Summary: Great fun for these times
Review: This movie is one of my all time favorites. I love the desert and the photography is incredible. Visually this is one the the most colorful and artfully photographed I have seen. The musical numbers are great and so much fun. The one thing that I took from this movie however is it's underlying theme of acceptance. Many of the main characters have difficulty accepting themselves yet in their travels there are many times where I expected to see nonacceptance but instead they were readily accepted. By the end of the movie, many of the characters can accept themselves much better because of the acceptance of others.
The movie doesn't hit you on the head with a message, it is really straight forward fun but there is a message there if you want it.

Summary: THE ADVENTURES OF PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT!
Review: Who would have ever thought that TERENCE STAMP would have a hit film in which he played a DRAG QUEEN? Not me! Not you! Not anybody! There are a trio of Drag Queens, in fact, who are racing their way across the AUSTRALIAN OUTBACK to put on a show! We are talking ELABORATE COSTUMES! We are talking CAMP CHOREOGRAPHY to some delicious LIP SYNCH NUMBERS from ABBA! The Village People! Gloria Gaynor! This down under comedy from 1994 directed by STEPHEN ELLIOTT, is certainly a campy cult classic. But as Drew Carey has already shown us, "Priscilla" might be good, but it ain't "Rocky"!

Summary: Wonderful and entertaining
Review: Priscilla is a wonderful movie. It's plotorian aspect exceeds it's intended conjunctual overview. The story implicates diversity upon cultural and habitual indifferences, but also sustains aquatic demeanor. With intriquet undertone this movie will have you garbastibating with intrigue and keep you nullified to your seat. For those who have not seen this movie yet, I exasperate for you to see it. It is ambrosia to your optical senses. This review has come to an end. I have been encouraged to take English classes as I am told I know nothing of it. Whatever.

Summary: Priscella Rocks!!
Review: All the actors in this film are excellent!!Terence Stamp is phenomenal! You should watch "Priscilla" and "The Limey" back to back just to undestand the depth of this man's TALENT! Magnificent range and belivibility! Guy Pierce also is great! The story and direction are great and well-paced! Even if you don't like the subject matter, this is a throughly enjoyable film.Very quirky and sweet, this film shows that we are all people and deserve to live life the way we choose! Also, check out "Hedwig And The Angry Inch"!

Summary: Worth Watching
Review: Funny movie. There's the guy from "Momento", the guy from "Superman III", and the guy from "The Matrix". Very good movie, but I think those guys are gay. Not that there's anything wrong with that. If they like to smoke the pipe, that's their business. If they like to pack fudge, then let them be. Live and let live I say. Viva la hoto.

Summary: Surprisingly wonderful
Review: I kicked, screamed and otherwise resisted like mad when my husband tried to persuade me to watch this movie on cable: "I don't want to look at stuff like that!" I ended up reading a book, in a snit, while he watched the movie. By the halfway mark my book was on the floor and I was completely hooked.

This film has great funny dialogue, wonderful acting and great characters. The three drag queens are not just one-dimensional stereotypes but each has a personality of his own. Terence Stamp is particularly good, bringing a quiet dignity to the over-the-hill transsexual he portrays.

I've watched this movie maybe seven times now, and I plan to watch it again. Lots. It's one of those movies you can watch again and again and never get tired of.

Summary: A MOVIE ANYONE CAN WATCH!
Review: FIRST OF ALL, LET ME SAY THAT I AM A VERY HAPPY HETEROSEXUAL MALE, AND HAVE NO DESIRE, OR INTENTION, TO DRESS IN WOMEN'S CLOTHING. WHY WOULD I START OFF WITH THIS IRRELEVANT INFORMATION ABOUT MYSELF, YOU MAY ASK? EASY ANSWER. I DON'T WANT ANYONE TO THINK THAT YOU HAVE TO BE 'GAY', A 'DRAG QUEEN', 'CROSS-DRESSER', ETC., TO APPRECIATE WHAT THIS GREAT MOVIE HAS TO SAY. I FOUND THE STORY ARC VERY INTERESTING AND TOUCHING, THE HUMOR VERY SHARP AND WITTY, AND THE PERFORMANCES OF ALL OF THE PLAYERS VERY, VERY GOOD (AND THE SONGS/MUSIC THROUGHOUT THE MOVIE ARE WONDERFUL, TOO). UNLIKE OTHER MOVIES (YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE, 'TO WONG FOO...') THAT HAVE DEALT WITH THIS TYPE OF SUBJECT MATTER, THIS MOVIE DOES NOT PLAY ON THE STEREOTYPE OF WHAT THE 'REGULAR PUBLIC' PERCEIVES 'DRAG QUEENS' TO BE (YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN, THE HIGH-VOICED, HAND-FLIPPING, CATTY, ETC., OUTDATED AND TOTALLY INACCURATE MODEL). THIS MOVIE SHOWS THAT, WHILE EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT, THEY ARE STILL 100 PERCENT HUMAN.

'PRISCILLA...' SHOWS IT'S AUDIENCE THAT BEHIND ALL OF THE MAKE-UP, FANCY COSTUMES, ETC., THERE ARE VERY SENSITIVE AND LOVING PEOPLE WHO JUST WANT TO BE ABLE TO LIVE AND LOVE LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE. I DARE ANYONE WHO HAS ANY FALSE BELIEFS ABOUT 'GAY' INDIVIDUALS, AND 'DRAG QUEENS', TO WATCH THIS MOVIE. YOU WILL HAVE THAT SOCIETY BUILT-IN CLICHE OF YOURS SHATTERED. THIS MOVIE IS VERY EDUCATIONAL, AND ENLIGHTENING.

I URGE ANYONE WHO WANTS TO WATCH A GREAT MOVIE (WHILE ALSO EXERCISING THE INTELLIGENCE OF THEIR MIND) TO VIEW THIS UNDERGROUND CINEMA GREAT.

Summary: very fun, entertaining movie but a so-so dvd
Review: This review pertains to the TWO (count 'em, two previous editions of the dvd). How many times is this film going to be re-released on dvd, especially without adding much of substance? The first issue was double sided and contained both letterboxed and full screen versions, though I think there were some encoding errors on the full screen version, causing the picture to "break up" here and there. The second edition did not add anything to the first; it just took away the full screen version. Now, this third version, seems to add nothing new, either. The "collectible booklet", if it matches that in the second release, is nothing more than a few paragraphs describing the film. It seems to me that a commentary track would be a welcome addition for a film that's already come out twice on dvd, but perhaps this really is just a straight reissue of the second dvd version which was released, after all, only a year ago.

As to the film, well -- if you're reading this, you probably already know it. If you don't, however, suffice to say that this is a very funny film about three men who dress up as women who drive across the Australian outback in a bus in order to perform at a bar run by the ex-wife of one of the men. Naturally, all sorts of bitchy fun and mishaps occur along their trip, as well as once they arrive. The costumes are reason enough to at least rent this dvd, if not own it outright.

Review: This movie really depresses me. The scenery, the acting, the old songs. BLEAH!
