bad hair days, crazy fans, love affairs, and the music that holds them all together.

If you liked Almost Famous or ever had a heart for bands, you will love this movie.
