Summary: A great beginning for the greatest movie series ever!
Review: Dr. No was the beginning. I read the book after seeing the movie and they're both great! The movie follows the book very well! I wonder if Ian Fleming ever saw this Bond movie (Or From Russia With Love). This was the third Bond movie I saw with Sean Connery, and he's obviously the best! No doubt about it!

Summary: Great beginning to a legendary hero
Review: Dr. No may not be the best 007 adventure ( From Russia With Love is ) but it still packs a classic blend of action, romance, and intrigue. For anyone who ever doubted Connery was the best Bond, look at the first time he says his name in the casino. That's one of the greatest moments in cinematic history. Jack Lord was definately the best Felix Leiter. I am not going to give a plot synopsis because all Bond fans should know it by heart. Even at it's lamest, this film is 10 times better than anything made with Brosnan. For the guy who said Lazenby gave a good performance, seek help, you need it.

Summary: A Small Beginning
Review: This is the debut film in a long line of the James Bond 007 spy movies. British secret agent Strangways is murdered on location in Jamaica, where he had been investigating an inquiry from the Americans about why there had been interference with rockets being launched from Cape Canaveral. James Bond is dispatched to solve the case. Bond is a special agent, called a double-0 operative, who is "licensed to kill." This is a decent contemporary plot for the early sixties time period (1962).For any fan of James Bond 007, this film is a must-see for one reason: the dinner conversation between Bond and Dr. No. It plainly reveals the basic evil mindset from which all of the villains throughout the entire series operate from. Dr. No is a member of SPECTRE (SPecial Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge, Extortion). After finally capturing Bond, Dr. No invites him to dinner, rather than just killing him! Dr. No explains, "I only gratify your curiosity because you're the one man I've met capable of appreciating what I've done--and keeping it to yourself." Later he goes on to say, "You cost me time, money, effort; you damaged my organization--and my pride. I was curious to see what kind of a man you were. I thought there might even be a place for you in SPECTRE." Compared to other Bond movies, this one comes up short in a number of areas. First, it doesn't follow the typical Bond sequence. Also, the music is very weak, featuring "Three Blind Mice" and "Underneath the Mango Tree." The chase scenes are very forgettable, including the screeching of tires on a dirt road. Bond doesn't yet have his famous Austin Martin, there is no special gadgetry, and no "Q." There are a couple of good performances in the movie worthy of mention. In my opinion, Jack Lord does the best job of anyone in playing Felix Leiter, the CIA man. Bernard Lee does his usual fine job of playing "M," and one of my favorite scenes from this movie is when he takes away Bond's Beretta and orders him to use the Walter PPK, instead. Ursula Andress' portrayal of Honey Ryder is in the top quartile of Bond women performances. In my opinion, this is one of Sean Connery's weakest and must unconvincing acting jobs of the series. It doesn't have his usual witty one-liners, nor does he ever get to upstage his bosses. If you were to take all of the Roger Moore Bond films and average them together, then compare them to all of the Sean Connery Bond films, Moore definitely comes out on top. In my opinion, the overall best Bond performancewas not done by either Moore nor Connery, but by George Lazenby in "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" (1969)! My reaction to the comments in this forum about this being the greatest Bond film of all times is a rather incredulous one. I own all of the Bond films (official and unofficial), as well as the parodies such as "Austin Powers" and "Casino Royale." In my opinion, this film would be mainly unexceptional, were it not for the dinner conversation between Dr. No and Bond. Some respect is also due, because this was the initial film that caught the public's interest and got the series' momentum started. In conclusion, the first film in the James Bond 007 series, "Dr. No," is a small, but important, beginning.

Review: While it's not all here, and has a few flaws, this is a perfect layout for one of the best series ever made. Connery will always be Bond, and Wiseman's Dr. No is a worthy advesary.

Review: From the opening scene with the three assassins walking down the street to the music of three blind mice to the classic boy gets girl ending this film fits the bill. Connery is a superb 007. For a movie made in 1962 the gadgets and special effects are just right. This is Bond at his best.

Summary: When James Bond is 3-D character
Review: Dr. No is one of my favorite movies. Without doubt, my favorite Bond movie even over Goldfinger. Yes, I would agree if you said Goldfinger is the best movie of series. Still, Goldfinger had some elements this movie didn't have present, but Dr. No has elements that Goldfinger did not have. I got little interest in Bond movies after read some short stories and novels. Some of you might not agreed, but most novels are better than movies. Dr. No is considered by many to be Ian Fleming's best James Bond novel. The movie follows the novel very accurately. I was never a big Sean Connery. In his first role as James Bond, He does excellent job of potraying Fleming's Bond. Something haven`t seen in James Bond movies for the last 30+ years. This movie became a cult-favorite and sort made Connery a midnight star. The series has forgotten about Ian Fleming's novels and taken on a life of its own. Dr. No should be consider the best movie series because it's the least ambitious, did not go overboard with action, an excellent storyline, no campy gagdets, the acting was in place, and follows the novel closely. This is why lots people did not appreciate Timothy Dalton, because his version of Bond is related more to the novels than movies. Still, I think Timothy Dalton is the second best Bond compared to Connery(Yes, He should have called quits after Goldfinger when the series took a nose dive,a very deep one).

Summary: OO7 COMES TO LIFE ON THE BIG SCREEN
Review: First "JAMES BOND" movie ever made. Great job by director. Sean Connery suave and debonaire as Ian Fleming's master spy. Ursla Andress ALLURING as "HONEY RIDER". I have this film in my video library collection along with the ENTIRE series on the character, and I RECOMMEND to "BOND" fans to start their own collection with this movie.

Summary: IAN FLEMING'S MASTER SPY IN FIRST SCREEN OUTTING
Review: As with ALL of the films that i previously reviewed, I also have this and the ENTIRE "BOND" series in my video library collection. Sean Connery makes his screen debut as the super spy created by Ian Fleming. Ursla Andress makes her appearance as "HONEY RIDER", the VERY FIRST "BOND" girl. A pre "HAWAII FIVE-O, Jack Lord appears as the screen's 1st "FELIX LEITER". Terence Young does GREAT job direct 1st 007 adventure.
