Review: Oh boy; here goes nothing...This movie without a doubt had me pitifying the actors/actresses involved. I hesitated even finishing the movie; however for the sake of fairness, I did. How cliche'...that is the one word I can think of to describe it. How many times do I have to say the "lesbian who falls in love with a man" routine is not funny or brillant or puts you in ranks for an Oscar. I laughed because it was stupid; not funny. I have never seen a movie with such lack of purpose in my intirity. Even the "lesbians" in the movie made my mouth dropped from disappointment. For one; if you're going to do a story involving sexuality of some sort especially homosexuality and what seems to be called the "new age rage" leave the goody goody storylines to directors/producers the audience expects to see that type of material from. Like, I wouldn't go to see a movie where I knew the producer or even director of that film had a history of cheesy storylines or cast members. I think the entire homosexual community; who happened to see this movie, either laughed at it disgustingly or became enraged. It's degrading, it's simplimatic; and presents the message "lesbians are just looking for the right man"...WRONG! This movie bites the dust; sound familiar?

Summary: Sweet, Good-natured comedy
Review: I cannot believe that it took "Dogma" for me to realize that Kevin Smith is not a very good writer. I had been a Smith loyalist in my earlier teenage years: I respected Clerks, enjoyed Mallrats, and felt that Chasing Amy somehow was on a new level of thinking. Now, however, I realize that grinning stupidly at the vulgarisms was just a form of natural rebellion, and that Kevin Smith was just as stupid as I was, and that the jokes were not funny at all.I see Chasing Amy as an immature attempt at winning over critics through the only piece of melodrama that had ever occured in Smith's life, his inability to accept girlfriend and star Joey Lauren Adams. It's absurdly personal, with Smith's character Silent Bob doing a monologue as some sort of dumb joke during a gratuitous appearance. However, I couldn't help but feel for the Ben Affleck and Joey Lauren Adams characters, as their performances are the shining light of this film. I felt alienated by Kevin Smith when he made this movie and even more so with "Dogma". In "Chasing Amy", he introduces something that is supposed to make him seem like a deep person with complicated feelings, in "Dogma", a religious scholar. Both cases would have worked much better without all the goddamn preaching. Kev, do yourself a favor and go back to the Quick-Stop.

Review: I simply didn't like it. Mallrats and clerks were great. But, this movie is not mallrats and clerks. The plot is pointless and dull and there's no real conflict. If the characters would just comunicate then all the problems would be solved. Also, all subjects get boring if you talk about them long enough, even sex. I didn't like the main girl. Her voice sounds like a strained harp (especially during the emotional scenes) and I found myself nodding off when she talked. There was one good thing about this film; it made me appreiate jay and silent bob more than ever, even if they did have a small part. if you have to watch this movie, just fast forward to where they come in and skip the rest.

Summary: Unbelievable
Review: Kevin Smith is incredible...in addition to the wonderful verbal humor displayed in his other two flims, "Chasing Amy" has great acting, directing, and a message so strong and believable that I almost wanted to become a lesbian :P. As an overall film, this is by far his best.

Summary: An instant classic!
Review: Chasing amy Has to be one of the top ten films I have seen in my life to date, When I was a teenager I was an avid skateboarder and had the pleasure of riding with Jason Lee in his lesser years, so, to see him on screen is a special a thrill for me. Anywho, the reason I say this film is a instant classic is because its one of those rare movies that you can watch over and over and still get a kick out of. And I for one plan to show this film to my daughter whene she asks that dreaded question "Dad, what's a lesbian?"

Review: The dialogue in this film deserved an oscar. It was great! It was smart, hilarious and unpredictable. Clerks was very good, Mullrats was horrible, and (from the scenes I've seen already) Dogma doesn't look too hot. Chasing Amy is the keeper so far. You should buy a copy!

Review: This is a wonderful movie. I saw it several times in the theater. Only two problems: it's not available on DVD and there's no soundtrack available (the movie has great songs including a number by Joey Lauren Adams).

Review: LOVED Clerks, REALLY LIKED Mallrats,thought this was just not up to the standard. Boring, hackneyed, homophobism-athon. Kevin Smith gets my respect, but not for this muck. The only character I didn't want to kick off a ledge was Jason Lee's sidekicky role as the inker.... sour, mean, and fundamentally committed.... any stars this gets is due to his acerbity, though Joey Lauren Adams is lovely (must confess I've never been able to stand Ben Affleck, loved the fact that he was a maroon in Mallrats, he was perfect as the evil, abusive, rebound grabber). Don't waste your time, see Clerks first if you haven't already, see Mallrats if you haven't, and wait on this one until it's the only tape in the videostore. Better than "Plan 9 from Outer Space", but ALSO more schmaltzy.
