Summary: Polluted Waters
Review: I liked the mastering of these movies. I liked John Waters' commentary. (He even makes a funny reference to Osama bin Laden!) I did NOT like the unnecessary letterboxing of these full-frame movies (a problem that the Touch of Evil DVD also had). I know, from reading Waters' autobiography Shock Value, that he'd cropped the tops and bottoms of these two films so the films could run in most theaters. Still, couldn't AOL Time Warner (!!!) have put both the widescreen and full-screen versions of these trash classics onto each disc in this two-disc set?

Summary: Dawn Davenport ROCKS!
Review: Although "Pink Flamingos" gets more attention, "Female Trouble" is my favorite John Water's movie starring Divine. "Dawn Davenport" has got to me my favorite character ever played by Divine. The scene where she has a fit over not getting new cha-cha heels for Christmas, priceless! She goes from spoiled juvenile-delinquent brat, to "supermodel", to convicted murderer on death row. Divine even plays the roll of the father of Dawn's illegitimate daughter, Taffy. I love Divine's performance. It's great to finally get this on dvd, along with "Pink Flamingos", a John Waters classic!

Summary: nobody does it better
Review: Not since Laverne and Shirley, Knotts and Conway, and Bush and Cheney have two comedic minds meshed so well. Divine and Waters deliver over and over again in these two twisted camp classics that contain more gut busters than the Farrelly Brothers' complete works. This bar has yet to be raised.

Summary: Viva La Diva!
Review: "Pink Flamingos" will always be known as the film with "that doggie-poop scene". Starring the divine Divine, the film explores the outer limits of sick humor. Divine and her brewd compete with another family to see who is "the grossest person alive". Have a guess at who'll win that one!?

There's much more to John Waters' vision, realized through his muse Divine. The visually stunning, grotesquely overweight transvestite is quite credible as "Dawn Davenport", the high schooler who burned her small-town bridges when she didn't get her "cha-cha heels" for Christmas. There are many scenes that are definitely not for the squeemish, highlighted by the moment where Dawn gives birth (alone) and bites the ambilical cord (like primates would do), then, without losing a beat, gets up to confront the newborn's father via a pay phone.

John Waters' early "camp" films are not for the average viewer. You must appreciate this man's form of art, but it definitely IS art! Later films like "Hairspray", "Cry Baby" are geared at a main stream audience, for which the filmmaker had to "tone it down" considerably. For the College Camp Scene though, there is no substitute for the 2 titles on this DVD. They are Cinema Classics!*****

Summary: Disgusting is a three dimensional concept...in DVD
Review: I have both of these decadent classics on beta, and they are pretty worn, but when I view this DVD, it's like you can smell the filth..you can taste the decadence, you can feel the revulsion. A must have for classic John Waters fans..I wish the other early black and white movies like Multiple Maniacs would come out on DVD. Maybe soon...

The Fabulous...
David Davenport.

Summary: White trash nihilism at its best
Review: The great thing about a John Waters' film is that it can be appreciated at so many different levels. If you just want to freak people out pop one of these movies on and you can usually clear out half a room. On the other hand, Waters' films contain some of the best social commentary I have ever seen- whether intentional or unintentional. Even after all these years, these two films contain the original bite and edge that made them great in the first place. Pink Flamingos is still one of the best and earliest criticisms of our obsession with shock television and the media. This is quite an accomplishment since this movie is decades old and we are still tortured today with more reality and expose television than we can possibly handle. Female Trouble, one of my all time favorite movies, examines the exploits of a juvenile deliquent all the way to her execution. The last ten minutes of this film contain one of the best commentaries on the death penalty and our fascination with it that I have ever seen.

Summary: Baltimore.......My kind of town!!!
Review: Wow.......if you had to put a gun to my head and ask me what my favorite film is - well....without a doubt it`s Pink Flamingos.I have blown more minds with this movie than any other and it`s no suprise to me..either you love it or hate it,there is no casual fan of this movie. The film is about the bitter fight for the title of the filthiest people in the world and the current champion is Devine - a thieving, murdering, sexually twisted, cannibalistic, overweight and scary a woman as you will ever come across...and she IS the greatest actress in the world!I can`t tell you anything about the movie - just one of the funniest films of all time. When it was released in the early 70`s it must have been like a meteor hitting the earth..soo devastating and soo wickedly funny I`m sure that any fan of the movie remembers their first time....I still to this day remember my father laughing and pissing his pants watching this with me! lolololol...Just get it and you`ll see...love it or not it IS the funniest movie of all time...God bless John Waters!!!

Review: This DVD package is worth at least ten stars. Perhaps, these two films are among the greatest movies of all time. They are unlike anything else. Because they are sooooooo good, I am unable to distinguish between which one is the better film. Both are good from start to finish, they definitely kept my interest and had me laughing to the point of tears coming out of my eyes. A true display of trash-art once again for John Waters. This man is brilliant... he is a genius. It's a shame that Divine is no longer with us, because I would like to see more of his/her movies. He/she is my favorite actor/actress of all time. I recommend these movies for anyone with an open mind and a twisted sense of humor. One piece of advice... don't let your grandparents watch these films... they won't appreciate them. ;o)

Summary: You Must Own This Movie
Review: A truly bizarre romp through the surreal. This movie is really 'out there'. Whatever your pre-conceptions are, if you haven't seen this movie, then you will be pleasantly surprised. It's difficult to imagine a time in this country when we were so free to express unconventional and shocking ideas without the need for being politically correct, expressing a message of morality, or providing a well thought out plot line. If you're looking for any of these attributes in a movie, go buy Fried Green Tomatoes. This movie is for The Fringe. A real tribute to the glorious 70's, when nothing was off limits, it maintains a true balance of being absolutely hysterical without lowering itself to being simple toilet humor.

Summary: HILARIOUS
Review: The first John Water's film that I saw was "Pink Flamingos." I was shocked and disgusted, I could not believe what I was watching! I have never seen anything like it in my life. I couldn't help laughing out loud at the site of these extreme people who would rant and rave and do vile acts just to get noteriety! I absoluteley loved it. When I showed my friends the film they were shocked, but found it hilarious also. The lines in the movie get me every time, as with all of John Waters' movies. The lines that come out of the actor's mouth crack me up every time.

"Say it! Say it! Say, liquid eyeliner!"
I saw "Female Trouble" for the first time about two weeks ago when I purchased the DVD combo. Loved it! It is probably my favorite film by John Water's next to "Desperate Living."
These two films are classics. You have to see them.
