Summary: The best animated series ever!
Review: Rocky and Bullwinkle is definitely my favorite animated series ever. I enjoyed it as a child and I enjoy it even more as an adult because now I get all the jokes which were really aimed at adults. A comparison could be made to "Do Not Adjust Your Set", the 1960's British TV show for children that ended up being even more popular with adults. Rocky and Bullwinkle have greatly influenced Matt Groening's Simpsons, a show that used to be almost as good (the past few seasons have been pretty weak, relying on guest stars more than jokes). The Rocky and Bullwinkle set is a must have item for true fans. I only have one bad thing to say about it and that is that the audio track could have been mastered better - the volume varies greatly during the shows. For example, the opening sequences of the shows are very loud but then Mister Peabody's voice is very quiet. A small price to pay for a show that is a masterpiece of popular entertainment.

Summary: I have to mention a few problems
Review: Hello. If you're anything like me then you are a balding jewish guy in his late 40's. You might also be a purist when it comes to collecting your baby-boomer tv memories. If that is the case then you might want to be aware of a few tiny short comings in this Rocky the Flying Squirrel box set. The titles of the show's opening have been altered slightly and someone other than William Conrad's voice is used for a few seconds. Also the beginning of each cartoon has a little "R&B" logo on screen for a few seconds, which I find annoying! in addition you can see copywrite dates on the titles that are from 1989. oooh I hate that! when I watch my vintage TV i want it authentic! I got some rocky VHS tapes a few years ago from [local store]. I recommend seeking those out. Other than thoses tiny complaints, this is good stuff.

Summary: It has a BUG in the lower right hand corner!!!
Review: I love Rocky and Bullwinkle and I'm glad they finally released it on dvd and in a Season boxset to boot, but be warned, these dvds have a BUG (a semi-transparent gray "R&B" logo on the lower right hand corner) on them. This bit of branding copied from cable tv stations is quite annoying, even though the Bug itself is fairly innocuous and only lasts for about 10-30sec at the beginning of each segment.

Still, this is the first foray of placing a bug on a dvd. If it does well, there will definitely be others and possibly (likely?) far more distracting.

Summary: Now I can get rid of all those VCR tapes!
Review: I was in high school when these were originally broadcast and some 20 years later watched them again when my kids were old enough to enjoy them. What a treat to have them avaiable on DVD.

Every generation should have a chance to watch these truly creative and innovative shows. The writers do not dumb down anything and the shows appeal to kids of all ages. For those of you who have grown up on the Simpson's these shows are what your parents or grandparents watched. (The Simpson's is still my favorite currently running show.)

Hope that all the episodes will be available.

Summary: Not quite the first season, but who cares?
Review: The title of this DVD set is a bit misleading. Although it does have the first season's Rocky and Bullwinkle episodes, and all of them, it also has a number of other shorts that weren't from the first season at all - like a couple of Dudley Doright episodes, which weren't shown on TV until the third season. So that means that some of the material that was in the first season won't be seen until later DVD sets. But that's okay; they're all still funny, and as a little bonus, one of the Dudley Doright episodes on this set is "Stokey the Bear", which had been thought by many to be gone forever - the Forest Service threatened to put Jay Ward in jail because of the parody of Smokey the Bear, and General Mills ordered all of the prints destroyed. Luckily, this wasn't the case. But this is nitpicking. Any fan of Rocky and Bullwinkle will love this set instantly, and it's well worth the price - and more. The thing that struck me most while I was watching it was how well I remember all of these cartoons, even though I hadn't seen some of them in twenty-five years. And, despite the fact that I've seen some of them literally hundreds of times, they still have the power to leave me helpless with laughter. Six words: "Stroke, stroke, stroke" "Bail, bail, bail".
All of the cartoons were remastered, and the sound remixed, so you probably haven't seen Rocky look this good before. You really can't go wrong with this set of DVDs, except for dying of frustration waiting for the second season to appear.

Summary: It's the best!
Review: Got it today. Watched the first 45 minutes with my kids, who had to be ripped away from it (me, too). The picture and sound quality are fantastic! It's wonderful to have the whole thing together. Buy this now -- it won't just sit on your shelf.

Summary: Fantastic!
Review: I have been waiting for a long time to see Rocky and Bullwinkle on DVD, and this first season set does not disappoint! Although the animation and voice work are primitive compared to future seasons (like The Simpsons), the episodes still contain many laughs. The bonus features are also very interesting, including a segment incorporating an advertisement to save stamps and buy savings bonds. Buy this, it's awesome!

Summary: Better than you Remember!
Review: Like manna from Heaven, or at least Frostbite Falls, this 52 episode collection follows Bullwinle and Rocky through their first season. everything you remember is here: puns, obscure references, jibes at the White House, Fractured Fairy tales, Aesop and Son, Mr. Peabody and Dudley D0- Right.

The transfer is exceptional, my only complaint is the long intro to each episode. This is a minor quibble in an otherwise outstanding collection. When does the second one come out!!!????

Summary: Absolutely fantastic
Review: This is a wonderful collection, and technically amazing if, like me, you've grown up seeing faded, scratched and poorly spliced copies of these episodes. This, I think, is the best this animation is ever going to look. The colors are crisp and the sound is great. The shows are different than the syndicated ones I've seen on Cartoon Network: the various secondary features like Fractured Fairy Tales and Peabody have been reinserted in thir original broadcast order. The color footage of the Bullwinkle puppet is a revelation, as is the Savings Stamp segment. All I can say is BUY IT if you are a fan of the show. You won't regret it. Let's hope season two DVD is on its way, because I've never seen all of the "Upsidasium" story...
