Summary: What Too Wong Foo wasn't ! Great !
Review: This is an original independent film that is a great story of a drag road trip to show clubs. It shows feeling and understanding in the characters. If you watched Too Wong Foo then buy this and see the real story before "Hollywood" went and messed it up !

Summary: Life Altering and Delightful!
Review: Truly a film that will leave you with soaring spirits, and one of the best comedies of the 90's. Terrance Stamp gives perhaps the performance of this career as Felicia, the down-on-her-luck transexual drag queen, roped into a cross-Australia trek to put on a series of shows at a desert casino. The drag numbers are laughably bad but good humored, and the host of characters our heros (heroines?) encounter, not all of them friendly, make for a colorful and diverting romp. This is one film that makes you long to jump in the car for an adhoc road trip! Some of the less savory aspects of gay life (prejudice, violence) are touched on as well, giving the characters dimension as real people beyond their witty, sarcastic jibes. A must see!

Summary: Guy Pearce: Where have you been all my life?
Review: For those of you who saw L.A. Confidential and loved Guy Pearce (Sgt. Ed Exley), I guarantee you'll love this movie and fall in love with him all over again! I'm not going to delve into what the movie is about but I promise you this: 1) If you're female: you'll fall in love with gay men or wish you were one 2) If you're male: you'll fall in love with gay men regardless of your own sexual preference.

(Pearce also stars in: Heaven Tonight, Hunting)

Summary: Bloody F***ing Good
Review: An excellent movie, with the BEST costumes in the world. I love the scenery, especially as they go through the desert. The cast is great, my personal favorite is Felica, I think he steals the show. Some parts may be hard for younger kids to see, (ie. Gay bashing, descrimination, ect.) But mostly okay. (But watch for ping-pong balls.) Great movie for anyone who likes stage shows or great outfits!

Summary: Hilarious and touching road trip story of three drag queens
Review: The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert is an entertaining mix of drag queen performances to bands like "Abba," social commentary about perceptions of trans- and homo-sexuals, and tales of the lives of three drag queens who find themselves on a road-trip across Australia. The acting is amazing and ties with the costumes as the high point of the film. The story line is hardly original, even if the characters are a bit unusual, but the lip-sync scenes and the humor is worth your time. I recommend this film to anyone--Terence Stamp's acting and the hodge-podge of characters will entertain most anybody-- but especially to people who enjoy or appreciate films such as "Muriel's Wedding."

Review: These three hilarous (and uplifting) films should be viewed one after the other for the ultimate australian comedy experience.

Summary: my Favorite movie
Review: Priscilla is one my favoraite movies of all time. I saw this movie in the theaters when it came out. I still roll with laughter every time I see this movie. Whenever I discover that a friend of mine hasn't seen it I invite them over to watch. They have all loved the film also. Hugo Weaving takes is friends and "fellow" drag queens Guy Pierce and Terence Stamp, on a bus trip trough central Australia to perform in a casino owned by his lesbian wife. During the long trip through the middle of no where, they encounter bigoted miners and tolerant aborigonies as well as a mechanic with a mail order asian bride who used to be a stripper. To many Abba songs while wearing very purposefully tacky costumes. A MUST SEE!!

Summary: Special Edition NOW, Please!
Review: This is a throughly enjoyable film that plays so well after repeat viewings. It's a wonderful story with great performances by all involved. Being a technical geek on stuff like principal photography, I have to make note of the GORGEOUS cinematography. Priscilla was filmed in Arriscope and the anamorphic effect can be very extreme in some shots (example: shortly after they start their bus trip, they get out of said bus and gape at the road ahead of them. the camera raises above them and pans away revealing the degree of distortion on the sides of the frame - a terrific effect). THERE'S A PROBLEM THOUGH: It needs a SPECIAL EDITION! Commentary, docs, new interviews, EVERYTHING - NOW!!

Summary: Not Quite Queen, Maybe a Princess in Training
Review: There are some very good moments in this film. It has heart and a strong performance from tough guy Terrance Stamp. I would have enjoyed seeing a movie based on his or a her character. Far more interesting than the rest of the stereotypes. I really hate stereotypes. Can we move on from being portrayed as nelly little sissys and be real people? All that aside the film is slow paced. The production numbers are alright, but don't live up to the oscar winning costumes. Great musical score and some touching moments, but could have been so much more.
